Hi
i will downgrade as my desktop has now some invisible boders and margins.
Here you can see, my taskbar is via Start 11 on top but still some ghost is making inpossible to place the Nexus Tool to the bottom as it was.
Moderator: Your response was edited due to code error. Please don't copy-paste images. Please add them via the picture button in the second row of the tools above, or via the "+" sign in the same row. Sorry your image of the Nexus dock was lost. You can readd it should you wish.
Moderator again [Jafo Admin] ...this above is the image initially. The second image was the code error.
Sorry,
i've posted a photo but the forum software converted it into code. I can't remove it.
Can someone please remove the long piece of code?
The forum itself is extreme slow from Europe, usually slow, today extreme slow.
I am also suffering from the same issues with the blank folders popping up.
It started with version 2.5
It doesn't happen when I uninstall Start11, and returns with it reinstalled.
It also goes away when I remove Explorer Patcher, so I'm sure there is a conflict with both apps.
However, I am not uninstalling Explorer Patcher because of this problem.
So, is there an easy and secure way to reinstall an older version of Start11?
* I also want to note that once I do open the file explorer, the problems stops (as long as I keep the folder open on the taskbar)
Start Menu - Pro StyleStart button - Pro Style
Taskbar - Seconds turned onPrimary - topSecondary - topprimary works fine/as expectedSecondary is inconsistent at bestI think everything else is defaults
Move it to bottom/bottom - returns to normal/expectedplayed with the left/left right/right left/right right/left just to seeand bottom/top top/bottom again just to seeThe other versions did not seem as good as bottom/bottom, bottom/top, or top/bottombut, top/top seemed the worst - to me - but since that is the reason I sought this out to begin with, that is obviously the thing I notice most.
I will, if I can find the installer roll back to 2.11 if I can find the installer.
I have the 2.074 installer if someone wants it they can PM me. I am still looking for the 2.11 installer. Scoured my backups & net and can't find one. 🙁 Guess I won't be using the auto updater anymore and making sure to manually download and backup the EXE's.
Interestingly, I can not reproduce this issue on my setup using Windows 11 24h2, start11 v2.5, and explorerpatcher with taskbar: windows 10 (explorerpatcher). Everything is working for me as expected
Im trying to find the variable, are you using Windows 11 23h2?
What do you mean by inconsistent?
We plan to investigate this tomorrow to see about doing a beta update with a fix.
I must note that trying to use the win10 taskbar on 11 is whats causing this.
I downloaded version 2.11 from Up to Down. I don't like installing from 3rd party, but have used them before when running into other instability issues with other apps.
/fingers crossed
I am still using Windows 11 23h2.
I was reluctant to update, after hearing all the horror stories, especially from users who like to customize the appearance of Windows and the stability issues. Maybe I will finally bite the bullet and upgrade
I verified the SHA256 checksum of the v2.11 installer from UtoD but would like to see if someone who has downloaded it from StarDock (or StarDock's team) can verify if it's the same in case I do end up needing to go that route?
SHA256 Checksum27aa6a7ce8e379038b6c3ca8149f4376eaa2f50412278fc9874ed6d4d0397069Sorry, realized this is probably getting a bit off topic, I won't post more here unless it's directly related to v2.5 feedback, thanks for the grace!
Here's what I get on installers downloaded from Startdock.
C:\WINDOWS\System32>CertUtil -hashfile C:\Start11_2.1.1.0-j143-Setup_sd.exe SHA256SHA256 hash of C:\Start11_2.1.1.0-j143-Setup_sd.exe:8a37defc4e3bd9f2d0522f17bb1b88329ba8031461fcbb57a1ebdc46177b0193CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.

