I want to have a reseaech prerequisite another but I don't want/can't have the arrow. Basicly I want the research to be above the one that pre-requisites it, in the same tier but up a row. I know the arrow is only able to go to the next tier or down a row, but is the arrow really that important. Do'se it have to be there. If so can the arrow's be altered so they go up. Or also can you have it so a pre-requisited research is on the other side of another unrelated research button, or in any other place an arrow can't access.
Edit; Ok! so I have worked out that the arrows are not neccesarily needed, its only the dev.exe that give's an error. It would still be nice to have them though. Can it be done?
No. Reorganize your research tree.
Thanks for the info. Regretfully that won't be possible, without changing the tiers that the game uses. I don't want to change anything, tier wise, with original Dip. Just add to it. Oh well, no arrows it is.
The tiers are not locked to their horizontal positions within the tree, so you could always reorganize them to fit two rows instead of one for a single "tier". The issue you'll run into primarily with this is usability, and with changes to the backdrop texture this could be overcome (different colored blocks or columns, etc). The second would be simply running out of columns, and with some rearranging that might not be an issue. I haven't seen Diplomacy's research tree so I can't say whether that's possible.
The button with 2 heads looking at each other is the 1 I have put in, 2nd row down, 3rd column in. I don't see any way around it unless I can increase the size of the block to fit another row. Is that possible?
Or could I put in another block and have the research chain go down into that if I re-arrange the original so the 3 heads that are linked run along the bottom of the original block?
Oh, forgot about that. Yes, just increase the size of the block in the Player*whatever*.entity file and you can add additional rows. I don't remember what the size of each row typically is, but if you divide the height by the # of rows in the block you should get the height you need to add to create another one.
And yes, research can cross blocks, so that would work too.
Ok!, no worries. Thanks for the info, I should be able to work it out. This is good, I was thinking about adding another research to the chain, so that will all be possible now.
Thanks again for your help. [e digicons][/e] [e digicons][/e]
