Right click on an icon and trying to select to run as administrator results in the following message:
Fresh installation on two different systems. Both version Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (Build 26100.2454) German.
Try this and see if it works, or if you get the same Error message, and report back.
1) Open the Start11 menu2) Hold down ctrl+shift and left click the app
Ok that's working like expected.
Okay, that's good to know. Windows knows how to find it, but Start11 is having trouble.
1) What menu style are you using?2) How did you add the shortcut to the Start11 menu?
Try deleting this shortcut, and then add it back by right-clicking the group where you want it, and select New>Pin installed application
Report back with your findings.
Surprisingly the windows 7 styles work but all other don't. I'm using windows 11 pro style. It makes no difference either however I add a shortcut to the menu. I don't know if it's a related problem but I also can't see the everything tool search results.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try these steps. Uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall is done. Redownload latest Start11v2 installer. Install it, reboot immediately right after the installation is done. Retest and report back.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
After doing as you suggested it didn't work. I cleared the settings as well. If I try to start an app like windows notepad it's fine but not if it's a self installed program. To me looks like a localization issue because it occurs on a german windows. The path from the error message exists. I can cd there in a cmd window.
Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I followed all of these steps but no success.
Try installing in Windows Sandbox and see if the issue also appear in there. https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1416855562/Testing+Start+in+Sandbox
Thank you,

Sandbox seems to be broken on all my windows instances. But I figured there's a different context menu when I search an app. It has an item to run as administrator which works. Meanwhile I'm using version 2.5, but the issue persists.
Not really sure on your reply above. So does the same issue appear in the Sandbox or not?
Microsoft screwd sandbox so I'm not able to test that. Nevertheless I'm testing on a virtual machine which is the same. As well I encounter the same issue on different machines. To me it's obvious that the path showed in the messagbox is wrong. The path "shell:appsfolder\%allusersprofile%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" is entirely misspelled. The correct syntax would be "%allusersprofile%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs".
Got it. I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
I am pleased to say we could reproduce this and have resolved it for the next update.
Thanks for letting us know. It looks like it only impacted some shortcuts.
Glad to hear, thank you.
Just for the record: update 2.51 fixed it for me, but I had to export the settings, reset Start11 and reimport.
Great, glad to hear that.
