Congratulations on winning 100 games in a row without bugging out!

It's definitely for the lulz.

Srsl can somebody tell me what's the idea behing topics like this ? Flexing your or your friends epeen to noobs ?
Anybody who has experience in games which have a competition element know that big win streaks/high win percentage only means you are bashing players who are much lower skilled than you. Your winstreak means only that you are average or a bit above average demigod player(since you only play in at).
Play only arranged team games against the guys in the top50 and come back if you have 100 win streak against them. Then you have a right to make epeen topic like this.
mawdudi,
You do have a good point, but I'm more impressed from a technical standpoint than a "he's great" standpoint. The game is so much better than its been in the past (regarding crashes, etc), but I could not previously imagine playing 100 games without a crash or someone host disconnecting or blah. Unfortunately, the only possible way to get a 100 game win streak is by playing premades with someone you know as the host, but you still have to be a pretty good player to get that far without cheating. Granted, its his teammate that made this post (who I believe got busted on a 100 game win streak due to a bug or crash)...

But then we'd only get to play less than 1game/week, everyone thinks it's easy as hell to play against other arranged teams, it is stupidly hard to find other teams WILLING TO PLAY AGAINST YOU via chat or from hosting a lobby. This is all thanks to the no team auto-match btw.
Also "average" players don't beat the premade teams in the top 50 according to your logic, which RapierX has on several occasions so stop belittling his skill. And it's not as if the ranking "lol top 50" means anything at all though because of the wonky stats, so your point is invalid in more than one way.

Premades (teams that are arranged in advance, often using voice chat): if someone asks you if you are a premade team (they should ask if they have any concern), tell them the truth. If you don't, you are being a jerk.
PUGS (pick up games): be alert if you don't want to be in a premade. Ask them if they are premade. If they tell you they are, you play, lose, and then complain... you are being a jerk.
I've asked several times if the game I joined is a premade and everytime the host appears to tell the truth. Other times, if it seems crystal clear that the game I joined is a premade (without my asking), I just leave in the lobby. Sometimes, they tell me its a premade and I play anyway.
What's the worst that could happen? Your stats could get screwed in a system that the pubs alreadly admit is jacked up?
I think we can all agree that a premade team with 3 people who work well together SHOULD beat any team of 2 and a random. The competative matchup would logically be 3 good premades vs 3 good premades. I can easily say that a team like Shadow and Itchydustbin, et all are bound to win by playing against just anyone, but honestly, we all play this game because we enjoy it. If they only played when there was a premade team up to snuff, then they'd MAYBE play weekly (if you are interested in creating a premade to crush them, let me know). [e digicons][/e] But that said, I don't fault them in the slighest for taking their premade on the road and kicking some butt. Do I think that people like Shadow, et all, could get 100 wins just playing customs without their teams? No. Not a chance in hell. They'd have to be insanely good AND incredibly lucky due to technical stats. Prove me wrong by playing 8 games without your team. But, you don't have to because I'd enjoy to see a 200 win streak.
100 already? I hope that hip replacement lasts!

