Hi
I played the last beta at the hardes levels both world and enemies and found it to be a challange. But now they seem to have completely screwed up the AI. I play at the hardest and my settlements never get attaced by any kind of enemy. And the other players are allways behind and are really weak. I did not find this to be the case in the last beta where I struggled to keep up with the other superpowers.
The game no poses no challange what so ever(and Im not some kind of super gamer, its a bug or the like)
The game would be fun if they get the dif settings right.
Also foreign caravans kind of block my city it has enterd so i cant veiw or send caravans of my own
Does anyone agree?
Will not play untill game is fixed
THX /Gordon
I also suspect something's wrong. I ran some tests on ridiculous level with fog of war off, observing how the AI nations develop as I played. I played very casually and without paying too much attention but I still was ahead of most AIs. I even destroyed one of my neighbours without meeting any significant resistance. On ridiculous. And yes, I remember the beta being harder too.
I trust frogboy's AI skills alot (the main reason I preordered) and I think this is just a bug, not actually bad AI. I'm optimistic about the future.
Agreed. Day 0 AI will only be activated in todays patch, so, i think that might be it.
You see I agree with you that the game feels too easy. But if it can get people with your attitude to not play the game ("Will not play untill game is fixed") then maybe that is a blessing in disguise.
What? My attitute? I really like the game, but at this point I think the game is unplayable as i encounter no challages at all. If there is someone with a bad attitude I think its you.
I just reinstalled the game and will se if there is any improvement.
TXH for replying guys
I suspect the Names for the difficulty are wrong or back to front.
I found the Novice setting much harder than Normal.
thx i will try with novice
Wait for the release day patch that is supposed to have AI improvements and then give it a whirl. Patch should be out in about half an hour.
Hey Thx, will do
Fanboys of this game crack me up. Seriously. GalCiv2 is one of my favorite games to this day and I love how Stardock does things, I'm a huge fan, I refer to them vs other companies all the time. I'm not posting my impressions til I play the release version a while but all thru beta I wasn't impressed and I played the build from last night for several hours and felt like I was still in beta.
EDIT: Just realized I was playing 1.01 last night which I think is some type of release build. For a game that cost $50 I'd say this game is in poor shape and needs some work. There's no other way to put it and there is no excuse for it (I don't buy the indie thing, not when you charge $50). I think it has potential, I like some of it, but overall there are a lot of things that are broken, incomplete, or just feel wrong/unbalanced. I also had way too many random CTDs just doing basic stuff like moving my sovereign around or loading saved games. My PC is smoking hot and has fully up-to-date everything on it. No new game should crash this much.
And fix the ESC behavior. Why are Stardock games like GC and Elemental the only games in the universe that do not use normal ESC key behavior? It's maddening.
Ha ha Voqar.
I agree, im not playing the game untill the day-0 patch. Mostly due to crashes which i hope wiil be fixed. I do think the game is very good but lacks a bit of polish in its current state but i read that the day-0 patch should fix some of this to.
But yes the ESC key absolutly needs to go out the window in its current state. It should close windows not pop the option screen!!!! GRRRR!?!
God yes, it's so annoying pressing the ESC by instict, then when properly closing the dialog window, seeing the damn options menu popping up!But i believe that's easy to fix, and i'm sure they will fix it .
PC games usually do bring up the option screen with the hit of the ESC key. Thats one of the first keys I usually try hitting to bring up an options menu without reading the manual. Doesn't bother me.
EDIT: never mind. I see what you guys are saying now.
Don't be so sure unless there's huge community outcry. GalCiv2 had the same exact ESC key behavior and they never changed it. It was equally annoying in that game. Hop into planet screen to tweak something, instinctively hit ESC to get out and boom, options screen, then you're wasting time moving the mouse to close TWO windows instead of one.
glad im not the only one bothered by the escape key. i must have clicked "back to game" a hundered times yesterday!
Never played GalCiv (from what i hear it must be a great game), but i find it weird that not many people found that frustrating. I'm playing Tropico 3 for the past month and i got really used to its ESC key mechanism (which i find quite common sense):
- If there is a dialog window open, ESC closes it.
- If there are no dialog windows open, ESC brings up the main menu
BTW, Tropico 3 has one of the smoothest and most intuitive user interfaces i've ever seen in a game
I actually find it annoying when esc doesnt open the menu in games. I was playing AOE3 last weekend and kept trying to press escape to exit the game or pause the game and nothing. It would be nice to have key bindings though. I wish the arrow keys moved the camera (or better yet, wasd with qe for rotation). The pre 0 patch version has alot of mouse camera jittering when moving and side scrolling doesnt seem as smooth as it should be. Click-drag-move is ok until you have to get across the map. I guess there is zoom out, but zooming in to cursor doesnt work nearly as well as it did in SoaSE.
yeah vxvoodoo, thats how most every game i'v played outside of stardock. you can get used to anything in time, i suppose.
it doesn;t bother me that escape opens the menu, it bothers me that escape opens the menu regardless what is going on in game. imo it should only open the menu if there are no dialogue windows up and you are on the default world view. any other time, it should close windows and/or take you to the default view.
Game is great but many of you must know Trolls are never satisfied and want to redesign every game that comes out.
my appologies, i did not intend to come off as trollish (unless you are trolling me? omw thats tricky!) i LOVE this game, i haven't had a game suck me in like this in a very long time. even with its issues, the pre-release version is a ton of fun. but i don't believe in turning a blind eye to faults because i love the game as a whole.
and the escape key thing isn;t even a fault, its a minor annoyance that I will get used to, but it COULD be more convenient
Relax, it's just feedback. We don't DEMAND a change, we just point out what we find annoying/buggy. I think that's really helpful for the devs to decide what to change and what not in future versions. It's their judgment after all
I certainly wouldn't consider myself a fanboy. I have many issues with the game, I just to try to be polite when voicing them . The tone of Will not play untill game is fixed is rude and obnoxious and I don't like being around rude and obnoxious people.
Try Anno 1404
This may sound weird, and it is it not super clear, but there are 2 ways to affect the difficulty. The "game" difficulty changes how hard the world is as far as I know. There are separate difficulty settings for each faction you put into the game. The the world might be difficult but the factions could still be under normal.
Nope, i have them both set at the hardest difficulty and the game is way too easy. This was not the case in the beta.
