I followed the exact steps, but groupy tab still disappears if I right-click on a tab...
I don't know if this helps, but I also found error logs on Windows Event Viewer.
Do you have anything running that might alter right click menus in anyway?
Hello, I am the person who created a Japanese file under the name DiGS-O5 on GitHub.
This was my complete fear, and is due to a mis-description of the Japanese language file.I have already sent a pull request on github but it has not been reflected yet.https://github.com/StardockCorp/Stardock-Software-Localization/pull/74You can prevent the crash by replacing the relevant file or changing the language.
Thank you for your reply.
> mis-description of the Japanese language file.My Japanese frends all have the same issue, so that explains it!
> You can prevent the crash by replacing the relevant fileCould you tell me the right location?
> mis-description of the Japanese language file.
My Japanese frends all have the same issue, so that explains it!
> You can prevent the crash by replacing the relevant file
Thank you so much! I copied the entire contents in the updated version belowhttps://github.com/StardockCorp/Stardock-Software-Localization/blob/c3e06a619033008dcec913db99a5e9be3721cb01/Apps/Groupy/Groupy%202/ja.lngand updated the locally-installed `C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Groupy2\lang\ja.lng`.Then the right-click problem has been resolved!!
It's entirely my fault. I'm glad it could be resolved. I'm very sorry, but I would like to ask the Stardock team to merge the Japanese files as soon as possible.
The same phenomenon is occurring.・Groupy is turned off when the leftmost menu icon is clicked.・Groupy is turned off when right-clicking on tabs.Uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, then installing 2.1.5.3 and rebooting didn't fix the problem, but rewriting the language file solved it.
Hello, I have been a regular user of Groupy for a while now.Thank you for creating a very good application.
I would like to report a bug regarding Groupy v2.15.
[1]The system will not work when the language setting is Japanese. This is the same when SystemDefault is set to Japanese. If you activate the setting and set it to English, you can start the program.(Perhaps this will solve techneconn's problem.)
[2][Automatically group all 'EXCEL.EXE' windows together].[Automatically exclude from auto grouping all 'EXCEL.EXE' windows].Something seems to be wrong with these two settings. The Automatically settings for all docking, not just Excel, seem to be acting strangely.seem to be acting strangely.
This did not happen in v2.0, (I have old installer)happen in v2.15.Please check it out.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I can not reproduce this. First, please try this. Uninstall Groupy. Reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Re-download the latest version from your account download page. Install it. Reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Is this issue only reproduce-able with Excel? With Japanese as display language? Any other application also having similar issue? Such as File Explorer or Notepad?

I am using Windows 11 in Japanese.
As reported in [1], everything does not work when the display language is Japanese, even though it seems to be Japanese since around Groupy v2.15. Tabs in Groupy stop almost immediately.
Even with the English setting, the [2] problem still occurs, and this occurs not only with Excel, but also with VSCode and other apps.
I tried Japanese display language and Groupy 2.15 seem working just fine on it. Refer screenshot below.
I would like you to try the same steps I mentioned in my Reply#36. Try it and report back.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
All, I have rebuilt 2.15 (2.1.5.3) and replaced the installer to address the JA lang issue. Since the version is the same, no one will receive a prompt to update - if you are experiencing the JA language issue, you will have to update manually.
Go to your account page:
https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
DL \ Install Groupy 2.15, reboot, and try again.
Let us know.

