To be honest, it is looking good, it looks much better since I lasted tested it (duh) but it nice to see it progress to have have the dominion in there now
btw, I have been experimenting with the capital ship explosions, wouldn't it simulated explosions in Star trek, if all of the ships used the capital ship explosions. Not all frigates / crusiers just blow up into pieces, they usually linger for a while before then blow up

but one think nerfs me again why are the galor cruisers so underpowerd? i mean 1 galor class can fight agains 3 brels and win if the commander is not a fool. i mean its a cruiser. some say its in version 3 a heavy cruiser. and 3 galors can defeat a galaxy.
(and 2 galors and 1 hedeki can put down a vorcha )
in the video the cardassians should easy win agains these kling brels and the 3 old cruisers.

FYI The cardassian units that are in game currently have not been balanced yet.
the Galors in the game have been balanced actually....
Galors are frigates not cruisers, they were replaced by better cruisers and the keldon is a capital ship

Well, in the mod, it's a frigate.
We had more than just the cardassians to deal with in the way of ships, if we favored them then the breen and dominion would have less ships or ships in places they really don't belong. Also we can't go perfectly canon and get a good balance (speaking of which, a lot of "canon" stuff contradicted itself depending on who wrote what episode, so being "canon defeats itself anyway) which leads us to the logical conclusion to just balance the mod.
With the cardassians having been merged with the dominion, this isn't really possible. Besides, having a bunch of copies of the same ship with just different stats, kinda defeats the purpose imo.
There are other card cruisers like the brutus which we felt would make better cruisers. The Galor didn't go without love though, it is a heavy frigate. We knew that some people would disagree with the Galor as a frigate, but lets face it, Cards are limited in ship designs, so we had to go with non-canon ships. However, we felt the non-canon ships would make better cruisers. I also felt that making the Galor too light would cause issues, so i made it a heavy frigate instead.
Lets face it trek is all non standard, if we don't make a line of which ships are which, then every ship would be considered a cruiser, and whats the fun in that? go lookup databases and see which canon ships are frigates, cruisers for each race. You'll find just about every limited ship directory is a cruiser. for some examples
Klingons:
Vorcha
kvort
Brel (if youu account for all its refits its also a cruiser) most common ship in production
D7 (still used in the fleet if you account for its upgrades its also a cruiser)originally a cruiser in TOS, TMP
maurader
federation explorer classes (cruiser)
miranda
constitution
constellation
intrepid
defiant (escort class) heavy cruiser
Romulans only currently have 3 ships canon none are cruisers
warbird, valdore (both are battleships)
talon (shuttle)
most of the canon dominion ships are battleships and 1 frigate which is so OP it should be a cruiser
Cardassians:
Galor - Destroyer aka heavy frigate
Keldon - Heavy Cruiser
Hideki - frigate
so if we don't do some normalization no one would enjoy the mod. Remember that trek equals constant inconsistant data!
yeah sure i understand u guys, (ican chance it also by myself ect) but the thing is also taht old ships like the d7 d10, constitution ect was a cruiser. but theire so old that their now a big destroyer u know what i mean? but they stay as the description as a cruiser.
and brels are really no cruisers. they re just destroyers...

FYI the Rommies have more then just 3 cannon ships,
your forgetting the Scout and the Science vessel that were used in TNG your also forgetting the Rommie Bird of Prey and Rommie D7(altho that was aquired from the klingons so it would kinda be Pointless)
The cardassions are indeed hard to make cannon, Since the hedeki galor and keldon are all we ever saw
Klingons would be easy, had a load of ships seen by them, D7, Brel, Kvort, Vor'cha, Negvar and the ship from the last episode, the Fek'ler.. altho that still leaves alot of holes at least for Sins

I have suggestions on how to keep role types for ships like the galor class without making everything a cruiser but I'll hold off any input until the next mod is released.
I have to admit, I'm impressed with what I am seeing in the videos. I have a few questions:
1. Will you be willing to make the pre-compiled entity files available for those who wish to "tweak" the balance of the ships for their own use when you releas the mod?
2. Would you release the entity files for SoA2 0.03c so that I have something to do while I wait (Since I can't get into beta)?
3. Will you be changing the phaser file color for the Defiant to the traditional yellow(ish)? Maybe it was the video, but it seemed while. It's a small thing, I know...but there's something about seeing yellow for phaser fire...especially the pulsed phasers that the Defiant has - that would be sweet.
Well, that's all the questions I have so far. Thanks for all the hard work. I hope you can release this soon.

Will the patches for the 0.03f and beyond will be full release or will you release the full mod only or will you include a link that only contains the patch files?

beemer127, the released files have been converted to bin, and you just NEED to use the correct convertdata_originalsins.exe version to convert all the files back to TXT format for tweaking. from what I remember I think that the 1.15 convertdata will convert soa_2_0.03c to txt

one question i have
someone mentioned controlling the ships in large battles during movment would be hard, i figured that preforming fleets would solve this.. however that line of thinking brought me to the idea of Fleet Distance feature for sins..
Being able to select how spread apart your fleet is is kind of useless at least in vanilla sins.. however with your mobility added in.. i wonder how this effect will work.. you guys going to script that feature to have ships move a little more organised depending on what setting you set it to? Thinking like Formations in other games..
To put it in DS9 terms from the show.. haveing frigates escorting cruisers in formation while fighting.. in DS9 for example they had 2 mirandas moveing with the defiants for cover.. wondering if thats plausable
