This mod adds custom races to the game based on races from the various Stargate television series. At present it includes the Ancients, Wraith, Asgard, Goa'uld and the Ori.
Ancients:
A race that uses larger, more powerful ships to compose the basis of their fleet. You will have a fraction of the number of ships in your fleet but many of them are more comparable in power to a capital ship for other races than to a frigate. Ancient capital ships are immensely powerful and include the fabled Atlantis city ship. They are also able to build Space Gates that allow near instant travel between planets, allowing them to easily shift their fleet resources as needed.
Wraith:
A race whose ships do not have shields but who compensate with increased hull points, armor and regeneration rates. They have a wide selection of cruisers of varying power but only one type of capital ship, Hives, which are the heart of their fleet.
Asgard:
A race whose ships focus on shields and mobility. Asgard vessels and structures have low hull point scores but all have shield points. While they may not have dramatically more shield points than other races, their shields are superior in mitigation factors and mitigation build-up, with multiple research entries for improvements. The Asgard fleet employs no strikecraft but makes up for the lack thereof with superior anti-fighter weaponry on various ships and structures and a notable advantage in mobility. Sublight and hyperspace engines are highly advanced and provide superior mobility in both local gravity wells as well as interplanetary & interstellar travel and the Asgard empire tree provides numerours upgrades which provide further mobility advantages.
Goa'uld
A parasitic race who pose as gods to their subjects. A powerful economy and formiddable diplomatic and cultural tools combine to make them a force to be reckoned with. They may only have a handful of frigates and cruisers but most serve several functions. Powerful capital ships anchor their fleet and complete their tools for conquest.
Ori
An offshoot of the Ancient race founded on fanatical belief in ascended beings who call themselves the Ori. Governed by the Priors, living beings empowered by the Ori to impose their will, the followers of Origin are empowered by the the vast knowledge of the universe that their ascended overlords possess. The Ori fleet is composed of a full compliment of ships varying in size but all very powerful. Even the smallest frigates are protected by powerful shields and the massive capital ships are capable of engaging entire enemy fleets by themselves as they spread Origin across the universe or destroy all those who refuse to submit to the will of the Ori.

Uploading the merged Sins Plus version of the mod now. It's going to take a couple hours so I'll post again and update the thread when it's done.
I've also fixed the Asgard research cost bug in the merged version so no changes as discussed above will be necessary.
Question: I may have missed it earlier, though I recall the initial discussion, was the issue, if there was one, with the Wraith research hull research not working fixed/corrected/explained how to correct?
And.....Dolynick, so you know, you are frakking awesome.
Also....Are you including any new models that you may or may not have received for like the Aurora and Atlantis in this merge?
I have not run into any issues with the Wraith hull research entries. They seemed to work fine the last time I played a game with the Wraith. I took a look at them before I packed up the merged version and there doesn't look like anything is incorrect.
There will not be any new models in the merged release. Dewing has got a good start going but there are still some issues with a few of the models I've received so far that need to be touched before they'd be ready for prime time. The build version of the mod has an only partially done version of the Goa'uld currently as well and they are far from playable yet.
Thread updated with merged Sins Plus release. The download link is in the OP.
Thank you!!!
umm yea thx for compleatly ignoring my reply...
Reaper,
Your game freezing when you try to load the mod is a pretty good sign that you haven't extracted it properly, that something is missing or that something isn't in the right place. I have no way of knowing which is the case for you.
Hey dolynick, great jobs once again. I noticed u have the sins plus loaded sweet, although ive already merge your mod with uzzi's a while ago [e digicons][/e] . Um I have one thing to specify now, I don't know if u ever played a full game with your mod or not but, ive had constant minidump about 45min sometime 2 hours and, if I get lucky 3 hour in too the game. Now I know its not becuz I merge your mod with uzzi becuz i loaded a seperate one of your mods and the same thing happen. So if u could help me out here cuz I can never finish a game with your mod lol. But im going too see if this new one u posted, has this problem or not and, ill get back to u with any positive or negative feed back.
Akkan117.
Akkan,
I have run into a bug like that as well in my private games. It seems quite random though and I have not been able to track down anything that might cause it. Some games it happens and some it does not. Then in some games I just reload and it doesn't crash the 2nd time around. Dev mode seems useless in determining what the bug might be as it doesn't report anything prior to that type of crash as it normally would. I've been searching for a possible cause for some time now and it's quite frustrating because I can't find one. If you come up with something to narrow it down please let me know.
