While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

On June 29th, in the "Start 11 2.08 Release Feedback Thread", I wrote a note about how the app buttons work - and in particular how an app's open windows (e.g. open emails in Outlook) stack, or rather, DON'T stack, when the taskbar is located at the top of the screen.
Start11 2.08 Release Feedback Thread » Forum Post by sdrohan (stardock.com)
I'd hoped against hope that a fix for this might find its way into the next version. Of course, it was probably too late at that stage, and nor did the note elicit any kind of response from Stardock, so I guess it's not regarded as too important.
Which is a shame, because the problem renders Start 11 useless if you want the taskbar at the top of the screen, which, for me at least, was the only reason for buying Start 11 at all!
Just installed v 2.1, and it's still the same.
Could I ask Stardock for a response this time please, even if it's only to say "we see the problem, can reproduce it, but unfortunately we're not going to fix it".
At least I'll know where we stand in relation to this problem.
Many thanks.
https://forums.stardock.com/527907/get;3934609 - None of this has ever been fixed! Two beta versions, then the final release, but the bugs were never fixed! In addition, the problem with displaying the context menu for shortcuts to portable programs added to the Start menu has not been fixed. Have you decided to move in the opposite direction: further is worse?
Everything has to be running in the background for the option to use everything for search. It sounds like you have set your system up to not allow Everything to automatically startup on login (invisibly). This is not a bug in Start11 as auto starting is the expected and default behaviour for Everything and is required for Start11 to use it. Is it possible you are using a portable version of everything?
With regards to portable apps, I cannot see any information on that link about those?
I will get the translations checked for Russian as those should have been addressed.
Hello! Thanks for the answer. I didn't mean there was a search problem. Check out the screenshot from the link above. Problem with text translation. In this case we are talking about the translation "Task Manager".
Came to the forum to report the issue with being unable to right click on apps when the taskbar is on the top and saw it's fixed Thank you for this.
Requests:
Appreciate all of the great work.
This app has improved windows 11 substantially for me!
Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.4037
When enabling my second monitor using Duet 2.6.8.1 while using Start 11 autohide, the taskbar does not unhide.
Hello there,
Did someone managed to translate this entry?
Can't match the original entry and don't get the translation to work..

Hi Stardock,
I'm loving Start11 but I'm wondering if you can make it even more useful for me.
1. I would like it to Automatically group task-bar items together.
For example, today, if I have 3 copies of Edge open, I see:
[Edge1] | [Edge2] | [Edge3]
Which looks something like this:
Instead, I would like to see:
[Edge]
which, when clicked on, shows:
[Edge1][Edge2][Edge3]
Which would look something like this:
Also, today, I can pin document and folders to the task bar. I'd like to be able to pin apps so that my apps always appear in the same order on the task bar. I hate how my apps jump around all over the place as I work.
Thanks for listening!
Unfortunately, I don't believe this is possible with the taskbar on the top. If the taskbar is at the bottom, there is a registry setting that can be added to accomplish this, but it doesn't work with it at the top.
Windows Version 23H2 (0S Build 22631.4037)
Start11 2.1, pinned browser links not showing in the taskbar, was working in 2.0.9
Can be done already, Taskbar > Configure advanced taskbar, open Taskbar button combining and set How should taskbar buttons... to Always combine, or other...
@Neil Banfield (I hope I'm interpreting the name panel on the left correctly when assuming that you work for Stardock?)
I've now had 3 attempts at bringing this problem to the attention of Stardock, starting in June this year, but so far have had no acknowledgement from Stardock that it has either read any of them or recognised that there is something that could do with fixing.
I realise that this is an open public forum, and that responses cannot be guaranteed, but by the same token it seems to be the ONLY route to access Stardock Support. As far as I've been able to find so far, there IS no other route. No Support email address; no Support Department - just this forum. Or am I mistaken? If so, please correct and clarify.
Start 11 may not be a big or expensive product, but it is a paid-for one. Don't you consider that this lays some kind of obligation on you to listen to your customers, or at least acknowledge their existence, and listen to their queries or reports of bugs?
These 3 attempts are:-
1. https://forums.stardock.com/528587/page/1/#3934342
2. https://forums.stardock.com/527907/page/3/#3935360
3. https://forums.stardock.com/529970/page/1/#3940729
As the third one asks:-
"Could I ask Stardock for a response this time please, even if it's only to say "we see the problem, can reproduce it, but unfortunately we're not going to fix it".
"At least I'll know where we stand in relation to this problem."
Yet still no response whatever from Stardock.
I've tried to be polite and positive, but it seems to make no difference.
Quite apart from anything else, on the part of Stardock it constitutes a failure of manners.
Disappointing.
This is a feature request, not a bug. My experience is that the developers do not respond to feature requests. If they feel it is worthy of spending the time to make the changes, they will do so, but they typically will not respond. They will either include the feature request or not.
I understand your frustration, as I have been there, but it is their product and their decision whether to include customer feature requests. How many other software companies do you have experience with that will change their app based on a customer request for a feature. Not many I would suspect. Stardock is very attentive to their users and I have seen numerous feature requests implemented. There is evidently some reason why your feature request has not been considered.
Hopefully someone will respond to your post with an answer about your request.
"This is a feature request, not a bug."
Respectfully (as people always say when they mean the exact opposite! I jest; was v. grateful for your help in the original post) I disagree .
If that open-app-window menu behaves as one would want and expect when the Taskbar is down at the bottom of the screen, it's surely reasonable to expect that it behaves the same way when it's at the top? (That's not really a question - it's a statement! And a correct one.)
If it doesn't, and it's pointed out, and the difficulty of how it does actually function/appear when at the top renders it effectively useless, that's not a feature request - it's a bug .
Bug or feature request, I stand by the manners point too, especially when some kind of response (it doesn't have to be the one I'd want) is requested!
I have zero control over what decision they make, and of course it's their prerogative either way, reasonably enough. But simply not responding at all is crass, especially when asked 3 times, and doesn't really indicate being "very attentive".
As I said further up - "At least I'll know where we stand in relation to this problem".
Best wishes.
In the configuration UI, please add an option to change the language of the configuration UI. My Windows 11 is set to German, however in Start 11's configuration UI some things are lost in translation. Personally, I'd like to be able to change it to English.
Hello,
I gives my very high CPU usage, the fan is running at high speed
If I turn off the Start11 service, the PC becomes quiet again !
BTW ; it's strange cause in Process Explorer I do not see any process making high usage of CPU
Thanks.
Something might not get installed properly. First, please try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Re-download latest version available for you from your Account Download page. Install it and reboot immediately again after installation finished. Retest and report back.
Thank you,

Using Start11 version 2.1, Windows 11 23H2. Right click stopped working when taskbar is on top. I have taskbar only on primary monitor. It was working with previous versions.
This happened with the last Windows 11 update. It has been fixed, but only works with the taskbar at the top if you use the Enhanced taskbar.
Enhanced taskbar worked, thanks. But I had to disable rounded corners, or the buttons stays misaligned.
With Enhanced taskbar enabled, I can't open Windows Terminal, when I click it opens Windows Explorer. I've reported a similar problem also with Windows Terminal on November/2023. This time I don't lose the icon.
I updated to win 11 KB5041587 this morning and noticed the widgets icon has gone away from the taskbar. I tried restarting the PC, but nothing. I've considered reinstalling start 11, but I can't get to it right now. Any suggestions?