I downloaded that file and the CheckSum was the same as you got, but if you look at the properties for the file, it says it's 1.5.5.0
From my 1.5.5.0 installer downloaded from Stardock.
C:\WINDOWS\System32>CertUtil -hashfile C:\Start11_1.5.5.0_Setup_sd.exe SHA256SHA256 hash of C:\Start11_1.5.5.0_Setup_sd.exe:27aa6a7ce8e379038b6c3ca8149f4376eaa2f50412278fc9874ed6d4d0397069CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.
Yeah, I noticed the old icon of the installer after I posted above and then checked the details tab and saw the version number. So I loaded up a new VM and just installed it to check it out and sure enough was 1.55. 🫤 Back to combing the web. Don't understand why at least the previous version would not be available in our download areas for this type of thing? Oh well.
Star11 v2.5
The shortcut pins/icons on the taskbar on the secondary monitor freeze up and become unclickable.
If I got on Start11 and click "restart explorer" it fixes it just so I can click on 1 piece of software before it hangs and freezes again.
Start 11 2.5 is no longer compatible with Winstep Extreme. It prevents any maximized Window from occupying more than 50% of its normally maximized size.
Winstep Extreme docks came utterly unglued! Docks at the top of the screen went to the bottom even though they were set correctly to be at the top. If I made the dock slightly smaller, it would jump to the top and make itself tiny. Winstep Extreme software depends on finding the taskbar at the bottom of the screen or finding a standardized "screen space" if the taskbar is at the side. Start11 now has a HUGE amount of "Screen Space" to the right of a left taskbar.
The Winstep dock was aligned with the top of the screen until this beta. Now, the Winstep dock on the top of the screen bounces to the bottom or reduces the font size to tiny.
In debugging this, I discovered that the side taskbar used a lot of "Screen Space." In other words, one could not have any Windows object open that came anywhere near the left taskbar. A Maximized window on a 4K monitor could only enlarge to about 50% of its usual size.
I believe this bug would make everyone run from this very popular product.
I upgraded start11 to version 2.5 rebooted the computer as instructed by the installation and I have had problems ever since.
Items on my top-positioned task bar on my secondary monitor become unresponsive, whereas I never had this problem before.
Pattern to reproduce this: be active in a window on my primary monitor, then click on a anything on the taskbar of my secondary monitor and there is no response. If i right-click over an item on that unresponsive second monitor's taskbar I get the "configure start11..." menu as if there is nothing at that position on the taskbar even though there are many items on the top taskbar, such as windows 11 explorer (grouped as 1), 2 chrome windows, 2 word windows, 1 pdf window. Moving more or fewer windows to/from that monitor to the other doesn't seem to affect it. And by the way, when that "configure start11..." menu appears, it flickers the top 0.5" of the visible window so all the tabs on chrome; this also didn't happen with the prior start11).
The only way I can bring focus to a window on my second monitor is Win-Tab, then click on an app (on that second monitor's desktop) then it gets the focus, and then for a brief while I can toggle again between windows (on that second monitor) by clicking on their icon on the taskbar. But when I shift the focus to a window on my main monitor, the problem repeats on that second monitor's taskbar: nothing happens when i click any of the icons of the open windows on the taskbar (on that second monitor).
When I mouse over the taskbar when it is working, it shows previews of the windows. But when it does not work it shows nothing. It's as if start11 doesn't believe there are any icons on that taskbar.
This problem only exists on my second monitor; the primary monitor's taskbar behavior seems fine.
How do I revert back to a prior version of start11 so I can have a working second monitor again? The previous version was glitchy but not this bad because i never had a problem.
Configuration: Win10 style. Taskbar: "Let start11 enhance" ON. Medium taskbar size. Position: primary: align top; secondary: align top. On primary display and secondary display: Never combine taskbar buttons. Show taskbar buttons on: taskbar where window is open.

My laptop monitor is set to be the secondary monitor; I set the usb-c-attached monitor to be my primary monitor in windows 11, which is to the physical right of the laptop monitor.
I have since restarted my computer and this problem persists exactly as it was before the restart.
Hi man, I'm using both Start11 and Winstep Extreme but everything works smooth here... can you post some screenshot/video of the bug?
Baio
Sigh, just saw that too ;_;
Tried upgrading to 24H2 (hoping that may fix the issue), and that was a mistake! To fix one problem, had several more >.< Immediately rolled it back.
Just going to install an older version until the issues hopefully are fixed.
Suggestion to Stardock:
Please give access to older versions (for all apps), in case problems arise such as this and your customers wish to reinstall a stable version ♥
Same here...no problems. My task bar was at the bottom, and 2 WorkShelf Docks were on the right. Relocated to the left...no problems encountered.
Usually task bar at bottom and docks on the right:
I'm also using the nexus tool on bottm and side. Problem with 2.5 is, with Top Start Menui/Task Bar that the space where the regular task bar is (bottom) is a blocker, so the nexus tool can't place it bottm bar.
This is now it looks in 2.49 (correct), in my last post you see that there are some hidden barriers in 2.5.
Here 2.5
There is any trick to remove the barriers? The barrier is on the side, the wastebin can't be moved to left and the space between the nexus bar and the bottom of the screen.
I installed version 2.5, and since then, the icons pinned to the taskbar have become pixelated and look really bad. There was no such issue with the previous version.

After update:
Everything seemed to be working as it says on the box with my 6 monitor configuration.
Side taskbar seemed to work fine, tested them for a while using all the styles included, as well.
Did you use the new options to change the taskbar icon sizes?
We believe this is being caused by an unexpected way WinStep is doing things which is causing space to be reserved for bars which are not really in use.
We are working on a fix for this. I am assuming your 2.49 picture is an early 2.49 build rather than the later betas as this should have shown up in all the builds in January.
