I agree and truly hope that start 11 v2 is very successful for Stardock. This piece of software very well could be Neil and his teams masterpiece. It is that good!
I hope everyone has a good holiday as well
Hi everyone! Has anyone else found that when using Start11 and using Outlook (m365), clicking a pinned Outlook icon on the taskbar starts another instance of Outlook rather than maximizing the Outlook window?
I have two machines that are running Windows 11 and it only happens on one of them. (As soon as I uninstall Start 11, Outlook behaves just fine.)
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hi, Sean - thanks for your and Stardock's work on this version. But there's a problem.
I don't see the registry entry "S11_PutUniversalAppsInFolderByDefault" anywhere. It's gone.
See below cropped screenshot. It helps support my assertion that I don't see it on my end.
Can you kindly help? And yes, this is version 2.0.3.0 - I downloaded it today. Thanks.
Hello Omnimaxus,
You actually need to create those yourself for them to work
On all the reg edits you see listed. You should create a new "string value" and give it the name listed which in your case is S11_PutUniversalAppsInFolderByDefault
After you create it yourself you can then edit its value to 1 to turn it on or 0 to turn it off
To test your issue, I pinned Outlook (MS 365 desktop) to my taskbar by right clicking Outlook in the All apps list, selecting More, and then Pin to taskbar. Now if I click the pinned Outlook icon, Outlook opens. Clicking it again minimizes Outlook to the taskbar, and then clicking again restores it. Click minimize; click restore; click minimize; click restore.
However, if I open the Start11 menu and click Outlook, which is pinned to my start menu, a second instance of Outlook opens.
I'm running the following:
Windows 11 Pro - 22635.2771; Start11 - 2.0.3.0 (Windows 10 Style); MS 365 - 2312-17116.20002 (Windows and MS 365 are both Insider Beta editions).
Got it. Missed the part in the first post by Sean about "create." Thanks.
However - the folder reads, "Universal applications." Not "Universal Applications."
Need to capitalize the first letter of the word "applications." Helps with UI consistency.
This should be done for the next version update. Will Stardock do this? Thanks again.
I'm guessing no arm64 support? I tried to use the trial version but I have no idea why it closes when I click no for uninstalling it.
Yes, Start11 and, from what I know, all Stardock Software product don't work on ARM based system.
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Hi, I'm new to the forum, I purchased your program a few days ago and I was truly amazed, congratulations to the creators.I wanted to propose some questions- I set the transparency of the bar to 0 but the start menu remained unchanged, is it possible to make the start menu transparent too?- Is it possible to hide the start bar automatically when a program goes into full screen? I used to use the hide bar option on Windows but I got tired of this option as the bar went up and down.- Is it possible through the start11 program itself to change the icons on the Windows bar? this option would be very nice, there is a section to change the start button but there is no possibility of changing the program icons easily and simply without going through windows.last question (sorry for too many questions)- As we all know there are also free programs to change the start, and in the past I had installed one of these before moving on to your fantastic program, but I found one that works on other programs which here there is no possibility of setting beyond the start also a customization of the Windows folders which hid for example the address bar all the options at the top of the address bar, it would be nice to have a complete program, given that free programs have these options why shouldn't a program like this one which is 100 times better than all.Thank you
Yes, it is in a separate section [start menu] > [customize visual appearance] > [adjust menu transparency]
These could be considered feature requests. Neil and his team do take requests into consideration in future updates
I am not 100 percent what you are asking here but it sounds like you are wanting to customize the explorer menu. While start 11v2 is not meant to make changes here there are alternatives to make this happen such as using explorerpatcher in addition to start 11v2. In addition, I believe that Neil has stated that he is working on making start 11v2 more compatible with other alternative software that also change the explorer such as startallback which I am very interested to see progress.
If you are looking at github, it is hard to know what start menu you are talking about and what it does exactly because a lot of that progress is pretty new.
Minor issue, but the "Standard Locations" links to specific folders do not use my default file handler. They force it through Explorer, which I have replaced as the default file handler with OneCommander. Downloads appears to be an exception to this rule.
Adding links manually to my folder paths allows them to work, but each link uses the default folder icon rather than the icons specific to each user folder like Pictures and Videos. I am not sure where Start11's icons are pulled from, but I was not able to manually set the icons to the icons that come with the program. I found similar ones online to use instead.
Other than this, v2 has been a huge improvement. You guys knocked it out of the park with this one.
23H2 22631.2715
Start11 2.0.0.6
Win 11 23H2 22631.2715
Start 11 v2.03
Android apps installed via WSA will launch fine from the start menu, but not from a group/tab. Neither do Icons display when added to a group/tab
With Groupy 2, we can change the App language inside Groupy's settings. Now that translations are updated for Start11 v2, please add the same option.
That would be much more convenient than having to rename .lng files.
❌Unfortunately, when saving the settings, the pinned apps, icon settings and positions/groups are not saved. This was actually the reason why I bought v2. Is this still intended, or is it a bug that it doesn't work at the moment?
There's a bug.
Default start menu:
Start11:
(not found)
Also missing some options
Windows 11:
Is there a way to change the little underline that's put under the icon of a program that's open in the taskbar?
