Looking at my first game so far i have to say that i liked it better when we had the production of buildings and units seperated like in the "old" game.
What do you guys think?
Please no! We need hard choices, and one is deciding whether to build a building or a unit.
Exactly, the new system is much better.
I also think about a future multplayer. This makes unit rushing possible. Killing an enemy in the first turns of the game.
It also keeps peacefull races weak i think. Maybe a city buildin melitia? Numbers based on the city size? Only active when there is no active unit to defend the city? Or maybe to choose for the cost of a city lvl?
No.
Split is better
This is both an empire building game AND a wargame.
Remember that galciv2 had both, and that you could also use a slider to decide weight/funding.
Well, rushing tactics should come at the cost of becoming more backwards in the city improvements for a while.
Not sure what you mean by this. Cities do have a 'built-in' militia which grows over time (forget whether it's via population or techs or buildings) whether there are other units present or not.
Built in militia is horrible. When the game is about the middle or end, militia is just useless anyway, so you do need split built queue to build up proper defenses.
No split, pls. I like that i have to make a decision...
Eh?
What you need is to prioritize your builds.
But dont you have to prioritize then as well? I mean money is not infinite as are people. The last two games i was killed prior to turn 50 because of a huge enemy force. He must have done nothing else.
Then why have two build queues? The question is...what were *you* doing prior to turn 50 that caused you to lose? I almost always build a basic military unit first thing to defend my capital.
***Because defending my capital city is important.***
But if you don't defend your capital, that's a ton of extra economic advantage you'll get over your competitors. For the 20% risk you'll be eliminated early, it's worth it, IMO.
And those kinds of justifications are why we need a split queue.
I had a defending unit. I never leave my cities undefended. Not since civilization 1. But he had more units and a far higher lvl count on his 3 heroes. Still have no idea how he could affort them.
