With the Start11 2.03 release, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.
Object Desktop members can get the release from within Object Desktop Manager
Individual purchases (as well as Object Desktop Members) can also be obtained from your account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
For guest check-out purchase (no account), from this link: http://www.stardock.com/support/productkeyretrieval
Please include the following for anything found:
Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)
Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen
Screenshots and videos are very helpful. Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post. Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.
If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions. If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.
Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 v2 a better product.

I can't find any post made from you on this thread.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I can not reproduce. Anything else I need to do to make the issue appear on my system?
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I can repo it. It took my a couple of tries of switching taskbar position.
I believe the diagnosis is this.... Windows 11 taskbar tries to set icons to the left while start 11 tries to move the icons to the center and they conflict in this instance. When I try to set the taskbar to center in [windows 11 taskbar setting] this fixes things for me everytime.
I still can not reproduce the issue. I tried changing the Windows 11 setting to have the Start button to the left or to the center, both do not show me the issue that they listed above. Any other thing to try?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
It should be noted the centre option in Start11 is marked as experimental. I imagine this is only happening when using that mode rather than left aligned start button, centre taskbar button mode?

This issue is intermittent. It happens for me when opening and closing certain apps, Notepad in particular.
I agree with PhoenixRising that is has something to do with the Windows 11 Taskbar setting for Center/Left alignment. With the settings as described in my post above, if I then go to the Windows 11 Taskbar settings, the Alignment setting says Left, even though Start11 is set to Center. If I try to change the Windows 11 setting to Center, it immediately changes back to left.
I also think there is a conflict between the Windows 11 and Start11 settings for taskbar alignment.

Thats normal. The OS is set to left align when Start11 is enhancing the taskbar. You must not set it to centre or it may cause issues as it resets things.
Is there any forward movement on this issue (undesirable items in Recent Documents)?
Thanks.

This has been resolved in the current internal build.
Thanks, Neil!
Hey Neil any word on the issues I mentioned a while back? Namely the tray icon issue and an option to "Forget desktop" for pages. Even deleting a page fails because adding a new one just slots it in where the old one was.
hi I noticed a bug on the 2.03 program
when you close a program at the bottom of the tray the icon is broken for 1/2 seconds and then becomes visible again.
This only happens when you close a program only when it closes.
I wrote about the same issue in post #69
sorry I didn't notice.
did they respond? I hope they will solve it
No response so far however i'm certain they are aware of it as I and a few others have mentioned it a few times (with videos) and it has been confirmed by several others (yourself included). It's also important to note that it occurs when a taskbar button has been removed by any means. This includes closing a top level window as well as moving the window to another monitor (the button is removed from the taskbar of the starting monitor and then added to the destination monitor).
While you wait there are 2 solutions I found that works. Neither are great but you can use them while we wait for a proper solution.
1. Use left aligned buttons. Sadly you give up center aligned buttons which I personally like.
2. Turn off the option for Start11 to "Enhance" the taskbar. In this case you can use windows taskbar settings to get center aligned buttons however since the new taskbar sizes buttons based on the text (if you have show labels on) you will end up with variable sized buttons.
Again neither solution is perfect however I'm current using option 2. While mismatched button sizing is a bit ugly (also windows does not update button text properly) i feel i can live with it for a minute.
Hope this helps
Super easy to reproduce in my case.
- Enable Enhanced Taskbar- Enable Center Icons- Enable Autohide
7 out of 10 times, a strange distorsion is seen on the first icon. Also, if you try to "move" that first icon, it will start to fight with the second icon and you can easily break both (will display one on top of another).
If you must "not center" why do you provide an option to Center Align.
It does not make any sense. Besides, the default for Windows 11 IS to center align. Logic dictates that center align should be the option that should be working always.
I can confirm the issue occurs when enabling "Center Aligned Experimental" as the Taskbar appears to fight between left alignment.
Please fix this. It is absolutely desirable for Windows 11 users to have the taskbar centered.
I use the PC ALL day long. I can't tolerate the Taskbar aligned to the left, I have a very big monitor.
I have already posted about a bug not pinning apps on secondary taskbars. You can only pin on secondary or primary, not all.
Another bug is right clicking on the start button on secondary taskbars, opens the Win+X menu on the main taskbar, even when it is set to open the Start11 menu on the screen the mouse pointer is on. Obviously this has to be fixed also, it does not make sense that with right click we have to search and look at the primary monitor.
Version 2.0 ist still a beta.... I am not getting much value till now. You should do more extensive testing on multiple monitor setups
Just a heads up that Start11 v2.04 beta was released today:
