Greetings all,
Thank you for all the posts of bug feedback and suggestions regarding Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment. Ironclad has been hard at work reading through the posts and working on the next update. Even though you won't see us post very often, we are paying attention, so please be patient with us.
Currently we're planning on an Entrenchment beta update next week - as always we'll be aiming for Wednesday or Thursday. The team needs more time to rework how the mines function in the game so that we get a more balanced system in place.
I'll edit this post with more info as I get it in.
For some reason my post wouldn't show up. The second time I posted they both showed up.
Here's yet another request for better forum software...sigh.
Good to know there will be an update next week. Yeah, mines really need to be fixed. I'd love to see Starbases be able to fire anywhere in the gravity well too. Right now they are pretty useless, especially those that don't move. This would fix that issue. I've been having some desynching in big games. I didn't know about posting it. I'll try to look that up when I can.
Weird. My post isn't showing up. I'll try posting it again.
Yarlen, have the devs increased the range of the starbases? if they don't can they remove the restriction of one per gravity well? and can (if possible) add some type of point defense to stop some incoming missles?
Will be waiting for update next weak!!!!! [e digicons][/e]
Yeah MINES...
As I said in couple of beta feedback posts - just remove them...
Honestly...
Yes, it would be cool to have mines in the game, but this will be near impossible to achieve without breaking or at least compromising on what Sins is all about...
Call me sceptic if you wish or whatever but I vote for complete removal and proper balance of the rest
Get use to it the mines are here to stay So stop trying to get them removed because with out them Entrenchment would not be what it is Entrenchment as in Defenses and mines are defenses no matter which way you look at it
I don't think mines are so much the problem as it is clearing them and keeping your fleet from just wandering into a minefield. As it is now, it takes uber-micro to get it done and your ships might still just make a wide turn into mines, giving you the superfinger as they go. I'm an unashamed turtler, and I recognize that mines are currently broken. They need to pulled permanently into phase by your scouts and the AI of your own fleet needs to treat minefields the way the enemy AI does, as they never seem to have "accidents" whilst clearing mines.
Question: Is there a limit on the number of mines you can make? Because so far, I haven't seen one. They don't seem to affect fleet supply, slots... anything.
If there is no limit now, I'd be really into one showing up. Or at least having some sort of cost for creating them. Having them come for free, at the amount of damage they can do to a fleet...
Don't think there is a limit...I just put them where ships would phase in to limit them...
My suggesstion would be to make mines an option you can toggle just like pirates.
Just too much micromanagement for me, with out adding a lot to the fun.
Not sure if this is going tomake this update or not, but I still notice as the game progresses and the galaxy starts to fill up with other colonies and large fleets the game starts to lurch. Meaning in a battle yu can see the clock cycle pauses between the weapon firings.
I know the first person would say what are you running it on so to answer that question here it is.
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe mobo
Intel Q9550 Proc at 2.83Ghz per core
8GB of OCZ Repaer 1066Mhz RAM
XFX Geforce 9800GX2 with 1GB of DDR3 RAM
running on Windows Vista 64-BIT With SP1
I have also changed it from using both GPU's to running the game on a single GPU and that made no difference.
Thoughts? Concerns? Or am I over re-acting?
thanks
why can't we place an starbase "above" or "below" a planet? it forces us to choose which side of the planet/gravity well gets more protection
logically, if the starbase is at the north pole, the fleet could just as well move to the south pole to attack. what I'm saying is that this is merely the third dimension of the 'build it right, he attacks left, build it front, he attacks from back' 2d layout. that's why I'd say why. makes it more complicated and doesn't give you the 360° range. at least not unless you apply different rules to ships and starbases when it comes to maneuvering, which would kind of suck.
Take out the mines?...No. That would be as pointless as leaving them as is. There would only be one addition to the game from Entrenchment..starbases. hmmm for 10 dollars?... When the mines are fixed they will work as intended. Although, the main mine problem I feel should be addressed is giveing players the ability to place them specifically as computer opponents can do to us. Along with preventing the AI from filling the grav wells so much you can not see anything else, without being restricted in some way. I would suggest adding a research step "strategic demolitions" for placement and perhaps "mine drones" that can plow through the middle of a mine field. Just some suggestions, but overall I like mines. Keep up the good work!
I agree with Valkajin - some nice ideas about mines!!! [e digicons][/e]

The last we heard is that it could be either Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Let's keep our fingers crossed for Thursday...2 days from now.[e digicons][/e]
*crosses TheSpydyr's fingers*
lmao @ Anny [e digicons][/e]
ps - just like your picture. HA!
I hope not *just* like it, that'd be both shocking that you'd look like a stick figure man and sad because butts are a pain in the ass to re-attach. Literally.
lmao even harder now. That's just too much.
And see, I just thought that was some guy standing next to a turd and laughing about it. It makes so much more sense now.
Well, I'm glad.. I'm not crazy enough to have a turd in my avatar!

How about a Turd Sandwich???