I had actually started to think that it might just be my installation or something in my private version of the mod (I use a slightly tweaked version usually). You are the first to report the same issue here.
I've had that happen once...since I've only had the chance to play that long so far, once. As far as I could tell, without trying to repeat it so far, is that I had a decent sized fleet and was telling a bunch to go one direction and some another, and the game spazzed and mini-dumped.
But, that doesn't mean much, being only one time. Heh.
Freeze when enable... seem to be a version conflict to me... it happen to a lot of people... Reaper, what is your sins version ? Start the game without mod, after the intro, on the first menu screen, take a look at the lower right corner... What do you see there ? If it is v1.10, v1.11, or v1.12, the problem is elsewhere... if you have v1.00, v1.01, v1.02, v1.03, v1.04 or v1.05, upgrade sins ... if you have v0.9xx, you are running the Entrenchment beta, remove it...
I have report something similar... remember the problem in the research tree from the Asgard... i use a tuned map who give me million of credit, metal, crystal for game... it allow to test me it in a fast way... I have play a full game with each race on a huge multistar map... only one who give problem is the Asgard... and sure that it is related to the research tree... when making no research, i can finish the game... making all research, soon of later, it dump... sure that for AI, situation will be identical, specially without cheating and given the time to the AI for research...
I will seek why later... now, i am busy with a new model for the EvilTesla pirate mod... and i have not a lot of time for game... but soon of later, i will find the problem and i hope, the solution...
I'm not convinced it is a research entry. I use dev mode extensively when I'm working on the mod and usually give myself all research for testing ships and structures. It has never crashed on my in dev mode when I gain all researches.
can the wraith get the ZPM-fed super-hiveships?
I haven't decided on that yet. First off, there isn't a good way to do it in Sins as there is no way to ensure that the Wraith have captured anything necessary to access it (which is how it should work). Secondly, I have a few issues with that ship/episode just in terms of story/universe continuity.
Honestly, I was dissapointed with this mod. I was expecting new models and textures, but no, what I get is way overpriced and underpowered original vessels with different names...
Maybe if you made new ship designs, a new tech tree, and new textures and effects, this mod would be worth the download. I'll give you this though. You do have a strong backstory and a great idea behind this. This just needs a lot more time and work for it to be called a sucessfull mod.
Overall Grade: F+
Nice. There is no reason for you to be assinine when someone donates their time to make something and offers it to you completely free. If had read the thread you'd have known that there were no new models in this mod in the first place and saved yourself the "dissapointment".
The game play of these mod is great... ok, i have test it on huge multistar map... with these map, after some time, you have a huge amount of money/crystal/metal ... can maybe seem overpriced on a small map with few resource...
About underpowered, i think that you have not game long enough... i have meet the "atlantis" city and a big part of my fleet was destroy... if the original races from sins was in the game, they will be destroy in a very short time...
Maybe if you made new ship designs, a new tech tree, and new textures and effects, this mod would be worth the download.
They are working on it... the last few day, i was in contact with their modeler... they have already ship but they was too much poly heavy for the game... give them the time and you will have something great... main part of the code is ready, it is only a problem of modeler and texturer... If you are so easy to critic, maybe you can give a hand and help them...
These mod is a rough diamont, give them the time to polish it...
OK, This post really irked me. I mean honestly, you have no right to come barging in and saying that you expected new models and textures, when in the main post it clearly states that he re-used models from the game. the fact that you call it an unsucessful mod is utter crap. I challenge you to come up with new tech trees for new races, balance them out, and make sure that everything is playable, to the best of your abilities for everyone out there. Ive held back in this post, as a courtesy to Dolynick, but next time... chose your battles carefuly, just a suggestion.
I never meant for this to be a flametrain or a battle. This is just a review or a critique. I mean honestly you can't simply just expect everyone to be adamantly happy with this mod. Thats just plain ignorance. I was telling DolyNick all the improvements he can make. He dosen't have to do that, just as I don't have to like his mod.
Not everyone has enough time to spend 14 hours a day playing Sins locked up in their mother's basement.
I said that in my post. I agree that this mod needs A LOT more time, but this isn't even a diamond, its still coal trying to develop into a diamond. Is this Raw fish? No, Sushi is edible, this isnt.
Rheinguard, the problem is the fact you are saying "this mod sucks, where are my new shinies" when Dolynick has stated repeatedly that he can't model, and would rather code the races than model them, since coding them and re-using models gets them out the door faster. Personally, I don't mind the lack of new models, since new ones are hard and time-consuming, and dolynick is only ONE MAN.
