This is what I would like to see.
Cykur vs Tyr222
Winner vs JJ
Maps shall be premade (from sanchez or astax) and agreed upon by both parties. Both parties shall agree ahead which race they will play. Both parties shall have access to map ahead of time for creation of strategies pregame.Parties may agree to best out of 1 or 3.Winning game replay shall be posted.Winner takes all and is champ.
Game will be based off pure map equality and pure strategic and micro skill for all of ICO community.(at least to me as I would rate these top 3).1v1 ladders are extremely difficult to organize and keep up so I would love to see this small tourny take place and keep it simple. If there are those that would like to challenge them with same maps and rules and post it then they can boast.
These would be the mother of all replays so CYKUR COME BACK TO GAME and all take part and show us your skills
Here is maps of choice for 1v1 to download:

Perhaps the best player should be able to play all the factions- and we'd get a high calibre set of replays for game balance purposes, as if there had been an entire tournament? Maybe we should have a champion-system, like chess or boxing, rather than a tournament system- it might be easier?
It's not me -- I could have been a contender last year, but not right now.
I'm still good, but I'm not the best, and don't have the time or inclination to get back up to that level.
Let me know who wins!
Well, a few 1v1 maps I might recommend from the map pack I assembled:
Come on Cyk, don't be a pussy! We'll give you a week to knock the rust off and get your skills back. Show us what you got!
Its funny the rest of the online community is asking for this. I'm sure if these players wanted to decide once and for all who is the best, they would do so one their own terms, and probably free of such public attention. Besides as Cykur mentioned, part of it is just getting warmed up, and at certain levels it can be the decisive factor for who wins.
That comment is surprising from someone who complains as much as you do about the toxicity of the online community.
EDIT. Was responding to Agent of Kharma
Sorry darvin I forgot you made maps as well.lol Sunny had a feeling youd be interested .Desconner noone will put that much time into a 1v1.It not like they have anything to lose just a friendly competition. They will still be the best on ico.Sorry to hear that cyk I was hopin you be interested.I always thought you were underrated and probably the best.Seems like right now is a decent time cause balance is ok.So we just need to hear from Tyr and jj.
Cykur, I hope you didn't take that wrong, I meant no disrespect. It was a joke - a playful way to say "hey man, I want to see you play!" I should have thrown a smiley face or two in there to make sure everyone knew I was playing.
Apologies man!
Personally I feel that overall, based on the most recent performances; Krath has taken the leading edge in the current group of all tier one players. His grasp of the game is 2nd to none right now IMO and his play style continues to be very adaptive. His main strength is that he is very proactive in recognizing developing situations and responds accordingly in an impressively rapid fashion. I draw these inferences because I have watched countless replays of him with JJ, Tyr, Amish, Cykur, and many other notable players to name a few.
As he grows in his situational awareness, and his knowledge and experience of opponent play styles, his strategy and tactics repertoire will only further develop. Of course this case can be made for many of the upper tiered players, but in Kraths case, he is separating himself from the pack right now due to his volume of games played, innovative application of fleet composition, and his dedication to form.
And I must say that his in-game personality is assertive yet practical. He does not hesitate to offer direction to bolster his allies, or even criticisms of the consequences of their actions, but his demeanor is always realistically supportive, and not counterproductive to the combined effort of his team. He backs down from no one, and he is a fine sport in defeat.
In short, I would nominate Krath, as an excellent role model for the up and coming player, but I think he would be the first to acknowledge those respected players that helped and I'm certain continue to help him as a valuable source of input in their dialogue and camaraderie. The banter and exchange between many of the top players illustrates the fellowship involved in a loose (but in a tight way) affiliation of players committed to optimal enjoyment of the game.

Some of Krath's replays:
Mirth 88 Pack
Amish Replays
Edit: I guess what I'm saying is you need to include Krath in your "playoff picture"
That doesn't exactly guarantee a fair match. The randomness of mines and pirates could pretty easily tilt the scales in one player's favor or the other. In a match as intense as you're asking for, the smallest advantage is going to be exploited.
Well they can play a map without neutrals then. They can also play best out of 3 if they think the extractors were uneven beyond that its about as equal as you can get in this game.
That'd probably work. You've definitely peaked my attention. I'll be lookin for replays.
I know would be cool wouldn't it..Thing is if we cant get the top 2 or 3 players to play not much point in branching out to give the rest a chance.Everyone is invited tho this is more of an independent thing than official. These are matches I would like to see then its up to them if they want to continue to put time in or not and play challengers. That makes the competition simple and easy.Anyone can post their own replay.Main thing to me is make the maps premade and least amount of random so that players rely on skill. It shouldnt eat up to much time if they make the map small.1v1 should be quick .If people are interested tho feel free to challenge someone and then post the replay.
Hey Darvin,Astax,And sanchez post up the links to your mappacks please.I will put them in op.
If you save the game immediately after the game starts you could balance resources as well.
You just have to save 10-20 games and there will be one with equal( or nearly) resources.
I am also hopping for some good replays ...
i think the map pack is here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/365777
Yes, that's the map pack. It contains work by several authors, including DirtySanchezz, Desconnor, Harpo, Astax, and me.
Davin's pack (which includes my stuff) can be found here:
Thanks guys.
Theres been many attempts to do ranking, but all have failed from tyrs call out board to a website dedicated to a ladder system. Would suggest that ICO does a ranking system tracked by cd key
Yes yes but this is between the only 2 people that I know of with over 1000 games on each account You guys should match up at least once on the game and post it for all to see before you all move on.
This isnt a ladder system but a 1 time event between the 2 most experienced players of the game .You guys dont have to keep it up or anything just post the replays.Everyone that wants to see should post.
I think there might be a way to galaxyforge set exact number of militia and extractors.
Extractors are impossible. Militia can be done technically, but you'll need to take off the default template and manually create the militia for every planet, or create a template that has no variablility. And to actually change it to militia you need to open the map up in notepad, Galaxy Forge refuses to do it for some reason.
Please let us know if you figure it out.
Is it still impossible even if you open up the .txt files and adjest settings for each planet? I'm guessing it is.
