So, an excellent player and I were doing a 3v3 with Itsmevic on our team. He was quickly beaten up in a 2v1 after only building disciples against a TEC opponent and starting off with two civic labs, quitting the game after about 20 mins. (Somehow, I knew something like that was gonna happen.) Instead, he should have built illuminators and run his cap and his fleet away to the middle of the map where he might have been able to help our team or at least occupy the opponents for a while.
After a long drawn out fight where I and my teammate had excellent game play, clearly demonstrating the ability to roll any two of the other guys on the map, we ended up losing since it was 3v2 against three decent players. I'm blaming this loss on Itsmevic who needs to learn how the Team game is played and what to do when things aren't going well for you early on.
Then give him some advice and stop complaining over new players! Starting between two more experienced players as enemies sucks, you can hardly blame anyone for quitting. It's no fun being rushed!
Itsmevic is far, far from new, and this isn't the first time he's ever done something like that.
I agree that it sucks to get sandwiched, but there are ways of handling that so that you can still help out your team.
Without wanting to get into a huge fight over this - other people have said the same things. There was a post about it but it got locked. One individual I won't name has even created his own banned list with one individual on it (I'm sure you can work out who it is).
Now I'm not having a go at him here - I have played a number of games with him. I'm just saying that a number of people in the past have said the same thing as Centurion...
yes, i've heard some things about this name, but still...
i love how pro players always yell at the noobs for quitting. wonder if they ever remember their first times getting sandwiched back when they started. yelling doesn't help, just scares the nubkins away.
I remember one of the first times something like that happened to me and I ran my cap ship away and helped my three allies bomb the enemy with it, even colonizing and fortifying a planet or two myself. (It was a great game with my team eventually winning.) I had a great time with my lone cap. Thing is, Itsmevic isn't exactly a noob; he's been playing the game for at least more than six months.
Well, OK, the original post didn't say anything about him quitting not for the first time like that. Hm, I guess noobs who refuse to learn are equally annoying as pros who refuse to give advice to and then complain about noobs.
I've actually played only two online games so far and was lucky to have more experienced players on my team. Who also were kind enough to give some advice on which ships to build against which enemy, which planets to take, build order etc.
Actually, I find that newbs/noobs ignore advice far more often then they sit there going "tell me what to do".
Here is a classic example - I had a guy send his lvl 7 egg into a fight without anyback to "rescue me" in a fight I was losing. I could see him coming from 3 grav wells away. He wouldn't turn around no matter what I told him - I guaranteed he would lose it in about 10 seconds. I told him I would quit if it came into the combat grav well (my reasoning being it was the only ship available to colonise and quickly clear the planets of the guy I was in the furball with - my ally could hit his exposed flank). Guess what happened - cap goes boom and I gg (my fleet was making a final stand) and quit as we then had no caps between us, and I was getting pushed back grav well by grav well.
I acknowledge I got beaten - but it surely pisses me off that my ally won't listen and did dumb stuff. Sending a lvl7 cap against a fleet packed with LRM is suicide...
In interest of the game community, I feel we should not point out names of people you feel suck. Just remember their names and don't play with them. The game has a small enough online community and any blacklist is useless because of smurfing so instead of blacklisting these said noobs TEACH THEM TO PLAY BETTER! Everyone improves, everyone wins.
Not true ! In such a small community its really important to build a recognisable name. Many of the pugs now are hosted by skilled players who want skilled players and recognisable players. If the host doesnt recognise you , then one of the others in that game will do so this usually covers even the most obscure of competant players. Normally smurfs are booted because when we PUG we WANT to know who is who for fair picking.
I agree that it must be annoying when some games get ruined by noobs or jerks that do it on purpose. However, yelling at noob, making blacklists and kicking out everyone who doesn't have good stats will hurt the community more than it will help it. It is difficult enough to find games online and if all the new players are scared to join or pissed away, it will only become worse. We need more online players: we should encourage them to come and give them a chance to become good players
I agree with P5yy here, remembering the names of bad teamplayers or those with manner issues definitely helps the online community. I'd rather have 100 players there who know each other and can rely on fairplay than 10.000 players who randomly leave early/midgame or prolong a match or refuse to listen to advice and clearly don't want to improve themselves.
