Regarding the 1v1 maps, whoever is managing the tournament should pick out the ones he wants to use and then have mappers add 8 spectator spots.

Being in constant practice and being very familiar with the "flavor of the patch" killer strategy gives players an edge online.  The best players probably can't really identify who is the "very best" because it is pretty subjective.  Some players are better in some roles or on some types of maps than others.  No one wins every game, and people tend to remember the times they beat you while dismissing the times they lost to "bad luck".  And besides, many of them don't want to be known as "the best" they just want to smurf the crap out of you.

Krath is extremely good and certainly a candidate.  The 1v1 we played a while back when I returned from a hiatus was an excellent chance to see how Vasari were stacking up against a well played TEC.

I think there are a lot of good players right now.  People tend to hold some of the old timers in the highest regard when it comes to skill, but it could just as easily be a more recent arrival who has benefitted from all of the information available on the forums, plays the game constantly, and has mastered the flavor of the month.

The thing is, checking back on this, I don't see many people signing up to play.  You can't just nominate the people you think are best and put them in a playoff.  Everyone seems to want to see a replay, but where is the line of people who want to play??

I'm with JJ, you would probably have to track stats by CD key to really know what was going on.  If there was a benefit to being known as the best, why are their so many smurfs? 

ps.  I considered JJ my biggest contender when my gaming dropped off back in April.  He has played how many games since then?!   You does the math.

You spin a hook with the title like it is though, and most people can't help thinking how to stack up a tourney in interests of ," Calling out the best player on ICO".  IMO, to do that, you have to include those in current form like Krath, Greyfox, Archnemesis, fortune, and several others. 

I agree that for a proper competition, perhaps a comprehensive skillset would require a playoff type picture to include one game minimum against each opponent playing each race, and an elective elimination series (if needed) of two or more games when a player is facing elimination and using player prefered race.  The mapsets could be predertemined (I particularly like the 8 spectator option), and in later rounds selected by the top seeds. I'm not sure exactly how, but I think an elimination ladder could be structured to include all of this.

What I am sure of however is that all of the replays would be awsome and a lot of fun to watch.

Replays I wanna see: Cykur vs Tyr, then Winner Takes on JJ.

Having, "Calling Out the Best Player in ICO.." in the title is just hollow and shameless sensationalism.  It ignores all the players that others might have in consideration.  Because of this, your premise is frankly indefensible.

Tournament style gameplay is not a means of deciding the champion.  Whoever loses the first game will not be able to combat jj.  Everyone needs to fight everyone once, or 2/3, and the player with the most wins is champion.

In the event of a tie, a new competition will take place with all tied members involved, same rules.  Repeat until victory, or stalemate.

This is the only way to be accurate, because there are more than one opponent out there, and just because there is one person you can't beat, doesn't mean he/she can beat everyone they fight.  Hell, you might be the only one they can beat for some reason.  Then you're eliminated and the competition becomes meritless.

btw, why wasn't Amish/Darvin included there somewhere?  They seem to really know the game/strategy here.

Exile noone will sign up if they are required to play x amount of games or x amount of people.Thats why its better left up to the players.If you want to see any replays of the most skilled players then it needs to be at their leisure.They have already tried a more formal tourny.Altho I dont think this one will take off it was worth a try.

Because we're the guys who are known for being book smart. Darvin and I fall into the category of know just about everything there is to know, but in terms of experience, we don't have as much as others just cause we don't play as much. A lot? Well....once upon a time I was the JJ, and Cykur was my Tyrs, but not anymore.

I have the same problem darvin.Tho I love taking a crack at him everychance I get.Im always hoping I start next to him when he is on opposing team.

Proto do you even play online cause I never see you.You obviously dont know what you are talkin about and unless you are willing to state you can beat jj tyr or cykur 1v1 then su.I have been playing mp for a long time.jj and tyr prob have more like 1500-2000 games in mp.Please tell me who you know on ico that has that many games.Its an open ended tourny so all can challenge and post replay.So why do you keep complaining?

i would love to take part in this...so i take any challengers and i challenge any one thatwants to give this a go, but be aware im not one to ask for nor grant rematches, and win or lose ill post the replay on here...so bring it on
