Hello there,
I found a bug with Start11 Search Bar/Menu.
When searching "Core Isolation" with the normal windows search bar (Windows Key + S) and typing Core Isolation, the result was there. How do I rebuild Start11 search index ? I will attach a video showing how it does show up when using Windows Search bar and how it does NOT show up when searched through Start11 search bar.
Core Isolation pops up when searched through Windows Search bar, but not when searched through Start11 Search Menu.
Hello,I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on your own thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Hi there! I started using Start11 yesterday and noticed that if Enhanced Taskbar mode is enabled, the outlines of selected or hovered application buttons have pixelated corners. I suspect that either it's just like this or 125% Windows scaling causes that (I have 34'' 3440x1440 with 125% scaling + 29'' 2560x1080 with default 100% scaling monitors), but the issue is seen on both.
Enhanced taskbar OFF:
Enhanced taskbar ON:
Another one pretty annoying thing with tray spawning at the top of main monitor when Enhanced Taskbar is disabled.
Please add an option to disable joystick input, as it affects Start11 (both v1 and v2) if the joystick is resting on a button, or have drift

Started a forum thread about this the other day (https://forums.stardock.com/528587/page/1/#3934342) - about how the Taskbar button stacking works at the moment (really badly!) - and pelaird kindly chipped in with some suggestions, but I thought I'd try to bring it to the attention of the Stardock Team directly.
This is how Taskbar stacking works on Win 11 without trying the "enhanced" options. That compressed menu of open windows for any one app (e.g. open emails in Outlook) is just about unusable. That little white down-arrow just scrolls through the open windows far faster than you can select one. Useless:-
pelaird suggested trying Start 11 "Enhanced" options. Sadly, they don't really make things any better, no matter what combination of button display options I try. And they take up a lot more space.
This is how it looks as the moment here, using "Never combine taskbar buttons". The other options are worse.
THIS is how this works as standard on Windows _10_, with no Stardock Start 10 installed, and it's absolutely what is wanted/needed. Stacks lots of open emails/windows in a vertical list (which can get a lot longer than this one), each individually visible and selectable. Perfect.
The fact that Win 11 doesn't do this is a hopeless UI design oversight (who thought it was a good idea to change it?), but it's surely an option that a paid-for UI enhancer like Start 11 should embrace. The current setup is terrible (sorry!).
As far as I can see, at the moment it does not.
This may not be the best place for this message, but in my book it still counts as "Start11 2.08 Release Feedback Thread".
And how else to contact Stardock Support? That's the question!

As I said on the previous thread, you can achieve this with the Registry change I showed you.
This is what I get when I change the Registry setting on Windows 11 Pro 23H2:
You have to restart your computer or sign out and back in for this change to take effect.
I see you have your taskbar at the top, so you are using the Enhanced Taskbar in Start11. I will test this and reply.
EDIT: I set the Enhanced Taskbar and put it at the top. I see now that the List thumbnail works, but it is a small scrollable list which only shows one item at a time, as you show in your screenshot. I'm sorry, I didn't see what you were trying to show. This can probably be fixed by Startdock. Hopefully they will consider this request.
I was grateful for your suggestion! Unfortunately, it does not work, at least not here. I'd have been even more grateful if it had
Very interesting to see that it works for you though. I wonder why there's a difference?
But as you wonder, perhaps it's a question of whether the taskbar is at the top or the bottom? Not sure - it's a reasonable question. I ought to give it a go.....
This is how it looked here, even after the registry change you suggested - I opened the registry window open so that you could see that I'd set it as suggested. And this followed a reboot too.
So that it's easier to see in detail than in the screenshot above, I've included a screenshot of just the registry setting, as it still is now, nearly 2 weeks later. I could see no reason to change it back from what you'd suggested. Regedit even re-opened on that section.
@pelaird - have just spotted your subsequent edit. Very interesting. No need to apologise. On the contrary, it's very interesting to discover that there's a difference in how this works, depending on the top vs. bottom position of the Taskbar. Thank you for taking the trouble to try it. Having someone else confirm the difference is a big help.
