The description for choosing a neutral alignment states that it opens the way for new defenses and weapons, along with its' other benefits. However, I've never noticed any new techs under the weapon or armor trees. Is there a way to mod the game so that neutrals get parts of the good and evil arsenal?
Neutral was supposed to get new weapons and defenses, but they never got implemented for some reason. I rectified this a little in my mod, by making the Nano Ripper (MD weapon), Superior Duranthium (Armor) and one of the Good Shield techs (can't remember the name right now) Neutral-only.
A tech can't have two Alignment-requirements. You have to choose between one or the other. So it isn't possible to give Neutral weapons and defenses from Evil and Good, without removing them from the other alignments.
Actually, you can make a cloned tech and change the alignment required, the AI and player can only research it after they are that alignment.
Does that work without changing the Internal Name? I have to try that.
Edit: It does work. Very interesting. The only problem would then be the Evil weapons themselves. They are build on purpose to be as painful as possible to their targets, which wouldn't really fit for a Neutral alignment.
Interesting indeed...most other games would have a seizure over that, but apparently not GCII...
The way I improved this is just by editting the description of neutral alignment so that instead of saying it grants bonus weapons and defenses that it grants 'additional trade and research techs' because that's what it actually does.