So far I haven't met a single (skilled) player online who flamed the newbies right away. Pretty much everyone gave them (and me, not too long ago) advice and tried to help as best as they could. Including feed and fleet support. So there is no reason at all (from my point of view) for newbies not to try this game online. Of course it helps to play a few dozen matches offline to get the knack of how things work, but the community is far from aggressive towards newcomers.
Just my 2 cents..
Great advice for all to follow. No I'm not new, I've been playing since day one. Early on I suppose I rubbed a few people wrong, who doesn't at one point or another. Since then, everything has died down and I'm just now starting to enjoy the game. I think a lot of people are following this advice and understand now this is just a game and nothing to get your panties in a wad over. I've been in the pocket and I've been in bad locations at the start of a game, we all have. One thing about this game is this, if your dogged the first 10 minutes of a game and your present teammates (you could end up with really anyone) aren't feeding or coming to your aid, some times your only recourse is to quit because there's absolutely nothing more you can offer your team. That's when I call it, when I can no longer assist my team in form be it monetarily or with force I'm a liability if nothing more a quick meat shield unto the next planet held by a team member, but nothing more.
It's always been far easier to blame others than one's self, this goes not only in game play but life to. I'll always admit if I to blame, if I'm not to blame, I don't run to the message boards telling everyone about it. In my eyes it's childish and really does not do the sins community any justice. I'm not new but nor am I a JohnJames either so if your playing a game with me in the future feel free to offer your advice, I'm not proud, I'll listen to you. We need to get past this trival mindset that plagues this forum and game and learn to help each other, after all we are all here to enjoy this game.
At the end of the day ,heres what should be set in stone....
Firstly Surrendering is worse then quitting. So dont even bother touching the surrender button.
Secondly. ,If you are dying or want to quit then CALL IT. Tell everyone you think the game is over. Use Enter and type!
1) CALL IT -> TEAM WINNING their battles -> DONT QUIT
2) CALL IT ->TEAM LOSING their battles -> ALL TEAM QUIT
3) CALL IT -> TEAM STALEMATE in battles -> DISCUSS WITH TEAM -> DISCUSS WITH OPPONENTS -> ALL TEAM QUIT
4) CALL IT -> TEAM ARE NOOBS , OBLIVIOUS and dont even respond to your CALL -> DISCUSS WITH OPPONENTS -> SOLO QUIT
The Entire team should Quit together or within 5 minutes of each other. Final battles are ALLOWED.
If a player Quits ,and his team wants to play on , then the player who quits has broken the rules. However the exception is that if the team is bunch of noobs who do not respond to your call , then you can quit aslong as you discuss with the winning team who will probably have sympathy for you being the only player who actually made units.
In Itsmevic case , he has broken the rules because he hasnt CALLED.
If he CALLS , his team can then tell him that his survival is helping them win their battle which is also 2v1. Trying to survive against the clock is often quite fun in itself.
However , it might be the case that his team are stalemate and eventually he will die , and it will become 2v3 anyway and they will lose. At this point...DISCUSSION is important. Players can REASSESS and RECALL 30 minutes later to see if there is any improvement. In 30 mins time , Itsmevics allies might have killed an opponent and come to his rescue.
So in the end...Itsemivic what you have done wrong is not to discuss or appreciate the fact you HAVE teammates who might be winning. So enough with the bullshit "enjoy the game" speech , If you dont CALL , then your destroying the enjoyment for others.
I'm not going to read all the reply's, but THERE WAS A REASON he was on my blacklist: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/336360
Just saying...
He just left a game again last night...
good grief there's more dialog here than in a presidential debat. I love how there are some that will try and "break it all down" for the rest of us to read and absorb as if they are they authoritive figure in doing what is right or wrong in this game. if the game is lost it's lost, regardless, all this notify this guy, notify that guy is b.s., really it is, you should really listen to the way you sound, it's almost childish. you didn't read my post above obviously or your just the type that just has to have the last word regardless if it makes sense. that's fine, have your little hay day in the snow. but to recap or put it in simplier terms for you, I will only quit if I can no longer offer my team help, that help be it financial wise or other ways...there is absolutely no point in continueing if you can't contribute. Not all my games are like this, in fact I might quit 2 games out of 15 games and only when I can't offer anything else to the table period. Before you go making comments on something you yourself are guilty for perhaps you should do your research because there isn't ONE person in this game that doesn't quit for one reason or another, NOT ONE. Listen, we can go on and on about this, back and forth like two little school kids fighting over a pb & j sandwich, but it's not gonna happen, I've said what I have to say, some will respect others will not, that's just life man. Get a grip dude, just enjoy the game and stop bad mouthing people, it does nothing but destroy the community as a whole.