I will try putting it at the bottom myself to see whether it works that way here too - expect that it will.
Unfortunately, I think that the taskbar belongs at the top of the screen! In fact, Start 11's capability to put it there was my only real reason for buying it, since the older registry tricks for doing it natively no longer seem to work
@pelaird
You're quite right - the NumThumbnails setting does work the way needed when the taskbar is at the bottom of the screen.
Just a pity it feels so odd now, having it down there .
But it's in a different league of usefulness having the open windows displayed in this way.
Would be great to persuade Stardock to fix this so that it works this way when it's at the top too.
I'd say the fact that it doesn't counts as a bug. But then, I would....
Oooooooo, dragging and dropping pictures from the Internet into applications has been done. I purchased a license on Steam. Make another ObjectDock in Steam. I can’t buy it the usual way.
One small observation about an app's open-window list. IMO the sort order should be the other way up, with the app itself at the bottom, nearest its taskbar button, and the open windows listing upwards, with the most recently-opened at the top.
Having only just started using it since yesterday afternoon, it appears to be the other way around.
The way it is now would be the way up it needed to be if the taskbar and resulting list were at the top of the screen....
This could be said to be nit-picking however
I'm not sure if this is new to the most recent release or not (though I sort of remember it not being an issue before) but when allowing Start11 to enhance the taskbar and using virtual desktops, the program seems to stop obeying this windows setting:
I'm very used to using taskbar icons to jump back to a program when I may have forgotten what virtual desktop it is on, so this breaks my normal usage pattern and I need to go flicking through desktops instead.
You can open Enhanced taskbar customization and unwrap first menu. This behavior is controlled by Start11 and can be changed
Edit: My bad, thought it was about taskbar behavior on single desktop
G'day all – sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. I have just updated from Start 10 to Start 11 on a Windows 10 machine and, mostly, things don't look any different (which is good). I am using the "Modern Style" core settings. However, take a look at this (yes, I know it's blurred, deliberately)…
You will see that the flyout shown, from the right-hand column has a black background whereas any flyouts from the left-hand column have the expected red background. This behaviour is different from the earlier Start 10 installation and doesn't seem correct.
So, is there a setting I need to change or is this a bug in the software?
Many thanks for your help.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, looking back on Start10, I believe, it can not change the menu background color as you seen in my screenshot below. Not sure if it possible on earlier version. But, it might be changed due to how Windows keep changing things and I don't think you can change those menu background color to specific color. It will be black on Windows dark theme system or White on Windows light theme system.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
OK, thanks. I just don't remember seeing this issue before but I'm not going to loose any sleep over it.
It would be great if Start11 added using default windows search. I use a program to modify default windows search experience to my liking and it was bothersome having that work flow broken last time I tried it. If I could have an option to use normal windows start menu searching then I'd totally buy it.
I believe you can disable Start11 search, this will default your search back to Windows search.
Thank you,
I'm gonna be honest: I just disabled Start11 because of the persistent issues of windows not the taskbar and going full screen over it. This has been going on to some degree since I installed it, but at this point I can no longer deal with it as it seems to be becoming more frequent.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I tried to look for any of your previous post on this issue, but I fail to find one, if you was using different Username please post a link to it so we can refer back to your issue.
that's awesome, they didn't have that feature when I first tried it a few years ago. Tried to set it up the way I wanted it now and it worked pretty well definitely a purchase when the trial expires
thanks!
Great, glad to hear that.
I don't know if this is a bug or is intentional, but when I upgraded from Start11 1.5 to 2.08, I noticed a "Suggested" app at the top of my Windows 10 style Start Menu (above "All apps"). And there doesn't appear to be a way to not show it. This is separate from "Recently installed" apps, which I have disabled via Start Menu options.
My Windows version is Windows 11 Home 24H2 Build 26100.1150.
Also, thank you for "Settings backup" - that's what spurred me to upgrade more than anything.
