Hi everyone, I’m completely new to WinCustomize and just discovered how amazing custom skins and themes can make Windows feel fresh. I’ve mostly used the default Windows look until now, but after seeing some of the screenshots here I’d love to start experimenting.
I’m especially interested in clean, minimalistic designs and maybe some subtle dark themes. For a beginner, which tools or sections of the site would you recommend I check out first? Is WindowBlinds still the go-to for full system themes, or are there other apps I should know about?
Also, any tips for keeping things stable and avoiding issues with Windows updates would be super appreciated.
Thanks in advance! I’m excited to join the community and learn from all of you. grade calculator
Welcome to the Wincustomize and Stardock Community!
First, make sure to download SkinStudio11 from your available software here:
https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
In the Object Desktop tab, click on Product Downloads and you should get a list of software.
Then, take the Diamond skin that comes with WindowBlinds11 and see how a skin is made up. You can also download a skin, rename .wba to .zip and double click on it to simply see all the files ans images, etc.
Make friends with a good teacher like basj or Lightstar - there are many great folks here who can help guide you.
You can also post questions in the appropriate forum/subforum.
In any case, welcome to you justindev!
Would also recommend the Wincustomize.com Windowblinds skin gallery here: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds.
And, if you decide to learn on how design your own. Try this guide: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1326186552/How+do+I+make+skins+for+WindowBlinds%3F There is a link to a great tutorial in there.
