Oh my dear gawd!!!

I had to buy my eldest kid new shoes today.

She's been wearing my shoes for about a year now...I've banned her form wearing heels and pointy toes not only because I don't want her to get bunions, but it'll make her taller than me too.

I wear a size 7, sometimes a 7 1/2. I had a couple of pairs of size 8's that she's been wearing, so I thought that's what size she'd need when we got her new shoes.

Wrong.

She's in an 8 1/2, and there were a couple of styles in which she felt more comfortable in a size 9.

A NINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? She's only 12!!!!!!!!!!!

If her feet at this size now, what the hell kind of boats is she going to have by the time she's done growing!!!!???????

I expected her to be taller than me, and I expected her to have bigger feet than me, but...I had really thought that she'd be at least in her mid-teens before that happened.

Well, at least my shoes are safe.....her feet are too big for them anymore!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

my now 16yr old daugther was taller than me when she was 9, she was 5'5" size 9 shoe, now she is 5'9" size 91/2 shoe I am 5 2 and half inches tall and 8 shoe. She has always hated her feet cuz they don't make that many pretty shoes in big sizes but she loves her height. I todl her she would look silly at 5 9 with size 6 feet..HA

Shea's proud of being taller than me and having bigger feet than me. She says it's a sign of good nutrition!

The only thing that she has any self-esteem problems with is her skin. She's starting to get a few pimples here and there, and she's a little self concious. We got her some Proactive in an effort to not only treat the little ones she has now but to stave off any more she might have coming. Both her dad and I had acne when we were kids - our parents either weren't financially able to have it treated or thought it vanity and that it would pass. I know I got teased about my skin - I had bangs down to the end of my nose to try and cover them up and was incredibly shy and self concious - and D is still sensitive about his scars. We both swore that we weren't going to let our kids go though that, so as soon as we noticed that Shea's skin was bothering her we asked her if she wanted us to help her do something about it.

She says her next goal is to be taller than me...as and she's only got 2 inches to go I don't think it's going to be long until he achieves it!

I had size 8 1/2 shoes and was 5' 4" when I was 12......I still have size 8 1/2 shoes and am still 5' 4". So, you just never know. Every kid grows differently.

so the difference in your shoe size and your daughters is pretty much the same as between me and my daughter. i'm still wowed when i try on her shoes and see my feet swimming in them. don't you somehow find this to be really bizarre too dharmagrl?
