It seems that the Fake pointer support when no mouse pointer is attached doesn't work correctly with a Bluetooth mouse, at least not the Apple Magic Mouse 2.
When the option is enabled, it leaves a ghosted copy of the mouse pointer that follows the primary mouse pointer around. Spent a few hours digging into researching this, only to find Multiplicity was the culprit.
See option I'm referring to and a video that shows the problematic behavior. I want to use this option as the Bluetooth mouse is not always on. It should see a mouse detected and not use the fake pointer.

And if you turn it off, the fake mouse pointer option? If it works as expected with it unchecked, that is how you should use it.

Seems like a bug to me. The setting indicates it would only work when no mouse is detected. But it is duplicating the cursor with a wired and wireless mouse connected.
If you have no mouse connected, how are you supposed to see the mouse cursor to enable the setting? That doesn't make any sense.

Again, do you see the duplicate mouse if you uncheck the fake mouse pointer setting?
I also see this issue with a Logitech G600 mouse. Unchecking the setting removes the fake pointer for me, however I use a HW-KVM to switch PC's but one monitor stays on the multiplicity slave PC, so whenever I switch PC's I need to toggle this checkbox.
The checkbox implies this fake pointer should go away when my mouse returns and appear when it leaves, but in effect I have to toggle the setting manually. Mildly annoying in my use case, particularly when the mouse has gone away and I have no pointer on the slave to hit the checkbox.
