U GUYS R RUINING THE GAME (AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE LACK OF COMMUNITY IN THIS GAME)....PLEASE PUT THE FACT THAR UR A PREMADE IN THE GAME TITLE....INSTEAD OF FORCING US TO CHECK BY LOOKING U UP.....
many thanx from a pugger.
I think your solution that mess is declaring your premade in the title, as its very unlikely a pug player will jump in...but perhaps I'm wrong...did actually put premade in the title..or were u trying for a 5v5 premade vs pug? if yes..well..what do u expect....I hope it took ur hours to get the game going..u probably got a few people who actually check..and they quit..which probably crashed the game..(yet..I konw..the freaking stabilty still sux..but it is night and day..from what we had..
3v3 vs 4v4 where one is 'swing player' I think you shoudl be able to handle that..if ur arguing premade vs pug is fair? (which I know ur not....but yes..the match making system is kinda sux..so we need to fix it...but by making the titles of our games more explantory).
I'm sorry I think you misunderstood me... and I apoligize..regardless if I'm on the winning side, or losing side in the lobby..i abort the game occasionaly as I do not want play an unfair game.
I.e. If I'm on the heavly favored team I will sometimes abort the game..and likewise..if I'm on the heavily unfavored team to lose..I will abort on occasionly.
I believe in order to have a challenging game skills level should be 'close'..a game where team 1 has an 80% win record vs a team with a 30% win record..generally is not much fun..regardless of what side ur on. (imho)
How would you decide skill level? Does knowing the people you're playing with automatically zoom your entire teams skill level up or something? Cus some of my friends are awful at the game, but because I know them we're of course pre-made so we're at pro-level of skill instantly most people assume.
If premades advertise as premades, no-one will ever join their games.Simple as.
Anyway if they get 3 good randomers joining, it probably ends up being a close game, hence why they advertise as "pro only".
thats just bad hosting. some people want to finish the game, even if they are losing because they might actually learn something new.
You can put whatever you want in the title and random people still join. Also... Just because I would like to play other premades, that doens't mean A: They want to play me, or B: Those I play with will be in the mood to do it.
As to the 3v4 thing, our whole point in playing together is because we don't want to play with random people. People who can't play the game will lose more games than people who can play the game will win. It's just like any other game/sport. More games are lost through poor play/mistakes, than are won by good play.
This is breaking down into the catagory of "I'm going to lose because you have friends." Making friends isn't that tough. Play a few games with someone you think is about your skill level. Make your own premade! Then you can experience the other side first hand.
And please don't wish me ill like I'm some sort of horrible person for playing with my friends in the only way available to me. It makes you look bad and doesn't harm me in the slightest.

Premades should declare it in the game title.
It's not about skill or fairness. It's about being honorable players and being upfront about the fact that you're playing with a team you're familiar with, and are quite possibly using voice chat in the background to coordinate better.
I think what most pugs want : is an easy win.
This is like the dude who brings a knife to a fist fight calling the other guy a wimp for shying away from the challenge. It's clearly the premades who face no challenge, in pug vs. pug the challenge level is appropriate.
The reason why you never heard about premades in starcraft was because everyone could see everyone's record without tasking out and risking crashing. No one gave a shit about premades because if one team was 189-5, 237-5, and 142-1 and were fighting teams that were say 4-13, 39-32, and 9-15 they'd be laughed out of the game like a bad fucking joke.
Oh wait, those weren't just made up numbers, those are YOUR AND YOUR LAST OPPONENTS' STATS ITCHYDUSTBIN and you have the gall to tell people they're afraid of a challenge? You are out of your goddamn mind.
Other games have had far superior means to determine skill levels before the start of a game. DG has virtually none. Premades are only part of the resulting problem. Pugs going up against other pugs who have played dramatically different numbers of games is unacceptable too, and I would even say that because premades are currently a minority of the community it's a more pressing issue than the premades one.
The game needs team balancing, period. I've seen plenty of premades with average win rates. It's not about premades it's about having even matches.
It amazes me to what lengths some people will go to so that they can justify their need to stomp pugs. Yes, this game doesn't allow team matching yet, but why not take your team and go against the many obvious premade games that sit open for long periods of times. It's perfectly fine to tell the pugs that going against premades is a challenge (premade doesn't equal skill, but it means they have an advantage and it's not exactly a 'fair' game), but premade versus premade is practically taboo. The fact is that most pugs now spend most of their time reviewing stats of games to avoid the many premades loitering in the game waiting for randoms. It would be great if all the pugs could start forming premades, but Stardock/GPG has not made that easy by any means thanks to a broken friends system and non-existant clan support. Stardock/GPG are partially responsible for the lackluster/dwindling community, but those ruining the spirit of competition by trying to get the easiest/quickest win are equally responsible. If you create a game, whether it be pug or premade, have the courtesy play a 'fair' game and show some sportsmanship!
wow itcy I didn't peg u for a noob...whiel u can't get 'skill level' u can get an overall guess as to peoples skill by looking at the pantehon rankings..give it try...
