The vertical left experimental taskbar was working last night. I then set the computer to hibernate. When it woke up, my Start Button icon was gone. I restarted explorer and it wasn't fixed. I restarted the PC and it wasn't fixed. I then uninstalled Start11 , didn't save settings, and restarted PC. Reinstalled Start11. The Start Button icon is still gone. I can click in the area and it opens the menu but there is no longer any icon. I centered the icons so I can click the blank space but am wondering if this is a bug? I hibernate to keep all of my applications open and restart every week or so. Thank you.
Are you using a custom start button? If not, try using a custom start button and see if it works.
Well that's hilarious! I wasn't using a custom Start button. All I did just now was turn the option for custom Start button on and the Start button showed up. I wonder if that's required for left vertical taskbar. Hmmm... But now I want to make a custom start button of like Pikachu or Baby Yoda or something. Thank you! I'm testing this on my home PC but hoping I can get a security exception to install it at work. Thanks for the suggestion!
Strange that if I uncenter the taskbar icons, they do overlap with the custom Start button (align right to the top and overlay the icon) and they did that before as well when it broke. It's like they're aligned to overlap where the Start button is supposed to be. It wasn't like that when I first installed it last night but at least I can visibly see the Start button now. I don't mind the icons having to be centered especially since I can resize the height to fit more.

I believe there is a bug somewhere having to with with displaying the Start button on the vertical taskbar. I have reported it several times, but have yet to see a fix.
Thanks. I'm glad they have a forum but it doesn't seem up to date. Like when I went to make a post only Start 8 is there in the dropdown under the Start Menu Products. It'd be nice if they had known issues posted somewhere. Also in that one thread of the release, you can't reply to anyone's post so I couldn't say "me too!" LOL. Need a stack overflow of how many times something is coming up like a feedback type of forum (not that it's helped Microsoft to give us back the vertical taskbar!)
The 2.51 beta should be available on your downloads which may help.

Ok, thank you Basj. I will probably purchase at the end of the trial for my personal PC. Still testing out v2.5. The custom Start Menu icons don't seem to work but at least I have a Start Menu button now!