Wow! Seriously, it's fixed!
I had reinstalled v2.15 many times when I reported it. So it did not work.
So I was using v2.0 until just now.
I uninstalled that v2.0 and then installed it with the v2.15 installer, which was newly created by sdrohan.
That seems to have fixed the problems I reported [1] and [2]. I thought the problem in [2] had nothing to do with the Japanese language, but it seems it was actually a problem with the Japanese language support.
I'm glad it's fixed! Thank you so much.
It took a lot of courage to report it because I'm not good at English, but I'm so glad I did.
Great, really glad you reported the issue and really glad to hear it was resolved for you.
Could you PLEASE add to the next update a choice to NOT have Groupy2 run for EVERY User. I'm on Windows10 and share my PC with my Mrs (she has her own User account on my PC) and she'd prefer to not be forced to use Groupy2
programs/apps that keep or lose their assigned tab colors after saving, closing, and reopening group. the instance of program matters in some cases.
keep color (so far as i have tested)
lose color on 1st instance (or greater)
lose color on 2nd instance (or greater)
Problem
Seeing some major memory leak behavior after a while, where all UI interactions in Explorer, especially hovering and clicking items, starts to see 100-300ms+ lag. Restarting the Stardock Groupy service in Windows Services seems to have solved the issue, so I suspect it's a memory leak since it gets freed and starts fresh by restarting it.
I've caught this happening repeatedly after about 1-2 days. I keep my machine running 24/7.
Update 1
Just now, maybe 10 minutes after restarting the service, I saw the lag come back in full force. I restarted the service again and it immediately went away, everything responsive again. Not sure why Groupy is causing this, but something's wonky.
I also suspect that Fences might be interacting weirdly, because I'm getting very strange, laggy behavior on the Desktop too. Interacting with icons, right-clicking for context menus is taking extra time, and hover states (borders/highlights) were acting the same way. The Desktop is really just another view for Explorer under the hood, so it makes sense it would be sharing the same weird behavior.
Update 2
Alright, saw the lag again, but this time I went into Fences and disabled it, and immediately the lag went away. Now I can't really tell which one's to blame, but I'm leaning on the Fences.
Environment
BUG
Minimizing and then restoring a "Combined button" Groupy taskbar item...causes a freezing, flickering, resizing, and disappearing window that struggles to re-appear.
REPRODUCE
1) Enable the "Show only one combined button" option in StarDock Groupy.
2) Create a group.
3) Minimize the group to the taskbar.
4) Click on the minimized group's taskbar button. The window will struggle to re-appear...it will look as if it's attempting to resize the window, flash on & off the screen, freeze, and sometimes just disappear behind other windows.
5) Only way to prevent this buggy behavior is to keep the window up or maximized. Then clicking on its taskbar item brings forward the Groupy window normally.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
Hi FamShoppa,
I followed your reproduction steps, and I don't think I'm seeing the behavior you've described from doing that alone.
To troubleshoot this better, can you first tell me:
Here's what I'm seeing in my Win10 Sandbox testing environment:
https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/WindowsSandboxClient_2024-05-16_13-18-09amcguinness.mp4
Does this match with your experience at all?
If you're experiencing something different than this, I wonder if you could capture a video showing what's exactly what's happening (including the exact group formation steps leading up to the behavior, as I did in my video?) You can upload such a video to cloud drive service of your choice (DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube, etc) and reply with a shared link here.

Hi Adam,
To answer your initial questions...
The group you're clicking on your taskbar, is this a Saved Group?
No, I don't use "Saved Groups" at all. I have a few programs set to automatically group (FireFox, OneNote), then I have others which I do manually (Directory Opus).
Is the saved group pinned to your taskbar?
Again, I don't use "Saved Groups" and I also don't pin anything to my main taskbar. But please read-on for some important caveats related to this...
What you're showing in that video seems very buggy behaviour either way...so kind of glad it's not just me. But in regards to the specific question...
The second part of your video does resemble what I'm seeing...but maybe because my PC is relatively older or has more active programs running...the glitchiness seems a little more dramatic!
It'll appear, disappear, and attempt to resize the window from maximized to the most smallest size possible. Sometimes I even get a situation where the window finally appears at the forefront...but it's been resized to such an extent that only the close button shows.
If you're experiencing something different than this, I wonder if you could capture a video showing what's exactly what's happening (including the exact group formation steps leading up to the behavior, as I did in my video?)
OH! Important thing I just realized! This is something you can include in your test environment...
I use "RamMichael 7+ TaskBar Tweaker" (latest version 5.15.1). This allows me to organize my taskbar items in whatever order I want. The default Windows 10 taskbar has too many annoyances for me. So this is "critical" software - and not something I can abandon.
These are the settings I use (link to screenshot): https://ibb.co/jgVJGk1
While your video indicated the "Show only one combined button" is a little flawed in its current implementation...I wonder if there's also a conflict between Groupy and Taskbar Tweaker? Hopefully you guys can iron this out and workaround...because Taskbar Tweaker has no alternatives and isn't really updated much.
P.S.
I need to learn + install software related to desktop video recording. So give me a few days for that. I'll have video for you next Tuesday (very hectic for me these next three days with house chores, visiting family, etc.).
