So, sometimes it happens in a sins game that you dominate an opponent so hard in fleet only, and there are no real opportunities for your setup to have a stronger economy because your other bad allies all got curb stomped and the field of play is such that you can't tactically take out another player's eco. So, it ends up with the economic players wearing down the remaining super fleet while owning 3/4 of the map, while they also build a super fleet of their own(at least as an advent/tec player...vasari have no problem with this situation).
I just recently played a game like this, where we were all but ended and we had lost, and it was our super fleet vs their super fleet. The other team had set this huge fight out and wanted to engage us to see who had the better fleet, all the while boasting that they had already dominated, this battle was a foregone conclusion, they just wanted to fight it. Everyone was engaging in the fight and enjoying it, right up until the lag set in. So this is about a 30 minute fight(which isn't nearly the longest fight i've ever had). My team was outnumbered by about 30% in forces, yet we had high level titans. they had an all carrier force, yet not enough guardians to do anything. we stayed back in defensive formation to cut down their fighters/bombs with our ~100 flak while my coronata keeping damage to a minimum (it took them a long time to focus fire the coronata instead of the eradica..lolz). So ya their bombers were getting shredded, and then we proceeded to engage their carriers. then the lag set in really bad and they started bitching about their victory point.
Well newer players, this is what you do when adversity strikes, you adapt and overcome. You stick the fight out, you endure the shitty lag. Many games lag out, learn to deal with it. If you engage in the fight, don't whine your way trying to get everyone to leave.
We engage and throughout the fight, we proceed to dominate the other fleet, the destroyed lvl 10 eradica taking out an amazing amount of opposing ships. Since we all agreed to fight this fight beforehand, all the complaints that said to stop the fight and let them have the victory, mid fight. I mean my team was really mauling them good, so why give up the fight right, especially all the boastful crap that we were reading by their team.
I personally enjoy the large fights in sins, and when they actually happen it is a fun experience, even with the lag.
If you go into a huge fight, you are vouching for your computer as well, you don't have the right to bitch and moan if you minidump because your computer sucks. You can buy a computer with newegg's card and upgrade it, and pay it off within a year, even if you are poor (that's what I do). So, if your rig is crap, and yet you derive a lot of your fun from playing games on it, perhaps it would be a logical thing to upgrade it.
Anyways, someone has to finish the fight. Also, if you commit to a game, don't go telling everyone it's your bedtime and it's time for the opposing team to quit, you chose to start the game in the first place, man/woman up and accept your responsibility that you are going to play a full game. That is kid shit.
It's sad what people will sacrifice in their personal lives to just get one point of victory. What about the memory of the fight?
Those always last longer than some irrelevant win or loss. Epic fights for epic experiences, and memories. I remember a few memorable fights over the years, yet it really comes down to who see's these fights out that makes these memorable fights happen.
Lag is a part of playing sins online, don't piss and moan when it occurs because you are enjoying an awesome tactical situation that few games can provide.
This wasn't about a victory point for me, because they owned all the territory, and no way in hell was I going to take time to take out AI's...but these new players (and some of them old as well...) are just so focused on these meaningless stats that they let them over rule their fun. They engage in epic fights, but then realize their computers can't handle it midway...after trash talking the other team's ears off. There is a word for this: idiots.
In the end, Daknife got the victory point, and not surprising, he didn't boast or piss or moan.
An example for the others on his team.
Wow so much wrong with this post its not even funny, however thanks for at least a well written and constructive, in your eyes, post. I assume you are mr carpet on ICO, so lets get to it:
1. There is normal MP lag and there is 7 fleets full of fightes/bombers in one graivity well end-game lag. The game literally froze for everyone where you would get 1 second of action to 10-15+ seconds of frozen screen lag. I have checked the CPU and everyone was at 100% regardless of thei system. I have a brand new alienware system so its nothing to do with the rig, its just the limitations of a 32-bit system. Google it for more info if you are unfimiliar with it. The lag was so bad that Barbarian left after 10 seconds of action which took around 5-10mins of real time.
2. You mention new player but our team consisted of Grimm, Barbarian, DaKnife, myself and some random who wasnt even on your side of the map. Considering the fact that first three can hardly be called new players and grimm and candido are considerably more skilled than you are i find your accusations laughable and especially silly if just directed at myself. i was top eco 1-1-1 all game ( you were eco too), had most of the map, fed grimm x2 as much as you fed your guy and generally was a lot more useful to the team, hence the way we rolled you guys. You failed that game among the rest of your team, and only thing keeping you guys alive was faernal.
