I need a new laptop (or a very portable desktop).
My old computer has decided to bite the dust and now I would like to buy a new one.
Things I would use it for:
Playing games.
3D Modeling
Writing papers
Programming for school.
I am looking for something reliable that will last me a while, and have the capability to play games on high settings.
anything < $2000
thanks,
I might actually end up with a Qosmio, then.
For your pricerange, it's ideal. Depending on what model you get, you could use the "leftovers" to buy some accessories or even a couple of new games.
EDIT: I'll also note that you could probably buy two Satellite A660-series laptops, and still have "leftovers". But that's my preference-for-price, and for your pricerange the Qosmio series is a really, really good choice.
Thanks.
Yeah, the satellite I've got actually has the same specs as a qosmio for the most part, but I'm assuming they have better graphics cards..
The difference I've found is that Qosmio-series laptops tend to have superior GPUs- and a few other features, such as larger screens. If I had the funds, I would almost certainly be interested in buying a Qosmio-series, but the Satellite A660 model that I'm intending to purchase is perfectly sufficient for my current and projected future gaming needs.
Quite simply, the Qosmio is too much bang for my buck; I'd never use all of its functional capability.
You see, I don't have your humility.
I just want something to game on that doesn't have its battery fall out at inopportune times, or have a giant crack through the shell.
Well, Toshiba does a good job. I'd recommend getting a 12 cell battery instead of the standard 6. Obviously, it's much longer lived, but it also tilts the laptop, making ityping easier on your wrists and cooling itself.
It's not that, it's more a case of the fact that, while I have just gotten a job, I also still need to save money- and the Satellite A660 series helps me to do that, while also allowing me to do the things I want to.
Of course..........I also would like to buy a computer for a close friend of mine. Semi-unfortunately for me, the "box" I'm intent on is one of those stupidly expensive Macs.
Oh well; at least it will be guaranteed to do the job that I envision it having.
I have to save up for college. I am somewhat free to splurge my money on something like this.
thanks.
Yeah, my older brother went into graphic design, so for college he got a laser color printer and a macbook. As a result, I've been able to twist my parents' arms to get a higher end PC. Seriously, a comparable mac (hardware wise) would have cost an additional grand. I like macs, but not that much...
Asus rog gaming laptop are pretty good in my expierence, also depends on the configuration you want
