For some time now I have noticed that Start11 is not sizing Steam icons correctly on my Win11 gaming PC and seems to depend on screen size and scaling. I use the Windows 10 style.
I normally connect to my 4k TV, and have the resolution set to 3840 x 2160 and scaling at 225%
When I add any Steam game to my the Start11 menu this is how it shows, they are far too small and nothing I do in the Start11 settings fixes them:
However, a while back I needed to connect the PC to a 1440p screen, which set the resolution to 2560 x 1440, scaling to 125% and they displayed correctly:
Much better. I tried different scaling at full 4k but nothing worked, but I do recall that when first adding a new Steam game to the menu that it can sometimes appear correctly for a single session, but the next time I log it they too become tiny. I've also tried deleting then re-adding the icons without affect.
Any idea if I can fix this?
Start11 v2.53, Windows 11 Pro build 10.0.26100
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. From what I know sometimes those apps do not come with large icons. So Start11 will only use what ever size available for it. Perhaps, you can try to download a better size image on the internet and assign it to those icons as custom image.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Hi, but the icons are fine when I switch resolution and they change by a large amount compared to the change of resolution, plus this is all my Steam games, I just don't have many installed at the moment. I also just remembered, that I have the preview of the Xbox application that can add Steam games to its library, and those icons are fine.
Looking at your second screenshot, the icons itself still on low resolution just stretch out.
I tried but I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Moving from 100% to 225% scale on my 4K monitor, I see some odd icons sizes, but only on my taskbar. But once I restart Explorer.exe it resize itself to proper size. But no issue I observe on my Start panel. Perhaps need to know your setting for these.
On each individual tile resize icon to which size?
Thank you,

Where an application has a low res icon as the biggest size available, the OS places this inside a box. How this is handled depends on the scaling factor in use as well as the destination size.
We have made changes to the next Start11 update to handle some cases where this happens, but it is not something we are always aware of and small icons look terrible blown up (which is why Microsoft does that) On my setup I notice that the original doom and quake for example have very very small icons but all the Stardock games have large icons as they have suitable icon resources.
I tried the advanced option and set it to large, and all it changed were all the other icons which were suddenly comically large. Then when I changed it back to medium I noticed some non-Steam icons staying small:
Both of those probably lack larger icons too.
Some further changes have been made which should specifically help with the steam apps and blowing up the low resolution icons in the next Start11 update.
Hello,
A Beta version for the software has now been released, which addresses the issue. We encourage you to give it a try and let us know what you think.

So I have tried the 2.55 beta and it has improved things as the Steam icons are now bigger, but it did highlight that in fact two of the game icons, Blue Prince and Clair Obscur are actually Xbox game app icons, and they have both remained the same smaller size.
I also noticed that the option to Stretch Image is not available to me, and stays greyed out.
