Hi, I have been using WindowBlinds for several years mostly with no issues. But for some reason today I came home and found it no longer working out of nowhere. I can run the program and apply skins as per usual but now no matter which skin I apply once applied I can no longer open any Windows Explorer windows. As soon as I turn off WindowBlinds and apply the default Windows theme it starts working again. I have no idea why this has started. Anyone else having this issue? Its so odd. I looked at my Windows update history for the past couple days and uninstalled the couple updates to see if this would restore WindowBlinds to a working state again with no luck. I have no idea what caused this issue.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. You should be able to get the latest version from your account product page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Please try, uninstall Windowblinds, reboot immediately (important). Install WB latest beta, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Uninstalled as directed. Downloaded the newest (beta) version and installed. Restarted and applied my WindowBlinds settings and seems to be working again!

May I know what is your Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. I am getting similar issue reported by others on other threads, I wonder if you're also on the same version as them.

Question: After my computer applied the KB5050094 Update - I could no longer open any folders on my desktop - access "My Computer" or open any shortcuts to my drives. However - direct shortcuts to program (eg:Norton 360) would work fine.
Is this similar to what was happening with you?
All I could figure out to do was to remove the Windows Update and reboot - then everything worked again.
Please let me know if we are/were having the same issue.

You just need to install the WB 11.04 beta update.
Yep same issue for me. I just installed the newest beta version and it fixed it for me-
It is now a release version so anyone on 11.02 should get update prompts in the next week.

How I get the beta version of Windows Blinds? I am on the same version of Windows 11 Pro having the same problem with Windows Explorer. I have Object Desktop pack. I am running version 11.02.
Windows 11.04 no longer in beta, its already on official released. Please click on "Check for update" on your WB11.02 to get to the latest 11.04 or go to your Account product page here: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
I'm sorry for not replying in the forum but i simply can't cuz of a limit for new accounts.
I've did the exact steps in the purge and reinstall article. (Purge, restart, download new installer, install, activate, restart, tried again, still broken.)
I don't know if it has something to do with this but i am using windows insider builds currently (Awaiting removal from the programm)
Note: my screens flicker during a theme activation as if the explorer crashes during the loading of a theme.

Do know that Stardock does not support its product on Windows insider/Beta build. Please revert back to official Windows 11 release version. Do report back if the issue still there when you on Windows 11 current official released version.
I was having the same problem for over a month. I uninstalled 11.02 completely and installed 11.04 and the problem was resolved until another recent update to Windows, and it started behaving the same way again. I couldn't navigate in Windows explorer or open File dialogs.
I also tried running the purge and reinstalling 11.04 and it did not resolve the issue.
Respectfully, Basj, asking us to revert to Windows 11 current release is asking us to reinstall our operating systems just to run Windowblinds. That's not going to happen.
Based on another post, I was able to uninstall the last Windows Update (KB5052090) and it's working again.
It's understandable that you don't officially support these builds, but we know that you will need to fix it eventually since this issue likely go on into officially released builds.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe, Dev team already know about it, and we know sometimes MS change again for its release version. Hopefully a version of WB that compatible with it will be available at that time.
Looks like this problem is back with the most recent Windows update, system file dialogs fail to appear, making it impossible to open or save files. If the app uses a custom file dialog you're OK, but anything that uses the system file dialog doesn't work any more.
What's worse, you can't add the app to the WindowBlinds exclusion list because that also uses the system file dialog to pick the app. Argh!
Alongside fixing this, could a future update to WindowBlinds add some option to temporarily disable it without uninstalling it? When a situation like this comes up there's no way to keep going.
And another thing, when you try and uninstall WindowBlinds, it asks you to close it before proceeding, but there's no way to do this.
Which version are you running? The latest version we pushed out, 11.06 we believe resolves this issue.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please get the latest version as mentioned on your other post on another thread. As for your issue, WB should unload itself once you apply the Windows theme, have you tried it before uninstalling?
11.04, see this post, which the WB update check claims is the latest. However there's a followup post saying the updater isn't working properly, I'll try a manual install via the link on there.
I just wanted to add my voice. I had the same problem a while ago, and it just happened again. WindowBlinds was trying to update, but I ended up having to completely uninstall it. I am not sure I will reinstall. This is a serious bug.
