I am running Fences5 on Windows 11. I am unable to resize any of my Fences vertically. I can resize them horizontally, but not vertically. I am aware of the proposed solution to right-click on a Fence and then go to View/Lock Fence and uncheck Lock Fence if it is checked. On my version of Fences, if you right-click on a Fence and then hit View, there is no Lock Fence visible, checked or unchecked.
Can anyone tell me what to do here?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more information on your system and issue.
As for the "Fences Lock" function, it was removed on Fences 5. But, you can use this guide to bring it back: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1621360668/Show+%22Lock+Fences%22+in+Fences+5
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I am running Windows 11.Home. Version: 23H2. Installed: 2-9-23. OS Build: 22631.3737.
My Fences version is: 5-Pack Subscription. My Product No is: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. My Order No. is: STARDOCK240624-3996-57432.
I have installed Fences Locked. Checking it locks all my Fences. Unchecking it unlocks all my Fences but the vertical re-sizing still does not work.
I am trying to figure out how to make a video of the problem but haven't done so yet. Let me work on that. But, frankly, I don't see why a video is needed. The problem is very simple, as I have previously stated. All of the arrows work except the vertical ones. The corner arrows work, but only adjust horizontally.
I hope this is enough information for you to figure out how to help me. Thank you.

My file version is: 5.5.4.2
Your fences should resize just like any other window; horizontally, vertically, and diagonally.
Did you upgrade from a previous version and keep your fences?
If so, try creating a new fence and see if it resizes correctly.
No.. I downloaded and installed a new version 5.5.4.2
Lets make sure you have a good install. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I have done this. Still doesn't work. Now what?
Next, please try Cleanboot, : https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1332445272/Fences+Clean+Boot
Note: Please read and follow the instruction closely. There are some risk in doing so.
Thank you,

No way in hell am I going to attempt this. I don't have anywhere near the computer experience to do it and I am not going to put my computer at ristk.
So what now?
When you place your cursor over the bottom edge of a fence, does it change to the "Resize" cursor?
Yes. But when I try to drag and move, the cursor moves, but not the bottom of the Fence.
I wish you have Windows 11 non Home addition so that you can do the test on Windows sandbox. https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#sandbox.
Does holding the shift key down while dragging make any difference?
No
Are you able to scroll the fence contents vertically?
Do Explorer windows resize vertically?
No. The fence contents (icons) snap back to their original location no matter whether I move them up or down. I can move them, but they always snap back.
I have no idea if my Explorer windows resize vertically. How do I determine that?
Is it possible for you to do screen capture on this issue and upload it to any video sharing site and post it public link here? If you don't have any screen capture application, you can try Microsoft Clipchamp, which is free and easy to use.
Open any folder on your computer and that window is File Explorer. Try to resize it vertically by dragging the bottom of the window with the resize cursor.
I have pretty much exhausted my suggestions, but please continue to work with Basj as he will be more likely to find what is causing your issue.

Do you mean open any folder or any app on my computer? I don't seem to be able to resize any window once I open an app, at lest not by dragging.
Then you have a serious issue with Windows and what you're seeing with Fences is a manifestation of that issue.
You may be right. I will call Dell Support and have them check that issue out for me. Thanks!
Let us know what you find out.
I certainly will. May take a few days, but I will let you know.
