As overlords struggle to find their niche in the new Metaverse, dramatic developments continue to occur. With the release of the Expansion Pack, the number of Masochistic players has risen to new heights, with some estimates showing a 300% increase in Maso players! Scoring has gotten so high that within the next few days (if not before), the Top 25 will consist entirely of 100,000 Metapoint overlords. There are already two 200,000 point players, with more coming. Empires are regularly hitting the magic 1 million point mark, and two are now threatening the 2 million point mark. The scoring frenzy that blankets the Metaverse has some overlords concerned about loss of interest as many players watch Maso players distance themselves from the rest of the field. It certainly has some empires at a disadvantage. Though there are many in the Metaverse who urge players to play their own comfort level and play for enjoyment, it's clear the scoring advantage has attracted many overlords who normally wouldn't play Maso difficulty. It is the hope of the Metaverse Review that this trend does not lead to disenchantment and ultimately to players leaving the Metaverse.

In empire news, the Fellowship of the Ring empire and the pirates of G.R.O.S.S. have entered a new phase in the Metaverse competition, as they both strive to be the first to the two million point mark. Though the Fellowship's lead is almost 100,000 points, G.R.O.S.S. still has a very good chance to overtake the leaders, as they did at the 1 million point mark. The adventurers of the Fellowship must be vigilant in order to ensure that history does not repeat itself!

The European Alliance is growing ever closer to the ANZAC Republic. This war, which the ANZACs gained the upper hand in only recently, is still a heavily contested race. The Euros gained their 100th recruit today and figure to challenge the ANZACs very soon for fourth place. The beseiged Emperor of the Euros, Impune, has agreed to turn over his crown to G-Force and the only thing to happen now is the official corronation.

The Canadian Star Federation is nearing the 1 million point mark as they stand tall in sixth place overall. The Canadians only need around 34,000 more points to surpass the million point level, which could happen as early as today. The Canadians are also feeling the heat of the Jedi Republic on their backs, as the Jedi are only 95,000 points back. The Jedi's recruitment and dedication are proving to be the difference it seems.

Evil Empire and Gamma Squad are slugging it out, as the Evil ones are only about 37,000 points behind. Gamma Squad is also quickly approaching Apolyton for eigth place. There are so many close battles in the Metaverse now, that it's anybody's guess as to who will take the upper hand each day!

Congratulations to Cotal for now being within striking range of the ultimate overlord, Ray the Wanderer. If Cotal were to overtake Ray, it would certainly be an outstanding achievement!
