I have never ordered a expansion pack, or a videogame for that matter beside a free test demo, from the net before. I am using a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4034 Laptop and a wireless signal from Turner Cable/Belkin modem here in the US. I was using a better laptop (that one could play Medieval Total War and C&C 3, this one cannot and just barely plays SoaSE if I have the details for the enviroment turned way down- you only need to know a planet is there for gameplay, not how pretty it is- my better, newer laptop conked on me so this is what I am stuck with.)
My concerns are: If I order the expansion pack Entrenchment, and the other ones expected out, will there be a processing issue for whatever reason where I cannot play it? Secondly, will it just consist of me clicking 'yes' and it does all the hardwork itself- like when I buy a exansion pack from a store- or do I have to fidure out what expansionfiles go where? Do I have to burn a seperate disk for this to work and not use the Sins disk I bought at the store (Kain's Wrath is like that- you don't use the older disk for the expansion pack- so I end up with a bunch of disks for essentially the same game). My computer does have a RW DVD drive, but I never, ever have used it, perfering thumbdrives, and am a bit nervous about trying to burn a program off the net to it. If this is as simple as hitting accept from my email, and watching a progress bar run across my screen, and it doing it all itself without me having to burn anything, and not changing the dynamics of the game engine to a point where it will no longer function on my laptop, then I will certainly buy it ASAP- cause this is definetly the best game focusing on real time Jomini style 'Grand Tactics' out there, period. Ihave studied military strategy since I was a kid, and this comes closer to testing the mind more than any other game I have ever played before.... and the price of the game and expansion packs are very reasonale. Just I don't know much about computer technicle stuff, and am nervous this is going to flop somehow and I won't be able to play even the old version after I try without uninstalling everything.... and I refuse to jeopardise my space pony trophy, you have no idea how hard it was to find that.
(Weird thing, I was already apparently a member of this site, though I never logged on to this forum before. User name and Password is what I usually use.... very weird Dr. Who stuff going on here)
It should be pretty self explanatory. It should guide you a long step by step to get it going. If you want help from stardock a long the way I'm sure they'd be glad to. They have great customer support
I ment CPU and interference. How it is set up now, I can listen to audiobooks as I play, so I have a little room computationally to spare, but did not know if it was enough, because if I don't have the graphics near all the way down, even if it is the only thing running, it takes a hour for everything to load map wise- very annoying- so I know I am close. They really should make a little pointer for people like me who are looking to buy it but unsure about doing so we know it's okay to take the plunge.
Well, according to the minimum specifications for Entrenchment, you should be ale to run it, although it'll be rather close. Entrenchment dosen't appear to use much more CPU than the origional Sins; and if you can run an audiobook on the origional, I don't see why the programs should interfere (other than the limited resources). As Rocky_Tooth mentioned, if you run into any issues, just send up another post.
Good luck!
Just paid the 9.95- and have no download link. That's ten dollars uselessly thrown into the void of the internet.