And as to no new effects, obviously you haven't zoomed in on the Atlantian drones. Really nice effects there, a lot like the SGA drone effects.
Most importantly however is the fact the races are very unique and different. They are all unique and play very differently from each other and the standard races, and I would rather have variety in my game play than variety in my graphics.
I have to agree with everyone...This game CAN'T be a bad game....Everything that has been "critiqued" are things that have been blatantly, BLATANTLY been discussed either in the forum thread, or within the main topic... It's not like Dolynick left it to you to find out that the models were re-used. And besides, why would you download a mod without reading about it, seeing if its at least compatible?
Not to belabor the point....but Dolynick is one person. All the codework has been done or finishing up on...which is much more important than a fricking new model. Vanilla Sins is pretty much uniform all the way around. Boring.
If you want pretty models--Which we'll have in time--with shitty coding and game play, go somewhere else. If you want great gameplay that is truly flexible to different game playing styles--Which, I know I do--stay here.
Otherwise, think about how you phrase something and put it out into the world. Especially when there is going to be a bunch of people going "Wow....how stupid can you get?"
My question is, with this assanine statement:
"Honestly, I was dissapointed with this mod. I was expecting new models and textures, but no, what I get is way overpriced and underpowered original vessels with different names..."
How can you NOT expect someone to take offense?
I'd like to thank everyone who has responded to Rheinguard in support of the mod. It is really appreciated.
Rheinguard,
I almost wonder if you have even played this mod. You are correct that there are no new models in this mod for the majority of the new ships, I made that clear in the original post. There are, however, three unique races with some balancing efforts done (I'm not going to claim the balance is perfect but I've spent a lot of time tweaking it). Each race has it's own, unique tech tree - contrary to what you seem to claim. There are also numerous customized particle effects for weapons and abilities for all three races. The Asgard in particular, as every weapon they fire has it's own custom effect and many of their special abilities are custom as well.
If you don't care for the mod and don't want to play it that is fine by me. I'm not forcing anyone to download and use it. What is really annoying is your arrogance in coming in here and bashing all the efforts made so far, including going so far as "grading" it as a failure. That is just rude. It's not like you paid to play the mod, it's freely made available. What modding have you done and released out there gives you the right to judge so critically what someone else has done and offered to you to use in the spirit of community? If that is the way you wish to behave then I ask that you don't play the mod and refrain from posting in this thread as I am not interested in dealing with someone so selfish and backwards as you appear to be.
Regards,
Boy, where is my mother now, there is no basement... unless you think that hell is the basement of the paradise !!!
I am not a kid... i am a full time working guy... main of my free time is used for make 3d model for several mod... i have very little time for game... being a modeler myself, i know how much time can be invest in it... for a good quality model with texture, you can count around 100-150 hours of work... a guy alone, for 3 new race with all ship and structure will be busy for 1 year at least...
Now, it is not the first time that you post and make comment because you are too lazy to read the top post and other comment... let show a example... since i am member of the 7DS team, i will use these mod for example... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/306277/page/105/ ... the top post say "for sins 1.05", the two post before your say "for 1.05" in BIG RED letter... and you wrote : "Hello Its not working I get the mini-dump error. I have Sins 1.11... Is it a compatabilaty issue?" ... same thing here in these topic... i begin to think that it is you who have a issue !!!
About huge multistar map and you saying that not everyone has enough time to spend 14 hours a day playing Sins... let me introduce a wonderful thing in sins ( it seem that you don't know it )... in your menu, you have a "SAVE" option... and wonder, for the day after, you can use a other wonderful command called "LOAD" a savegame... of course, these SAVE and LOAD are explain in the game manual but sure that you have never read it...
Hmmm... maybe i am too much hard with you... for the 7DS mod example, there is maybe a other reason... Are you color blind ?
One more thing... in the 7DS mod topic, you wrote :"Danman hurry with that v1.1+ compatible release, I can't wait!"... i advice you to wait and if you cannot, don't make a similar post like these here... you will be eaten alive... better for you to not download these top mod since several race use stock ship from the vanilla sins game... by example, "the Dark" use Vasari ship... but the coding is different ( like in these mod )... as today, i have make only 6 new ship ( can be see there ) for them but the texturer is working on them... will not be in the 2.0 or 2.5...
Majority of mod are "work in progress"... if you are not happy with it, stay with the Vanilla game... maybe you can buy the beta Entrenchment... they have new models there ( but the actual code make it almost impossible to game ! )...
Hmmm, they need to create a "Ignore" button on these forum...