I still think the lack of in-game communication is one of the biggest problems contributing to the current state of affairs. Instead of being able to easily message someone from your friends list "hey join xxx's game" you're stuck with random joins if your team is not host. Actually, the assertion that half-decent players recognize teams and don't play those games is true most of the time, leading to pretty messed up matchups. I know I do it myself - I will join a premade game, see who is on my side and leave 90% of the time (sorry if I pissed anyone with it). I will however stay and play if I recognize the people with me, but still most of my games now are with few different teams, winning pretty much all of them.
A working friends message system and /stats command would have helped a lot in reducing these problems.
Grats on the great streak.
nothing special with his premade team No need to post this on board.
And mawdudi is right against a good premade team u dont do 100 wins Dont be proud to bash noobs.
To be fair, Shadow's streak should be like 140-something, except for one unfortunate crash. Him, Rapier, Rogdan, and Dustbin are probably 4 of (if not the) best players out there, and every game with 'em is entertaining as hell. Playing without your team proves nothing, as it fails to showcase one of the most vital skills of Demigod (teamwork), while putting the rest of the game options up for a gigantic lottery. We've played all the 'premades' that rose to the challenge, and even a game or two where we were outnumbered by the enemy players, just to up the challenge- it's not as if we've actively sought idiots to curbstomp, quite the opposite. Our frustrations have been primarily concerned with the lack of decent opponents- there's just not as much competition as we would like.
Nothing needs to be proven, those magnificent bastards certainly don't need me to stroke their egos.
...This has been a TAG production.
I think he's most proud of not crashing for 100+ games [e digicons][/e]
And we all know most of their wins are by bashing noobs in 15min minion spamfests using what may be next target for the nerf stick. But arent we all getting most of our wins by bashing noobs. It's just that good games are so hard to set-up and even when you manage to get one (like we did yesterday pRoneG), there is still the chance of someone crashing (lucky sometimes crashes dont register at all) [e digicons]O:)[/e]
maybe I read it wrong, but page 3 shows a loss and there is a N/A on page 1.
Wow......just wow.....
100 games and this guy still says lets make another custom game and smash on noobs. Never once does he think I'd like a challenge? Wow...
His last 10 games:
So please tell what are noobs doing joining games clearly marked as good players only??
Congratulations, even if I doubt this was warranting a topic (2 if you count your other one where you were whining about having 1 single disconnect).
That is impressive and i am sure you are some really good players, but even if you deny it, this is just epeen boosting. What would have been much more interesting would be saying something like:
well, we've had a long win strike, here is why, and explain the type of team you've done and played against, little trick which have been useful, etc...
something like that would have been great for the community
Just host a game, and even crash won't "mess" your stats ! If host pulls the plug out, game won't save at all.Yesterday i had a game, when I got slightly advantage in gold with high ranked player (he was the host), and after 15 minutes of playing he just killed his connection, so he is still "unbeaten" (I don't see this game in my stats at all and he hasn't got it in his as well !!). I'm not saying i would win, but I assume he had more to "lose" than I to "win". So yeah make it 1000 wins in a row... I just don't care. Those "records" are childish anyway. But well, everyone plays his own game. I'm playing for fun, some people are playing just to crush randoms in every single game and be higher in ranking. Fine for me until I can avoid those players.
I have to agree with others posting in that winning 100 games against PuGs is not really impressive, but managing to not get the game to crash is. What's really funny though is that those that run with premades complain about how there aren't any premades to play against, yet last night for the hour I played, 8 out of the 10 games I bothered to search the host showed they were premades with over 90% wins. Now isn't that odd?
Well, we've had a long win streak. The lack of sufficient competition that is willing to play us at any one time is the biggest reason why. The second reason is the number of good people in our group and how well we work together. We've all played premades against many of the "top 10 teams" and won, others just aren't on at the same time as we are.
I usually play Erebus, Rook or Oak, RapierX plays Sedna, CdrRogdan plays Beast or Oak, Dustbin plays Torchy, Oak or Rook and _PINK/Murth plays Queen or Regugay.
The biggest trick(s) that have been useful are team coherency and patience. We play well together: in any serious game no one has an ego that must be stroked by netting the most kills or getting the highest favor. We never go into a game planning to get a kill and are content with simply pushing people out of our lane. We don't run away when one of our teammates is in trouble and yell at each other when one of us is overextending. Basically, we will bore you to death and win.
The mechanics of Demigod are not hard, it only takes a few days for your mind to acclimate to the sparse few hotkeys and maybe a few more days of experimentation to learn the proper items for the build you play. At the highest levels what determines who wins is less about the skill of the team and more about the Demigods chosen.
What Demigod needs right now is team automatch and replays. At that point skill-levels will really become apparent. There is a whole other dimension of play available that is currently not necessary 99% of the time and thus goes underutilized and certainly under-appreciated by all but the most competitive of teams.
Minions are currently the most powerful strategy in the game, especially against uncoordinated teams. That does not mean your whole team can go minion builds, you will get crushed. You generally need a tank team and a harasser that causes the most trouble when he's left alone because everyone is focusing on the tank team.
A few maps are broken, particularly Leviathan. It needs more towers around the Citadel. Prison is also broken because the highest DPS team wins. Crucible can be bottlenecked early with a Rook but a minion build can ultimately turn it around. This map needs another lane.
The Horn of Battle is too powerful because it has no range limitation. It needs to be limited to no greater than 30 yards, perhaps even the radius of the Oak's Spirit Ward. As it is right now it can be activated no matter where your minions are on the map and thus you are able to project the power of at least one Demigod in one area and still have your (admittedly quite squishy) Demigod available to go do something else. A range limit would force your Demigod to be exposed.
Anything else you'd like to know?
I think this post was kinda made as a joke...rather than shadow and his team flexing their muscles. Most people, including them, know that the comptetive ladder for custom games isn't a big deal.
Whenever there was a problem getting enough people to join a dota game late at night, I would always remake the game with "proz" in the title.
Worked every single time.
thank you for the informations. For me, who's far from being a great player, i can get a few tips and I enjoy very much your explanations. you turn a moronic thread into an informative one for me, thats +1 karma for you good sir[e digicons][/e]
Being illiterate is a requirement for being a noob nowadays.

Pretty much, yeah. We really don't take ourselves seriously.