To r2tincan, refer to post #12 then sub-reference post #16 = you'll have your answer.
Howdidudothat there has already been heavy discussion about your little blacklist, the validity of it's over-all purpose does nothing but tarnish the SINS community as a whole. This is an opinion of ONE boy that has taken it upon himself in the middle of Tom and Jerry Cartoons and Spongebob to spread malice and discontent throughout the SINS community. I really thought this was laid to rest already, if not it should.
ugh...I liked it when you weren't around. It was so much nicer that way. Go back to what you were doing, because, frankly, no one cares what you say.
I would think that you are still able to help your team until you are completely wiped off the map. Even with a homeworld thats getting bombed you can still help by feeding with your HW's credit production. If you left short of being totally obliterated on the map then you can still help. Short of that you should have talked to your team still before heading out. There has been a time when all my worlds have been destroyed but my mothership and I came back to become number 1 economy. If you want to further tarnish your reputation, thats fine. You can always make another name like so many others do.

I played a game with mevic the other day. I went back and watched the replay because he quit and everyone made comments on it - asking about this thread and him quitting
Things I noted
1) He quit as soon as he had lost his cap
2) At one point he had a stronger fleet then the guy he was going against, but didn't follow him to his HW when he retreated and press this advantage. This then allowed his opponent to rebuild his fleet. This lead to point 1.
3) Instead of pursuing, left the roid that was between the 2 HWs (and being contested - both opponents had taken it from the other and colonised it...) with his whole fleet and went to a planet on the otherside of his HW. Opponents fleet came back and chewed up his fleet as it arrived in dribs and drabs and then went for his cap (see 1 again). He made a comment while bringing his fleet back along the lines of "its going to be one of these games where we fight over one planet" or something to that effect (can't remember exactly).
So anyway, he didn't play smart (the planets on the borders are where the fights occur generally), but sometimes we do silly things or make mistakes. Fair enough. Why he didn't leave his fleet of assailants at the roid and only send his egg to colonise I do no know. So he quit instead of staying and falling back to his HW, where he could have increased his fleet and tried to make a stand AND/OR built a SB...
But the point people are making and was reinforced again is that he didn't stay and help his team, so my team were automatically in mop up mode as we knew that once his AI was gone, we had an extra number to use. Then it was just a case of non of our team being swamped until support arrived.... And no gg or any comments to anyone on his team either....
The point I want to make is this: Itsmevic - you and I had some arguments in the past around The Monk. We moved past that. However you continue to write points as per above, but then do things like I describe above. Unfortunately your actions are speaking louder then your words. Without wanting to get into a fight, I would just like to point out that as much as anything here, it is the WAY you quit, not just you quitting that is causing people to get upset with you. If you let people know what is going on, that you think the game is over you won't get these negative reactions. However when someone sees you quit without realising what was going on in your part of the map (as they were intently focused on their part), they get upset. If you let them know you are truely beat and the game is lost and they may as well start a new one, you will get a better result I think. And a gg to your opposition never goes astray as it acknowledges their efforts in beating you and your team...
Fair enough Hack. I respect what you had to say, in fact I appreciated it. Well thought out, tactful yet to the point. If more post's were done in this fashion wouldn't be any bickering, hence this thread. So with that said, I will comment on just one thing you said. I do remember that game, it was a no win situation in my book, I was only able to get a planet or two up and running, not near enough to handle the spam he was spewing out. Perhaps I quite earlier yes but as I've said in other posts, my quit to stay ration is probably 20/80 and that this entire thread because of ONE individual has done nothing but really give new comers/readers a bad taste in their mouth for online multiplayer play. All I'm saying is this, enjoy the game for what it is and if you do not have anything positive to say don't say it. Praise in public, repremand in private has always been my modo.
i think its important for me to say, itsmevic is no other then RubeeIsTheBomb. He is also saurabh, one of the most hated players ever in ICO
I had no idee he was Rubees or Saurabh, not that I've ever paid much attention to Saurabh. What makes you think he's Rubees? For the record, I've never had a problem with Rubees and like playing with him, but I can't say I've played with him in every game or even most of the games he's played in.
i've been told personally by him. He is a 13 year old canadian-indian boy who has honest to god attempted suicide and failed. He really needs serious help
