This Does NOT work sorry
Start11 2.11 no longer includes the option to hide the account picture square in the start menu?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Try this setting.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Thanks! I didn't expect this option in the Quick access shortcuts section, but it makes sense actually. Problem solved.
Translation problem:
Someone knows the correct entry?
Thanks!

Windows Version: 23H2 (OS Build 22631.4169)
When I first downloaded Start11 (Trial Version) everything worked fine and I wanted to purchase it. Except when I started my computer the next day I realized that the Windows key on my keyboard doesn't open the start menu anymore. Under "Control" in Start11 I've made sure that everything is on and set to Start11. I've tried two different keyboards and neither of them work.
Thanks
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Something might not get installed properly. Try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall done. Re-download Start11 v2.11. Reinstall it, reboot immediately again right after the installation done. Retest and report back.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Hi, I'm trying to install Start11 v2.11 and I get this error. How do update from v2.1 to v2.11? Thanks

Who decided to change “Task Manager” to “Task-Manager” in the 2.11 release?
See: https://forums.stardock.com/530992/page/1/#3945099
Are you looking for a first and last name here?
Haha! Just the impersonal who.
I recently installed the trial version of Start11 v2 2.21 and I noticed that the right widget is already displayed even if the Enhance taskbar option is enabled, its cool that... but after the trial period was over I went back to my copy of Start11 (1.55) and they haven't fixed that problem.
Something that I also noticed is that in the all programs section of the start menu, the initial letters appear very small in Start11 v1:
Instead in Start11 v2 they appear larger, like the standard windows 11 menu:
It is sad and regrettable that they have abandoned support for users who bought Start11 in order to give priority to update v2.Will both details be corrected for Start11 v1 someday or can we just resign ourselves?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I believe it always not available for Windows 7 style, but available in Modern style.
The issue already raised to Support linked to that thread. Appreciate the report.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, from what I understand, moving forward, you will need to move on to Start11v2 to resolve issue that Windows introduced on their current and future updates.
Thank you for replying.
"you will need to move on to Start11v2 to resolve issue that Windows introduced on their current and future updates"
Start11 is a program focused on Windows 11, so this lack of support seems to me a disrespect to the users.
Why doesn't it deserve to be supported anymore?
To get more money out of people?
Having to pay again for them to solve those bugs that should be solved since it is the same operating system seems unfortunate to me.
It will be fixed in the next release. If you go to the en.lng file in the install \lang dir and edit it (bottom), it will change it.

I am sorry you feel this way, but it's time to upgrade!
The first non-beta version (0.95) of Start11 was released in October of 2021, and the most recent update (1.55) was released in August of 2024. If you do the math, that's three years of support. This is well within the life cycle of most productivity software.
On September 9, 2024, Sean Drohan, Stardock Product Lifecycle Manager stated:
"The 'force' is Microsoft, aspliid. While we have made efforts to ensure their changes do not totally break Star11 v1, Start11 v2 is the currently actively developed version and should be used to keep pace."
Which I take to mean that Stardock has made every effort to keep Start11v1 working as long as they could, but with all the changes made to Windows 11 over the last three years, it has become untenable to continue to support.
I just checked and the Upgrade price for Start11v2 is $3.99US. I know you are in Mexico, so the actual price may be different.
If you are unwilling, or unable to make this upgrade, you will have to live with the issues you have reported.
Curious that this is a mystery to some.
Start11 v1 was updated and supported for several years
https://www.stardock.com/products/start11/history
Start11 v2 had 50+ additions and changes and now has a long history of updates itself.
We charge for new major versions (never minor) to keep features coming and to keep pace with the changes Microsoft has made to their products, namely the OS. We feel the sub $10 asking price is fair for this effort - we are sorry you do not.

In my opinion, it would seem that with the way Microsoft changes often that explorer extensions are often doomed to break at some point. Maybe, as we move to the next version of Start there should be serious thought of moving away from them entirely. For example, start 11 v3 could come with a taskbar alternative that works similar to ObjectDock rather then an extension of windows 11's ever changing taskbar?

If one buys a product it is to receive support and improvements in the future, regardless of the amount or size they are. And that goes for operating systems, games, utilities, etc.
For example, Cyberpunk 2077 has received more than 200 improvements and fixes and I only had to pay once.
Windows 10 the same: it has received multiple changes and fixes over more than 9 years and I only had to pay once.
And I can mention hundreds of examples like that.
So, that Start11 v2 has multiple improvements is no excuse to charge again being at the end of the day an upgrade.
It's not an upgrade? don't call it Start11 v2! ah but you couldn't change the name because it works on the same operating system.
And it's not about what it costs but about respect for the user who believed in you and your product.
Seeing this, I wouldn't even think of buying a hypothetical Start12 knowing that later on a Start12 v2 version “with multiple improvements” will be released, and I will have to pay twice.
The problem with the tiny initials in the Start11 start menu is not from now but from the beginning, and being told that I have to upgrade, i.e. pay again, to solve it is unethical.
I repeat, it's not about money but about credibility.
And I could name countless more that do charge for substantial upgrades (but you know that).
Its unfortunate that you do not see the value in Start11 v2 or appreciate the business model that helps us produce it at all. However, if there is nothing attractive about Start11 V2, we totally understand if you wish to keep using V1. We, as we always have, will try to support Start11 v1 from catestrophic obsticals MS may introduce.
Thanks for the feedback, adrianrr.
