Screenshots and videos are very helpful. Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post. Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.
If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions. If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Yes, sorry
I was referring to my issue posted in 2.51 thread.
If I set "aligned left" task bar, the screen is flickering so quick, that PC is hardly manageable.
( no issue in 2.5 )
Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products . Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.
Icons slipping automatically on secondary monitor bug still present.

Is there a memory leak in the new Start11 that causes explorer to gobble up memory when the computer is at the lock screen for several hours?
Since installing Start11 2.5 I've noticed that explorer.exe has gobbled up memory when the computer has been left at the lock screen for several hours or overnight. I can't say that the recent Start11 update is at fault. Because several things in my setup changed two weeks ago at the same time I installed the Start11 2.5 update. I've also been installing the betas for Start11 2.5 and that hasn't helped. I can't say Start11 is to blame for the memory leak. But it's increasingly likely the cause.
System is Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2894). Currently running the Start11 2.5.2.0 j201 beta version. System has 32MB RAM. Intel i9-12900H mini PC using integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics.
Dual monitor setup with one 4K (3840x2160) display and one 1920x1200 display. The 4K display is one of the things that is new two weeks ago.
I don't run any other Windows customization tools or visual tweaks other than Start11 and mostly stock Windows visual settings. I don't even have Start11 enhance the taskbar. The reason I have Start11 is just for the better start menu. I don't make use of the taskbar enhancements. My setup is boring. And that's how I like it.
Normally the Windows Explorer process runs at around 200-something MB memory used (according to Task Manager).Right now Windows Explorer is using 662 MB after having been at the lock screen for several hours today. If I restart explorer the memory use will be back down to below 200 MB.Since installing Start11 2.5 there have been times I've come back to the computer after being at the lock screen for 12 hours and Windows Explorer is using over 2000 MB of memory and lagging very badly.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure if it is Start11, but you can make sure Start11 properly install by, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products . Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.
Please make Start11 stay behind and not in front of Retrobar, there's probably a lot of Stardock customers here that rely on Retrobar for a proper older Windows taskbar design.
Start11 getting in front of Retrobar ruins any attempt to restore the Windows Vista start button with the orb actually beyond taskbar margin.
The way it is now just cuts the upper part of the orb cause Start 11 draws itself above the Retrobar.
That option to move the start menu don't counts since it just move the menu upwards and left an empty space between taskbar and start menu.
Thank you.
I did the uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot dance.
Left the computer at the lock screen (win+L) for 8 hours.Windows Explorer started at 247MB, went to 328MB after 2 hours, went to 443MB after 8 hours.
I have another computer with the same hardware. But it is still running Start11 version 2.11. It is in my music system running Roon and music stuff. It stays hours and hours and days at the lock screen. The memory used by Windows Explorer doesn't grow or increase while at the lock screen. Right now Windows Explorer on that computer is using 268MB. Which is about what it was using 8 hours ago and a day ago and the day before.
It feels like there is a memory leak going on while the computer is at the lock screen. Curious if anyone else has noticed this. Or is it just me?
Possibly it just you, since nobody else came in with similar issue. However, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
Started at 300-400MB, while it was locked for 7 hours apparently it was taking 200MB, then when unlocked it took 300-400MB again. (each sample is 10s, so this image shows almost an hour... but even expanded out to maximum only shows a flat line)
My test machine does not have two monitors like yours, however. And my main machine that does have two monitors, I leave it locked every night and I only see 250/400MB right now. Certainly not 2GB.
With task bar top aligned on second monitor, the icons are not centered ;
While on main moitor, it's ok.
W11 Pro - 24H2 - 26100.3037
Does your computer have a touch display?
I tried it for fun, but really the opposite happened for me.Started at 300-400MB, while it was locked for 7 hours apparently it was taking 200MB, then when unlocked it took 300-400MB again. (each sample is 10s, so this image shows almost an hour... but even expanded out to maximum only shows a flat line)My test machine does not have two monitors like yours, however. And my main machine that does have two monitors, I leave it locked every night and I only see 250/400MB right now. Certainly not 2GB.
I don't know why this is affecting me and doesn't seem to be affecting others. Maybe it's due to something unique or less common in my system. But my system is boring compared to gamers. My dual monitor setup is a little less common because it is a 4K monitor and FHD monitor. And my 4K monitor has a different sleep mode and process than the FHD monitor. So the two displays go to sleep and then eventually power off differently when the lock screen goes to sleep. Then they wake up differently and in different order and timing when I wake the computer up from the lock screen. Maybe that's causing issues as Start11 sees the monitors disappear and reappear in a strange way while the computer is at the lock screen? I'm trying to figure out what could be going on for me and this setup.
I'll continue to investigate. I'll try to remember to remember to uninstall Start11 tonight. Then have the computer sit at the lock screen overnight using the stock Windows 11 start menu. And see if that leaks memory. I've created a user defined collection in Performance Monitor to log the memory use by Explorer. I'll run that tonight before putting the computer at the lock screen.
What program did you use to get the graph the memory use by Explorer? I've seen that style of graph before, but can't recall where. And does that program log and collect data while at the lock screen?
And pop-up messages are a half off the screen ( this is second diplay )
On a hunch I decided to change the power saving setting on my two monitors. To see if the potential memory leak was caused by the way the monitors were going in and out of sleep mode.
I changed the power saving mode on the two monitors from "Normal Level" to "Deep Level".
Then left the computer at the lock screen overnight. And this morning explorer was using under 200 MB. Memory use didn't increase overnight. Maybe that's the source of the problem?
I'll continue to experiment to see what's going on. Progress is slow because I have to run the different scenarios overnight. Can only do one experiment per day.
I'm using Asus ProArt monitors.
