If you are considering buying this game dont.....
you will have nothing but bother trying to get it to work, bother trying to update it , bother getting a reply from the helpdesk, bother trying to configure you router to play online.

I spent £30 on this game and have been ripped off. Trading standards should step in and close this farce down!!!
Sins of a solar empire.... a Sin is right!!!
I smell a nub.
ive been a member on here for a few days not just one. and you my friend are a wanker!
not a good way to treat someone who cares of posting a problem. if he didn't care about this game he would'nt be posting this type of problem his having. why not just be kind to the man or gal and answer or help with the problem. what i would do is that i would uninstall everything. from add to remove file to your c or d drive uninstall.exe file and start from scratch. btw, when it says loading and you decide to quit before it tells you its done loading then you maybe inpatient and mess the whole installation process up. there where a few time when i was about to hit cancel button while it was loading and decided to wait for a few second or minutes more then 'kaplow' it finish loading the game.
p.s. after you install the whole game before joining the game, restart your computer fresh then join the game see if that wroks.
Hi J M C
Ive now read this thread twice and I still cant figure out exactly what you find broken and/or bad with the game.
C'mon, help us help you
wth?
didnt anyone but Crowsbane and xeno0ne bother to help him or something?
installing this IS a pain,
impulse IS a pain
updating IS a pain
online system DOESNT work, Alloy barely works, only when youre having NAT problems does it have any use "even tough it cuases Desync's, you still need a router configured with port 6112 to the correct IP adress
S_o_L knows, had to configure all myself, thank god Monk helped out.."with teamspeak!!!
"technical support yeah right like that works anywhere all u get as answer is"were sorry ure pc sucks "end quote" " change stuff there, move this there, pirate that thingy from there to there, WORKS
instead of flaming him bother reading his post, and understanding it. you guys just see someone who is dissatisfied and immediatly start flaming becuase he doesnt liek something u like "freaking human behaviour" he has a problem with the game why else would he be posting here?
shuldnt try going for helpdesk for obvious reasons only a few games have actual support, most just give a standard reply, wich looks like it's bot generated and says something like "were sorry ure pc sucks", you might go back to the shop explaining them your problem, they might not take the game back, but they'll surely be able to help you out somehow
well he'll be rly happy with you being sorry, but offering him help might help him alot more, "not everyone knows how forums work, i used to think forums were only meant for posting dumb topics.. like pointless arguements"
You sir, are a too. Hurry!!! They are gathering numbers!!!!! Fetch a witcher!!!! Fetch a !!!!! Fetch the !!!! Fetch a !!!!! Anything!!!!!!! AH!!!!!!!
Soon we will all be unless the are controlled and/or utterly annihilated by an army of ?
My computer is fine... dual Xeon quad core, 16 gb ram, GeForce 8800 Ultra 768 mb ... in reality, sins is not fine for my comp... being 32 bits application, only 4 gb for application on win x64 system, use mainly only one core, etc...
But these are not Stardock problem, they are my problem and i have resolve it myself... linux allow me to use all my ram for the game and with VMware, i emulate a big processor of 10 ghz for sins, VMware shared itself the charge between my 8 core at 2.66 ghz...
To my knowledge, only one problem remain in sins 1.12 ( Entrenchment don't count, it is a beta ! )... it is related to the memory leak... the linux wine patch have simply move the problem where it was in the original game, leaking in the main memory... i have a work around who flush the leak at regular time ( result of 1 second black screen during the flushing )... but the leak remain... and not sure that it will be resolved... it is in the kerm engine and a full rewrite of the core is not a viable option... sure that this will be resolved in case of a sins 2...
Other problem are not bug... but more something related to the gameplay, having the game become more easy by changing abilities, adding more possibility for modder, etc ...
Major sync problem have appear end december... in some case, the server was down... hmmm, Sins being in the top 10 of several game rate for 2008 have certainly lead to a lot of Sins Christmas gift... holiday periode with a lot of child home trying to game... beta testing of entrenchment... this can explain the sync or server problem... to much people in the same time... it is possible that the game is victim of his own success...
Customer are never 100% happy but Stardock work enough good for try to make their customer happy... they are not perfect but nobody is perfect... and a lot of compagny are more bad that them...
Between what the community can help with and official support, problems can be resolved. It does take some effort on the users part to assist in the process though.
Get off your high horse Shadow - you just rock up in any thread and bad mouth Impulse. We get it.
YOU DON'T LIKE IT.
Build a bridge and move on.
I'm more interested in finding out what issues the OP had and what has been done to try and address them...
So basically Shadow did not know how to configure his router, so therefore it's stardocks fault. Seriously people need to learn computer basics with abit of networking. We are after all in the 21st century...
As for the original poster, you need to provide more information to your problem if you expect any kind of assistance.
with replies like those of -Ue_Carbon and Hack78 we wont get any further in helping anyone
i know Stardock's technical support rly does help.... think i shuldve added that in my previous post.... however most companies rly do send replies like that
btw Nikkel, if u read my entire post you wouldve known that i DID get it to work, if you're that interested, i had some trouble with NAT, Monk helped me there... also UPNP was bitching, it just didnt wanna go off...., after that it worked like a charm "until 1.1 with allot had to reconfigure 6112's IP for some reason
yeah, ure post makes sense on 3 points only #1 being it's stardocks problem, for they shouldve had a system that worked without the need of a NAT specialist "thx again Monk " "Warcraft 3 works without major problems, so whats the problem here? "
#2 being that Jupiter-Mining-Corps shuld state his problems more specifically and #3 being that we live in the 21st century...
ok guys.
problems all solved... turns out the prob was with the key code, every thing works now.... so thank you all for your comments, good and bad lol and im sorry if I offended anyone...
....Game on
*pops a bottle of champaigne and pours it on top of Jupier-Mining-Corps* lets go and PARTY W0000000T!
Did you just call for a Ninja army? If you need one We are here. It would be a great honor to help you. (Wow, someone helping Annatar. Isn't that backwards! )
I am glad that you got your problem fixed. Now you can enjoy SINS!
Samurye.
EVE is like WoW in space. Grind and boring.
I havent had even one problem with the game, online connections, or anything. FWIW
In fact, I'd say that this game is amazingly solid.
Agreed, have zero problems with the game, or Impulse whatsoever. I do have other questions/issues, but will address those in other threads. I have always loved RTS games, AOE in particular. Sins has supplanted it as my favorite.
(Does a little dance) Na nana na nana. He he
I really wish people would really try to get help before posting hateful "I Hate this Game!" posts.
