Currently, Animated Dreams that I save/download is saving to my Microsoft OneDrive. I want to change this to save to a location on my hard drive, because my OneDrive account is full. I don't see the option to change the save location in DeskScapes 11 settings. Please help.
Thanks
The default location for Static Dreams is "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Stardock\DownloadedDreams"
The default location for Animated Dreams is "C:\Users\username\Documents\Stardock\Dreams"
You can try unchecking the folder for Animated Dreams in the DeskScapes settings and then move all the Animated Dreams to a new folder and add that folder in the Settings.
I'm not sure if this will work, but it's worth a try.
You will probably have to select the folder in the Added folder list for those Dreams to display.
Thank you. I added the folder for Animated Dreams, but nothing is saving to it. I don't know how to force an animated background to save to that folder.
I was afraid of that. There may be a registry setting that controls the location of this folder. I looked, but didn't find one. Worst case, you would have to move them over as you download them from within DeskScapes, or download them directly from WinCustomize and direct the download to your new folder location.
Maybe Basj will have better information or refer this to the Stardock support team.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I am not using OneDrive, so I am not sure, But, have you tried disable Onedrive from backing up those specific folders mentioned by pelaird above?
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Click the OneDrive icon in the System Tray, and then click the setting gear icon and choose Settings. Click Advanced settings and the Exclude button in Excluded file extensions. Now add the Dream extension and click the Exclude button.
Try this and see if it works. You will probably have to delete all the Dream files that currently exist on your OneDrive as this process will leave them there. Any new Dreams should not get uploaded to OneDrive.
Thanks Pelaird & Basj - I've turned off OneDrive for pretty much all backup now. I also know where DeskScapes is saving animated and static backgrounds now (using Everything search program). This solves the issue for me, since they are being stored on my local drive, which is backed up on a regular basis.
It would be nice to be able to have control over where DeskScapes saves things. Perhaps in the future?
Hello,I have forwarded your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. We really do appreciate your feedback, Thanks
