Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen
Screenshots and videos are very helpful. Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post. Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.
If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions. If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.
Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 v2 a better product.
I got this to work by playing around with some of the settings and eventually it just started working. Not 100% what did it but I was messing around with padding and rounding. Have been unable to 100% repeat the issue.

System Tray didn't load upon Restart. Restarting explorer.exe fixed it.
Custom Start button flashes between states on hover.

Hi All
Start11: v2.4.9.2 Beta (Dec 19)Windows 11: 24H2 26100.2605 (Enterprise Edition)Computer:4 Monitors (DELL U2719D) (Monitor 3 is the main display):
My issue is a disappearing Task Bar on the main monitor, or a missaligned Task Bar (mostly on the main monitor) in RDP or after RDP.My scenario:I mostly work on my main PC, but sometimes also in the living room on my laptop. But due to having a very powerful PC, and an older Laptop I prefer to RDP to the main PC from the Laptop and work like this. The laptop obviously has different resolution and is just one screen. (Resolution of the 4 screens, 2560x1440 each, resolution of the Laptop: 3000x2000)
However, especially after "moving back" to the PC and logging in there after an RDP session, the Task Bar starts acting up all funky. It's either misaligned or it does not display at all.
Let me show you with a few example screenshots.First login after reboot on the main PC, everything is fine (disregard the slight missalignment in monitors, that's because they are physically hard to align so I have slight offsets for them in Windows):
RDP'ing in from the Laptop for the first time: Everything is fine:
Now logging in on the PC again directly, the Task Bar on the main screen is missing:
When logging back in via RDP, the Task Bar is misaligned and does not have the full width:
Here are a few settings that I use:
Thanks for an awesome product that fixes most of the gripes I have with the awful Windows 11 default experience.
Cheers and happy holidays
Not showing as available for me either in Object Desktop or update check in Start, which is at 2.49.1
You can download the new Beta from your Downloads page.

If when you physically at the PC you once RDP'd to and restart Windows Explorer, does that resolve it?
After further testing. I have discovered the the System Tray does not populate after a restart if no apps are pinned to the taskbar. If at least one app is pinned to the taskbar, the System Tray populates normally after a restart.
This also seems to be the case with how the Start Button behaves. See https://forums.stardock.com/532897/page/3/#3954386
Yes, it does
I am having two monitor setup at home and at work, and vertical taskbar on my left side of screen...But at home on my main screen taskbar is almost everytime after reboot empty of taskbar icons, except start button
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately, after uninstall is done, re-download latest Start11v2.4.9.2 beta from your product download page. Install it, reboot again, retest and report back.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
When trying to launch certain games / apps under universal applications for the first time, get the following error when windows is trying to install what I'm guessing is some dependencies for the game. Looks like mostly DX or VC++ redists.
Looks like this exists on my machine but its...
C:\Windows\System32\CustomInstallExec.exe
Maybe case is an issue?
Pretty sure this has always been an issue, not just on the new beta.
Hi there, I'm experiencing a strange behaviour since some weeks, it happens both with last stable version and actual betas (Windows version is 24H2 build 26100.2605), don't know if it's a bug or I am missing some option.
I'm using this dual monitor layout (which replicates the physical position):
Monitor 1 is 3440x1440 connected to the VGA (main monitor)
Monitor 2 is 3840x2160 connected to iGPU
I'm using the Taskbar in the upper side of the monitor (it shows only on monitor 1) with autohide enabled.
This is the 'normal' layout that icons assume:
Thats what happens if I add some file to the Desktop (f.e. if I download something from the browser as Desktop is the predefined download location):
The file automatically takes this position but I can't move any icon to the same position on my own. If I try, the icon is automatically moved to monitor 2.
This happens if I use those settings of Start11:
If I lower the Y offset value to "None" icons arrange like this:
But as soon as I move any other icon or add a new file to the Desktop, the first icon (upper left) is moved to secondary monitor.
Hope I explained thing in an understandable way, it's something so strange to describe.
Thanks.
Baio
You don't need to be an Object Desktop subscriber to access the beta; you only need to own Start11 v2. I don't see that you do it under the account you are posting under. If you do own the product under a different account, you can get the beta from your account page
Other bug just discovered (v2.49.2 beta - Windows 24H2 build 26100.2605), when using the Taskbar top aligned and righ-clicking on the Start button, the child menu is misaligned:
Hope this is one si easier to reproduce, but the other one is very messy and is making me think of unistalling Start11.
I tir
I tried this, and it works correctly at my PC. Maybe restart explorer.
I do not understand your previous post, Start11 has normally nothing to do with crazy automatic arrangement of Desktop icons on Windows, my desktop icons jump from monitor to monitor as I plug or unplug external monitors.
Thanks for your replay.
Already tried to restart Explorer... no luck. Also tried the uninstall - reboot - install again procedure, but same result.
I know it's someything difficult to explain with words and pics, probably a video would be better but I don't know a free app that can record both screens. What I know for sure it's definetely a problem carried by Start11, if I uninstall it, everything works smoothly.
It's something that has to do with reserved space for the Taskbar but also with corectly identifyng the main monitor, otherwhise new files wouldn't be displayed on the secondary screen.
Thankyou but it will be unlikely that anything is asked for or addressed before we return from beak. Please see the pinned holiday message at the top of the forum for the schedule.
Thanks for the feedback.
Will it ever be possible to have the tray icons window with a matching custom background setting?
Good Morning,
Since the program was created, there have been two bugs that have irritated me immensely (They are still unrepaired to this day):
1. Often, after restarting the computer, for the first few to several seconds, the start bar is divided in half, after which it returns to normal ("Let Start 11 refine the taskbar" is Disabled)
2. When the option: "Let Start 11 refine the taskbar" is enabled and the button position is set to centered - there is no widget on the left side. When the button position is on the left side, the widget menu is displayed correctly.
I would be very grateful if these errors were fixed | Thanks & Reagards
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. It is best if you also tell us what is your Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
For the first issue, try this setting and see if changing that help with the first issue.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Welcome back,
Thanks for your quick response. Here are some more details:
1. I will test changing the option in dropdown menu: "Taskbar touch mode detection". I will add that if the option: "When the option: "Let Start 11 refine the taskbar" is Disabled - issue not occur, but I don't want to turn it on
2. Windows Version: 24H2, Compilation: 26100.2605
It would be great if these bugs could be fixed in version 2.50, Regards
3. Additional issue - When the rounded corners of the start bar are enabled - I don't understand why you can't set the distance in pixels: vertical and horizontal from the edge of the screen to be identical. Issue occur for 2560 x 1600 resolution & system windows screen option scaling: 125% or 175%. it will probably stay like this and not be fixed due to the fact that because above the resolution and scaling option of Windows 11 are not common.
Thanks for help, Regards
If you have lots of issue, please create your own thread so we can help you there instead here in general beta release feedback thread.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
I do not wish to pressing and obtrusive. My issue with the visible half of the start when turning on computer has been resolved, thanks to You. Changing the option in 'Taskbar touch mode detection' solved the problem.