3. Game was over after 40 minutes, we had 80%+ of the map and it was effectively 5v2. There was 0 chance of you winning from that point on and we just wanted the game to end. At first it was fun to mess around for a bit but there was literally no need to prolong the game for 3 hours. We could have just attritioned you out but wanted it to end soon and were just throwing fleets at ya when we could remake a bigger fleet within 10 minutes with unlimited resources, culture, cannons, sbs etc... Just because fearnal was carrying you all game, for some reason you assumed that you deserved to win for some reason and wouldnt leave etc when everyone in the game already typed gg several times.
4. You have a horrible attitude, calling us "noobs" all game when you got rolled so quick its not even funny, and after you yourself personally failed in your position, is staggering. When 5 old school players asking you to leave isnt enough i dont know what it is. Faernal ended up apologising for you after the game but you probably dont even give a shit and just think how pro you are etc cos you had a high level titan( lvl 8 ish) vs 5 lvl 5 titans and full fleets with ability to replace them asap. You say that people were whining and showing off in chat but NOONE was even talking to you... until u wasted 3 hours+...
5.In pains me to say it considering how small close-knit the community is, you definately arent welcome in my games or Grimm's games at least. And i very much doubt that other players in that game would want to play with you. It would take a lot, for at least myself, to change my mind. Consider this: when barbarian can leave a winning game because of people simply wastime time, why is it so hard for you to do the same in a lost position? You showed 0 respect to people in that game..
P.S oh and DaKnife was asking you to leave for 30 minutes yet obviously you ignored him too.
JinglyCat
Drama. Drama is happening here.
Loving it! Makes my work day end faster
This is Faernal.
The bitching came in after the battle was obviously over. It's a matter of respect for people's time in my eyes. We had some tremendous victories, wiping entire fleets when the board was 70-30, and this I have seen recovered from, so I was up for the battle. Then it became very clear we had no hope, but with all the good-hearted smack being talked back and forth, we decide on a large end-all battle. My level 10 eradica went white-hot-nuclear-bitch after dying and I had to watch for a moment, but the moments were long for those who had already put in so much time. Our forces were down to scraps and the battle was clearly lost. As I recall, Carpet actually jumped his titan out of the gravity well. How is that one final battle?
I can appreciate memories & colorful sentimentality, well written on that part. But you carried it on too long, Carpet. Down to the last morsel when they had 95% of the map at that point? With lag overwhelming and people in danger of losing a hard fought victory point? That victory point you scoff at represents effort and time, and they all deserved it. And YOU most certainly did NOT. So don't come with "they should have better computers" or wtfever, you should have a better perspective, perhaps one that recognizes more than YOUR point of view. It was late, Grimm had work early the next day, and Jingly was naked at the comp ready for bed for gods' sakes! Dak, one of the kindest hearts I know, actually got pissed. Jesus man, wtf is wrong with you?
There's just no respect and honor in kids these days, sheez
As you can see, here all all the whiners I was talking about that posted above, to everyone else reading.
In response:
these replies don't change the fact that you can't finish what you started.
That is one thing that separates the old from the new.
You have a horrible attitude, calling us "noobs" all game when you got rolled so quick its not even funny.
Yes indeed, one does get rolled quickly when they are preparing for an epic battle to defend another's HW and a planet bomber fleet is wiping the rest of their planets out. That being said, I still had my production and we did wipe your "super fleet" out despite being at a disadvantage. More a demonstration of how much your team sucked when we rolled through your main fleet. Quite funny, and honestly I wouldn't brag about economic advantage, there were many advantages your side had over ours. Like, how you had 2 feeders, and I didn't even have a viable trade lane longer than 4 planets...
gg
PS: I "made you" play an extra 20-30 min tops, please attack me for playing a game that you enjoy.
PPS: Thank you for acknowledging you are whiners without me having to call you out. Now you just look as bad as you should.
Opinion from a complete outsider:
sareth01, you are wrong. If you are asked by several skilled players to leave that is no whining. And key things were mentioned in previous comments, if you drag a game that has extreme lag, you deserve to be kicked from online skilled games for acting like this. You make many players to crash their game if you don't leave from a completely lost battle, and ending up minidumped feels the worst if otherwise you could have a win that you deserve just because someone thinks he is the most badass person on the whole planet and can win against several players against only him. Not too many players like brutal lag... It is just very rude to do, one FINAL BATTLE IS OK, but if you see huge lag and you drag the game for many minutes while all others ask you to leave is nonsense and rude.
