JPEG (not just JPG) named files are now an accepted extension for images.
This should also address a problem on the Canary insider builds of Windows 11 where DeskScapes stopped working correctly.
This has a couple of tiny misc fixes and resolves the issue with deleted files still showing in the recent and favorites lists.

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

Did you guys break something? I am on windows 11 and I have had this running for awhile. I got a notification that there was an updated so I tried through Object Desktop and I got a red error. So I removed the product and tried to install it again, but got an error and it won't install now.
No, but what you might try instead is grabbing the installer from your account page:

Has Stardock ever thought of adding Sun or Moon in DreamMaker Pro?
It's utterly long overdue, just by a very simple fact that, NextScapes being almost perfect in its own right, but yet, simply missing the quench essential, Sun and Moon in the DreamMaker Pro.
Of course, I'm talking about something like, Interchangeable, Time-based Sun or Moon or just option to add such object.
It's been like, 10+ years overdue. It's insane.
DeskCapes, DreamMaker Pro,
Utterly missing Sun and Moon.
Downloaded the thirty day trial to check this app out. This is what I am looking for as I just want to play videos in the background of my desktop. First issue is my computer appears to be fairly taxed running this app, 50% gpu/50% cpu. Files are located on a separate drive from main hard drive. Ok computer, with 2070gpu/Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz/32ram. Second issue is it plays the entire video even though I selected the change file every 30 seconds. I tried 1 minute as well, no change. Files are .mp4 files taken with various gopros, ones currently playing were taken with the gopro 11 if it matters. Any suggestions on the first issue would be great... I intend to purchase this program if I can figure this issue out as this appears to be the only program with a playlist feature allowing me to play an entire years worth of videos.
Try downloading a few Dreams from WinCustomize https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/dream and see if you have the same issue. AzDude and Cyberslober are very versed in creating DeskScapes Dreams. Maybe one of them could help you figure out the issue you're having.
I've encountered an ongoing problem with my system that I have narrowed down to the Deskscapes host service. I think there may be a memory leak or some process that is infinitely looping and eating up RAM.
There is a deskscape.dll thread that runs and continuously cycles without finishing. The Paged and NonPaged RAM pool for Explorer.exe continues to increase over time until all available RAM (64GB) is consumed and my computer becomes unresponsive. This can be seen running Sysinternals Process Explorer and exposing the Paged/NonPaged Pool columns, as seen below:
While troubleshooting this issue today, my system reached a point where there was less than 8GB of RAM available before I killed the DSHost and Deskscapes related processes. The RAM that was being claimed was released immediately.
Not sure whether this is relevant or not, but I run a triple-monitor system with a separate image on each monitor, refreshed hourly from a playlist. I did test changing to a static background for each monitor without any playlist selected, and the same symptom persists.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Not a complaint, but more a suggestion/request. I have three monitors set up on my PC. I have two playlists with the same content in them and I applied one to the main screen and the other to the other two screens at separate times so they have all got different rotating backgrounds.
The suggestions I have are twofold.
1. Make it possible to apply to all monitors with different random starts so I don't have to maintain multiple playlists. I would like the option to not have the same background on all three while still preserving the option to apply it to all 3 if I wanted to.
2. Make the info box a playlist only setting at least. If you implemented the one above, then I should be able to apply the info box to 1 of the three screens. I expected that since the setting was on a playlist, if I turned it on for the main screen and applied it, it would apply to only that screen. It didn't. It applied to all three. Please make it playlist specific if you don't implement request #1.
Thanks!

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. On my system with only two monitors, I only need to have one playlist to apply and different wallpapers appear on each of monitors. I don't need to create two playlist for it. I only need to create two playlist if I wish to have two different set of wallpapers.

Has anyone encountered problems with Windows 11 feature update 24H2?One possible problem I've noticed is with Deskscape's randomization function. It doesn't seem as random as it was. It might be just my perception, as well.
Another observation that has nothing to do with Deskscape per se is with the standard Windows 11 wallpaper feature to choose a random background from the designated folder. Whatever process drives this feature seems to ignore one random wallpaper by presenting a blank desktop coloured by your designated solid background colour. I've had to change a couple of wallpapers from .png to .jpeg files to get Windows to display them. These wallpapers worked before the update.
Otherwise, Deskscapes seem to be working albeit a tad slower than usual.Cheers.
Hello.
I have a question: can Deskscape interfere with Windows spotlight.
I did the latest update (KB5052093) and Windows spotlight no longer works.
I did the reset, reinstalled Windows spotlight, restarted...
I used Copilot, to try to solve the problem and on my side, I searched.
Nothing to do: black screen.
Thanks.
See you later.
I don't think it is due to Deskscape since, from what I know, Windows spotlight only show on lock screen, yes? And I believe, Windows lock screen is not control by Deskscape.
Have you try checking this?
Thank you,

Thanks for the answer! Spotlight is back...
As for Deskscape, its way of reading Videos: it seems that it "skips" certain videos. However, I can't say for sure, I would have to do some tests and at the moment, I don't have time...
I had read elsewhere, that forum users had noted this behavior, which had caught my attention, out of the corner of my eye and I am therefore taking the opportunity to say it here.
But, I want to make it clear that for the moment, I am not sure of anything. As soon as possible, I will do some tests and I will keep you informed.
I have set the reading of videos to "in order" and "every two minutes".
Greetings:
I am a long time Stardock user and currently have the following issues with DeskScapes 11. My hardware is:
Alienware Area 51 R5 PC
Processor : Intel Core i7-7800X 3.50Ghz Installed RAM: 64 GB OS: Windows 11 24H2 64bit Build: 26100.4652
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX1080Ti with 11GB Network Adapters: Killer E2500 1GB
The issue i'm having is that DeskScapes causes my network card to disconnect when changing screen savers.
This kills my games and other apps that I use. I am not sure as to why this interferes with my Apps but it is annoying.
It only happens when the Screen Saver is Changing from one to another.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Look like you're having a unique issue. Please create your own new thread and we will try to help you there.
It doesn't work!
It's important to clarify: this happens when the PC is turned on.
If it's a simple reboot, while the bar works correctly, when I return to the desktop, the bar is functional.
If I turn off my machine (power off), as soon as I turn it back on and get to the desktop, the bar is stuck.
The problem deserves further investigation by the developer himself.
I think a Windows 11 or Nvidia update (I have a 4070Super and I use the NVidia app) must have messed something up, and the developer needs to make some adjustments.
I had the same problem and just fixed it. I'm on Win 11 Pro. Known random issue and NOT a Deskscape related issue. Here are the steps I used and had to use them once on Win 10 way back. It does work. I did a google search for "reset windows spotlight" and found this below. Make sure 'show hidden files' is enabled.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Detailed Steps:1. Delete Cached Files: Open File Explorer and go to the following path: %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\AssetsSelect all files (Ctrl + A) and delete them.
2. Delete or Rename Settings Files: Open File Explorer and go to the following path: %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\SettingsLocate and delete or rename the files settings.dat and roaming.lock. You can rename them to settings.dat.bak and roaming.lock.bak as a precaution.
3. Restart File Explorer or your computer if you don't know how to restart File Explorer.

Hope this helps.
