I encountered a bug with the Yor recently: Adaptable apparently does nothing for them in my game as I can't colonize extreme or exotic planets. So I decided to check if that might be because they don't have the tech in their tech tree and started up a game with the amoeba as the second species with adaptable.
When I colonized the planet next door, I got a message that the harsh atmosphere clogged up the colony's equipment. Okay, never got that with regular colonisation for the others, I assume it's pops up for exteme worlds. Thing is, this harsh atmosphere is the amoebas native habitat, their equipment should be able to handle it (within the confines of the game).
Same for the Yor. I got events that my food processor broke down or that my colonists got sick etc.
Also got the food processor one with the Luxar. Okay, maybe the grind the Promethion into fine dust or whatever to process it.
Anyways feels like the event triggers don't take being a non carbon species into account.
Little things like that can really break the immersion in the game
Totally agree! Game not really optimized for extreme species or custom civs yet. I'm sure this is on a to do list as extreme species and custom civs are two of the big selling points for the game.
And I got the Warforged faction building without having a warforged faction...
In general the Yor seem a bit iffy. I am missing the planetary generator which is an odd choice for a production focused faction, especially when they reduced the number of colony unique manufacturing facilities.
Apparently organics are also better at terraforming their planets as you only get one possible extra tile. Yeah building yourself and theoretically being able to readjust your body apparently does nothing for claiming new lands.
Also not having access to +growth sucks. Everyone else is an organic after all and conquering other factions means they grow slower. I also liked building the hospitals for bonus pops around my capital. Can't do that, so my planets have less population. I wouldn't mind trading for the techs which would fit, as my dudes certainly aren't experts in farming, they are even on offer but I can buy them but not use them.
And having to build your robots eats a lot of time, too much IMO.
What's with all the randomness btw? The Yor have two buildings that spawn stuff all over the place and apparently there's a new event which spawns a new improvement randomly (which is so fun when it places it right in a tile with only one neighboring tile). And the new event also spawns stuff all over the place. With all the randomness your starting planet can be screwed right from the start and only results in: "Yeah, that game goes into the garbage bin."
There are a lot of checks and tweaks for non-biological species. But there is nothing magical about them. They can't just colonize any old planet just because they're machines or what have you.
For instance, they won't get the Natural League event or many other events that are specific to biological species. The clogged up equipment is specific to synthetic races.
There are a lot of events specific to synthetic species.
Food Processor event expliciltly excluded Silicon and Synthetic civs.
Well, it happened, but when I read your reply that it shouldn't be possible, I ran a verification and several files were damaged. I hope that solves the issue but in case it happens again, I would be happy to send whatever you need.
I didn't mean that they should just be able to colonize everything for free, but synthetic civs are missing terraforming techs and can't get extreme/exotic colonisation unless they pick adaptable (when it works again). I am not sure why the baseline synth civ before perks is less capable, I wasn't talking about more capable. Maybe they could get that stuff in other techs or get a fitting extension to one of their trees.
I see what you mean. We will make sure they get those back next update.
I appreciate that.
A question: Is it intentional that the Yor don't get the planetary generator?
The randomness of the new buildings feels a bit much to me when you have several like the Yor (Durantium and Relic scanner plus eventual spawns from the new building event). It doesn't make sense for the Durantium to be placed by the player (good luck telling rock to please move over there), but maybe the relics and the event nodes+buildings could be movable (destroy and rebuild) or so? And I didn't get one from the event as Altarians, as the slot was already occupied.
Also the quantum processor from the event is a wealth improvement. Knowledge is it's own kind of wealth but I doubt it's meant that way.
I don't know if my proposal makes it too strong, especially if you go for maximum hilarity like when I made some ancient Yor traders for more spawns and buildings.
Finally I got a building from an event, the Black Market. The level up bonus seems a bit odd to me. I haven't played the Veloxi, maybe they would like it but no bonus at all, only crime, looks to me like something is missing.
