Galactic Civilizations II v2.0 is a major free update to Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar and Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor.
Galactic Civilizations is a turn-based space strategy game set in the 23rd century. In it, humans have begun colonizing the galaxy and have encountered several alien civilizations, some friendly, some hostile. Players must guide humanity by building fleets of ships, researching new technologies, negotiate treaties, fight wars, and much more. It is a game of epic scope and depth. Each game is different since the galaxy is randomly generated, the computer AI in the game behaves differently and the game has an immense number of setup options to give players a great deal of variance.
To get an idea of what a game is like, read the PC Gamer Diary which gives a detailed account of one such game.
Galactic Civilizations II encompasses 3 chapters:
Most of the new features in v2.0 are for users who have Twilight of the Arnor but a few biggies are for Dark Avatar as well.
If you don't have Galactic Civilizations II, you can get the full saga here: https://www.galciv2.com/Purchase.aspx
Loading up the internal beta of 2.0 brings up an updated intro screen:
Players can now design their own star ships right from the main game screen.
Selecting Ship Designer:
Going back to the main screen I decide to start a game.
OMG! THANK YOU! (MASSIVE HEART ATTACK)...(dies.)
Is there a date?
Sooth moves Stardock, looking forward to the main course.
Sigh ... read "Smooth"... smb edit button
We are all looking forward to these fancy new options, but I have two simple questions about 2.0:
1. Will Drengin and Korath colonize normally, like other races?
2. Will Altarians and Terrans build normal fleets?
Thanks.
I wonder if the auto-shipdesigner bug will finally be fixed? This is the bug where the auto designer placed more components that the hull allows.
Must have better UP and Diplomacy...
OK the changes are good so far. But i still want better diplomacy. I honestly don't bother with non-military games currently.. Too easy and/or simple.
Don't quote me on this, but I think one of the recent dev journals says beta on the 25th, and release on October 7th or so?
I am curious if 2.0 will fix the MCC issue that still resides in DL and DA. I know it was fixed in TA.
Isn't having tech brokering turned on kind of like putting DRM on your technology? And from Stardock, no less....
Hope they fix the STRING NOT FOUND error in TOA
Hey Roadkill...been a while. Yes, I think the MCC fix will finally be in for DL and DA.
Sentient species taste better...
I love you stardock...I really do. The only problem with updates like this is now I can't play GC2 until 2.0 is released or else it just feels incomplete. But with all the awesome stuff in store, I think I can handle the wait.
Yep, I'm back. And I have a few new games posted to Metaverse. I'm sampling some of the other races I have not tried yet. I might not post much but I have been watching the Kizinti forum for a while now.
Its to allow a player to sell the techs to only there allies and not see there enimies show up with the tech.
he he.. yes it is, or more along the lines of .. a fleet of ships has no match to a decent lawyer in galactic court?
I remember a statement about the metaverse getting attention in 2.0 too...
What is with that?
Liking the not needing to play to design a ship.
Very minor thing I'd like to see is an option to toggle off the tabs when your looking at a ship in the intelligence screen.
A good option would be to make all equipment which is placed on ships invisible if the player chooses to do so. If you are playing a mod, and say, you have a Galaxy class Federation ship, it is pretty much ruined with all attachments of weapons and engines which are placed on it.
Tech brokering, external ship designer... fantastic news!
RANDOM EVENT SLIDERS
I can't tell you how many times I've been hit by a random event that pissed me off to no end. Pirates are one of the worst. Influence increase can suck. And of course there's the good old "The war has expanded."
Great improvements
I look forward to it. => I'm a happy TBS fan.
Waaaa that these changes won't be on DA.
Thiks one isn't a mega event. It can still happen with mega's turned off. Its just a random event thats not all that random. I believe it get triggered when you attack too many minors. It happens againsy that AI sometimes too.
Do we have to wait long till next part?
