Title says it all. Anyone heard any word on this. I know that a petition was started a while back but I question the effectiveness. I don't want to purchase it from Steam but will if I have to.
I don't think it is. But I want it on Impulse.
Maybe it will come but I think it will be US only on Impulse.
And on Impulse, probably infested with Securom and yet Steam won't have it (Securom). Not sure what the deal is with that.
Because it is infested with Steam instead
Are you unfamiliar with the difference between Securom and Steam, or are you just trying to be cute? If Steam can offer a game without additional security, Impulse should be able to do the same.
Yes I know the differences, and it was half joking. The fact is though that Steam has the ability to act as it's own DRM since you have to have their client running and be logged into their servers to play it(offline mode is a joke). Depending on the type of SecuROM used that can actually be more restrictive. I'm not really knocking Steam(I have close to 50 games through them), I just think publishers sometimes feel Impulse itself is not enough DRM for them since once the item is installed you never have to start up Impulse again to use it. Not that SuckuROM is much of a DRM, it's always cracked easily enough.
I hear you there. I consider Steam the utlimate type of DRM because that client is required and because with out it, you pretty much no access to your games. No Valve/Steam and you loose your entire library. And despite how excited people are about that company now, rewind ten years and there are a handful of gaming companies and publishers people felt the same about who are no longer around today. Some versions of Securom can be worse as I have seen as little as 2 activations and online activations required on some titles. I know not all Securom versions are equal, but Securom has this title on their sites, and Impulse doesn't seem to remove that infestation.
I want the physical disc version of the game simply so I can install it on any PC I want, but then again a disc will have DRM that caused damage to a PC for me before requiring a reformat. I'll choose Steam over SecuROM anyday, but I'd rather Borderlands be on Impulse without DRM. The biggest gripe I have with Steam is they don't use normal install directories, which makes installing mods or extras a total pain (GMod and Spacebuild 3 come to mind). Hold up, if I get the disc version it will be easier to download and use no-cd.SecuROM cracks, but these can be useless in online games because they detect such stuff. Guess Steam it is for me then, at least I'll be able to quickly invite friends to a game, the only feature Steam keeps enticing me with.
By the way I was getting ready to make a post asking if Borderland is coming to Impulse.
It is not coming to Impulse on release day.
I made a thread under Impulse and it got answered.
