So in keeping with the spirit that some "modders" feel their ideas were taken to create content for Sins: Rebellion, I'd just like to take this opportunity and come clean that the whole concept was my idea first and due to pending litigation (Stant123 Vs. Ironclad Games Corporation and Stardock Entertainment) the Beta is being held off until all parties involved can come to amicable terms and settle this dispute.

As you can see, this PM to -Ue_Carbon was made well before the Rebellion announcement (made on March 1st) and the ideas had come to me much earlier then this, it's just that Carbon had returned to participating on these forums so I felt inclined to tell him what I was going to do with his lore faction so he could return to the story and continue it. I've taken the liberty to bold the sections where I specifically use the terms Loyalist, Rebel, and the like, proving I have used these exact words to describe the happenings of what is going on in a semi-post diplomacy setting in the Distant Stars (Lore) region of the Sins Universe. Stardock, having access to our PM accounts can easily verify the authenticity of this message that was recently sent back to me on my request. Since they read my PM's frequently and have thus taken my ideas as a basis to create this stand alone expansion, I expect to at least receive a credit line thanking me for the wonderful idea of where to take their game next when it is finally released to the general public. If they want to pay me too, and/or give me moderator powers on the Sins board, I won't turn it down.
As they have yet to meet my minimum requirements, the Beta must be postponed until the Superior Court of Michigan resolves this issue. As part of the pending litigation, Ironclad and Stardock are not allowed to release any new artwork or information about Sins Rebellion. I apologize to the community at large, but in this day and age where intellectual property is protected at the expense of good hard working people on a daily basis, I feel this is a necessary step.
Thank you all for your understanding.
If you let them finish the game though... they'll actually be giving your ideas back. For a small service fee of course which is perfectly understandable since your idea will then be out of your head and something perfectly usable. And it will probably be better sorted than when it was in your head.
Well?
Disarm... maybe?
if it didn't work...
...REARM ALL NOVALITHS!!!
Reason: Don't want to be the only one not firing
Target: Hmm... all station commanders... indulge yourselves
Let the superweapon standoff begin!
To station commanders: Do NOT fire before anyone else! One thing to be prepared, another completely to watch everything so nicely prepared go up in smoke when it's your own fault.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A bit of randomness on superweapons: The new improved and oh so deadly Deliverance Engine
"We detect a superweapon being built!"
-Advent Wins-
"What the...? I didn't do anything but start building a superweapon... how?"
"Ma'am, after searching the enemy empires it would appear they all laughed to death."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to the standoff!
I was going to make Sins Rebellion... then I took a Novalith to the knee.
Wait.....
I thought you lived in California?
I do, but Stardock is headquartered in Michigan, so since I am a person and can move, and the corporation is an entity and cannot, the case is filed where the company is headquartered. So Michigan.
As to Sinperium saying they telepathically stole his ideas, just remember, this is the same guy who wants everyone to do his mod for him, so they are and are charging him for it. Me? I just want a credit line thanking me for the idea, and anything else is golden. Forum moderator? Anyone? Yes, no? It's not much.
Whence I know understand the current wording on Carbon's TS account.
Well if they hadn't telepathically stolen all of my ideas from me I could do it myself. I live in Michigan too so you get no extra credit for that.
I'm seeing a Dr. Tyrell this week and I think I may be able to persuade him to help re-implant my memories...I really hope Roy and Pris don't forget to pick me up so I can get there. He's a hard man to see.
Huh?
Just roll with it Carbon. Rock and Roll with it until the amps blow out from the awesome-sauce that is that statement of truth.
AWESOMESAUCE!!!!!!
Get tinkerbell's hand away from the Beta Kol Graviton Doomsday button!
Well, don't worry Stant, according to 7DS lore Diplomacy and Rebellion both failed and everyone is back to beat the snickers out of one another.
Mmmm. Snickers. Damn it, now I'm hungry.
They never tell you that "fairy dust" is actually radioactive fall out--do they?
Who cares OP, Ironclad/Stardock made Sins, that gave you the ability to get you're idea in, and this is how you thank them, geez.
I do hope you don't think this is serious....
You might not care, but obviously I do. When you have an idea that get's stolen from you and a profit is made on it, you'll think differently!
For your information, I've had this idea long before either company existed... The game is just an outlet for the story.
I've thanked them with a money purchases over the years including a pre-order purchase of Rebellion having only known the name and the logo... They can thank me with a simple line somewhere. Personally, I think taking 3 seconds on their part to add my name to a list isn't asking a whole hell of a lot.
Geez indeed... Show some gratitude that my idea gives you another expansion to play... Geez...
It may even occur to you that they developed their idea's on their own, perhaps if you thought of that, instead of you're self. Perhaps it was a good enough idea to put in the game.
Alot of stuff that's in Rebellion isn't new, heck things like Titans class units and what not have come from other games (i.e. Eve Online).
They may have the idea for the game way before you did.
Show some respect to these developers, don't outrightly accusing them of stealing you're idea.
Infact, if the idea's are put into the game, that must mean the developers are on the same page as the their customer base is, so I see no reason why anyone would be upset over this.
I agree with Stant123. In fact, because it was the DS crew that got him involved with the whole project, we to demand a line of credit as well. Mods cost time. We want a slice of that time!
Oh, and while you are at it Yarlen, do me a favor and put my name into the credits aswell...
Greedy much? We dont need credit. Just pre alpha access
And can we have an Easter egg Mon Calamari Cruiser?
If we get the Mon Calamari (I love that name) then we also need a Galaxy Class Cruiser.
All for say 'Aye'!