You risk everyone's game to end up crashed, longer you stay, higher the chance to end up minidumped (as the 2GB limit is not hard to achieve with huge fleets colliding and fighting). This is one of the main reasons for respecting the other players and saying gg and leave, not stay until you have no more planets or ships. And many people don't have the whole day to play a game that was already decided half an hour ago, only just one player thinks he can be David against Goliath.
Oh and btw, not stats are the most important thing in the world and almost noone cares about his or her stats, but if you are winning you like to see it's result, not just crash to desktop because of game limitations..
It is just very rude to do, one FINAL BATTLE IS OK, but if you see huge lag and you drag the game for many minutes while all others ask you to leave is nonsense and rude.
Thank you, i'm glad you agree with me. We were having a final battle and it wasn't crippling lag, because we ended up destroying most of their fleet, so the lag subsided a bit after that.
Yep, we were winning the fight and I wanted to see the result. I was having fun.
only just one player thinks he can be David against Goliath.
Nobody thought about doing that, we were fighting a large final battle. I wasn't going to stay after the battle, I just wanted to blow some ships up, which I did. They piss and moan like i'm staying forever to kill AI's or something, which is total extremist BS, because I don't want to spend time causing people to dump to get that victory.
If you want to argue, just go on ICO. Do you have any idea how many posts I have to sift through to see which are worthy to troll?! Stop posting this pointless bullshit and go play CoD or whatever you children play
Hmm, I'm glad you think this is a worthy troll post for your troll comments.
This discussion may be pointless to you, yet entertaining for a few.
After all, something is happening on these forums.....
For the record I don't play FPS games, and I especially don't enjoy console games as your picture would imply.
But please, go on baselessly judging me and considering yourself more intelligent and/or mature, because you obviously proved it to everyone.
See how much time you put into that fence of text? It is pointless, yet you reply to it. TROLOLOLOLO
You failed
Talking to Carpet about this is like kicking the tarbaby, dude -- you may never get your foot out. And no matter how reasonable your argument, he will hear nothing but that which justifies his own legitimacy. I married that bitch already! And then I divorced her
And this is me doing it again.
Farewell.
As Official Designator of Titles, I now declare Sareth as the Sorcerer of Sauciness....
I also think Unity Mass should do chaining damage...
Excellent response, I like!
Carpet I thought you were better than this. No need to burn these bridges you'll have no one to play with.
sareth is right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
isint part of the game to completely destroy the opponent - he might have 1 scout left still kill him, in chess you just dont give up if you have a king - you make them struggle to put a check mate on you. so u all should have another match!! post the replay
Chess doesn't have MDs....
BUT IT DOES HAVE PEOPLE WHO FLIP THE BOARD....
FLIPPY FLIP FLOP. QUEEN C3 D4
Oh I tried that, and Jingly cat kicked me from the match as he was host.
So I tried, yet some people really hold pointless grudges. After enduring his complaints, I still didn't mind playing a game with him after all.
Now, it takes two to burn a "bridge", so blaming a singular person is highly unfair, so you are showing your bias with your words. That being said, sins is in it's heyday of activity, there are plenty of people to play with. Yet the truth is, I'm a skilled player, and those wanting to improve(Jinglycat) will eventually want to prove themselves that they can put their pride on the line where their mouth/fingers couldn't succeed.
Troll sareth to oblivion. He has broken the troll code of conduct by committing this atrocity
AND HE ISN'T EVEN A TROLL! I DESIGNATE YOU AS FOUL SCUM AND SHIT CLEANER IN THE HORSE STABLES!
Seleucia is right, trolling, or just general conversation capability on the forums, is in sharp decline. Please cultivate a more intelligent mind, it is mind numbing to read these posts. I mean, troll code of conduct? Is this guy serious?
lol
You actually refer to a person engaged in this thread/conversation as "this guy?!" You're a real scumbag.
Go with Brony to the other asshats
Is this guy serious?
U mad bro?
Please elaborate on how I'm a scumbag, with something more substantial than your baseless assertion.
Note: I really want to be entertained by your ignorance.
IGNORANCE IS BLISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