I welcome a challenge, find someone with stats that equate to my teams that we haven't played already? Oh wait, good luck with that because the entire stat and ladder system is FUBAR, and shows very little of a persons skill. You are also dissproving dano's theory that you can gain a "good idea" from pantheon stats,
I am not an amazing or even a very good player, I am average, there are just very few pre-mades and even fewer good pug players to play against. Most people in this game don't know much about the game, they also seem to mostly be anti-teams and teamwork, so they are obviously not all that great at the game, as is evidenced from the large win-record we achieved with games named things like "very good players", "dont suck" etc, quite a few of the matches are against pre-mades too.
also edit storm.
I can feel it...
can the rest of you feel it...
this thread contains so much of it...
imma gonna explode with it...
can't take much more of it...
what is it????
If more players were aware of the stats page all of games would be as hard to start for you as ones with premade in the name.
That reflects some major problems with the game, but in the meantime it's not reasonable for you to try to call out people who want a good game for avoiding challenges, because there's no way anyone with over a 90% win rate is fighting truly challenging games with any frequency.
If this game had real matchmaking the majority of players would have 50% win rates.
You say that the stats are bad about gauging skill levels. That's not completely true. They offer no means to gauge whether the rank 1 or rank 100 players would win if they fought each other or if the rank 22,000 and 24,000 were to fight, but they're obviously quite effective at predicting the outcome of a fight between the rank 100 and rank 22,000 players, which is literally what the majority of these pub stomp matches are.
I know this is probably late, but....
What a "high rocker" might look like:
See this is where opinions will probably differ, I feel "Be Good" or "Good players only" is a very big warning in any game that your opponents are going to be at least somewhat organized regardless of knowing each other or not, but most players in Demigod seem to be of a different opinion, and that opinion is that teamwork has nothing to do with your level of play.
I don't care if you can interrupt Oak's Shield animation 100% of the time if you're just going to ignore all communication/organization attempts in-game and do your own thing.
I could start putting "184-9, 148-6, 237-5" etc in game-titles or something though, see if it takes as many hours to fill as games with "Premade" in the title do. Of course the game will just eventually fill up with people who have no idea what the numbers are, just like the games with "Premade" in the title fill up with people who have no idea what one is.
It was just an absurd statement.
Bottom line, its impossible to define "premades" with all the variables out there. So just show a nice ranking number next to each player, and have a match making system that tries to match up skill levels. Unfortunately from the posts going on lately I fear this is never going to happen.

so what ur saying ......is its ok to premade vs pug...without advertising..why?? becuase ur looking for an easy win?
or r u scared to that another premade might actually join up to fight u?
think about what ur saying......ur saying premades don't want to fight other..or there r not enough premades out there..which I don't buy..because half the freaking game r premades...
lol void u crack me up
Tukulis..ur saying...u can put whatever u want in the title...(well then put premade)...
oh wait..u further say:
"Those I play with will be in the mood to do it" ( I assume u actually mean will NOT be in the mood based on context).
I from that I infer that you mean..those I play with do not want to play another pre-made....hmm I wonder why that would be..after all...pug/premade..its all fair..right? isn't that what ur trying to say...
sigh..I guess basted on ur 'opionion' those of that r pugs should say..
be good, but not premade...
OR..good player only (no premade)
wHy not PREMADE ONLY <-- this assumption most people see here...premade == good/decent caliber players..
I.E. i believe premade and good players is redundant..(but ur right..that is also not a an assumption I should make based on teh all gazzilion premades outthere..who refuse to identify themselves....for some reason or another..I guess they actualy care about rank!! rofl...)
RobWild..I agree..the definition of premade can be skethcy..but I think....we would all agree that if...
I ask or someone asks someone to switch teams..and they say NO..then I can legally declare premade..(now they may not actually be a strategly orgnized preformed team...but regardless..if they will not entertain changing teams..(hopefully with the goal to make the teams more balanced)..something is wrong...If ur playing with friends..well thats all fine and dandy..but u would rather have FUN..or play with friends have an overwelming win..I would rather lose in a close game....
So for my purposes...A premade = a team that will not split up. (be that they never played together..before..or maybe they did)..obviously this is nto exaclty correct..but for the purposes of this discussions its the best approximation I can come up with.
I would love a stat: player Y has played with player X N times on the same team (with a win rate of X %).
that would be an interesting stat indeed for those in the top 70 percentile...something tell me there will be one hell of an overlap..but perhaps I will proven wrong..
premade-a match that contains a team of players that have organized the game ahead of time. that wasnt very hard
why dont we go out of our way to find other premades who dont put premades in their title? because its too much work. untill they put team matchmaking and such into the game its not worth it. just because we're better than you doesnt mean we want to either A. put premade in our title and wait half an hour for another premade, or B. hop from lobby to lobby looking for another premade
