When I enable "Start 11 autohide mode" I can't get the taskbar to show back up on the main monitor unless I press the Windows key on my keyboard. I can drag my mouse cursor down all I want but it won't bring the taskbar back up. I've since had to disable autohide.
The only workaround that I can see is keeping the Start11 Config screen always open, not even minimized; it has to be open somewhere on the desktop for the taskbar to be able to be pulled back up.
This is an issue in both the current stable version as well as the beta version (which I'm running).
I'm at a loss!
Hello, I have the same issue as trparky. When there is no window, the taskbar won't show.
I also tried to uninstall the Start11 via the script and install it again. Uninstall graphic drivers via DDU and install them again.
I have just one monitor. The Start11 version is 2.03 (released yesterday) and I run Windows 11 Pro 23H2 build 22631.2715.
Also, I noticed a weird thing. When there is no window and I press the Windows key (taskbar appears of course) then I click on the notification overflow button (the arrow icon in the notification area that contains hidden icons e.g. OneDrive) which displays "window" with a grid of hidden icons and the taskbar hides again. With this window active the taskbar shows again if I move my mouse to where it is/should be. But even if I do not click on any of the hidden icons and dismiss the window with the hidden icons (clicking anywhere on the desktop) the auto-hide feature of the taskbar works as it should, but only until I open and then close/minimize any window again.
Hopefully, I described it at least somewhat clearly.
I didn't see anywhere in this post that either of you are using the Start11 Enhanced taskbar. I assume you are if you're using the Start11 Autohide function.
What happens if you turn on all the icons in the System tray so that there is no Overflow arrow?
I tried turning off a few System tray icons (I usually show all) so that the Overflow arrow appeared. Everything still worked as expected.
I also enabled the Start11 Enhanced taskbar and tried changing every setting configuration I could think of and everything still worked as expected.
Since you both have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried the Purge and reinstall, there has to be something on your systems causing this. MalakAdonai only has one monitor, so it's not a two monitor thing.
You guys should talk to each other to see if you have anything in common with your systems.
Yes, I'm using the Start11 Enhanced taskbar.
Turning on all the icons, turning on some of the icons, turning off all the icons in the system tray - everything has the same outcome, the taskbar still won't appear.
While playing with the different settings I also noticed something else. While the taskbar is hidden when I move my mouse where there is a pinned app I'll get either tool tip with the name or window preview (if the app is minimized). If I hover over the the preview window to show the app but not click on it then the auto-hide feature is working as expected even when I click anywhere on the desktop. If I click on the preview window to restore the app and minimizing it again then the taskbar will appear and won't hide until I click anywhere on the desktop. But then it won't show when I move my mouse to the edge of the screen again.
Sounds like the taskbar is unhiding, but it's not displaying properly.
Try changing the Display Scale and/or the Display resolution and see if it makes any difference.
Hello again,I wonder if both of you're using the same brand of monitors which usually come with its own monitors manager software.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
Hello trparky,
So, both The Acer and The Asus are giving the issue where ever you assign it as primary?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
I never had a high refresh rate monitor. Is it possible, just as a test, to turn it down to say 60Hz and see if makes any difference.
I have a display scale set to 100% and a native/recommended resolution of 3440x1440. Changing either or both at once didn't help.
Mine is Alienware (Dell).
It did auto-install Alienware Command Center. This one is tricky, I tried to uninstall it once but it auto-installed itself again. If I try to end its process in task manager it starts immediately again.
I also have Dell Display Manager which I usually use instead of OSD and to check firmware updates once in a while. This one behaves better (can be easily closed) but closing it didn't help.
The standard refresh rate is 165 Hz. Changing it to 100 or 60 Hz didn't help.
Hello,I have forwarded your problem/question again to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
Note: Do know that Stardock is currently on Thanksgiving Holidays, so support might be slow.
Thanks
Understandable, I like Start11 v2 regardless; I just really want to see this bug get fixed.
I would like to add my name into this, same problem, only happens on the main monitor. Just started a week or so ago, before that it has been fine since initial install of Start11.
I recently upgraded to V2 and also have an auto hide problem. I do not use the Start 11 enhanced taskbar. I have auto hide on in Windows settings. With maximed windows I regularly get no taskbar anymore. If I move a non maximized window partly over the taskbar, I do see the taskbar coming up, but it's not in the foreground, it moves behind the displayed program. I'm just assuming that with maximized windows, it actually might be moving as well in the background. With the Windows key, I can get the taskbar and menu to appear.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Screenshot below.
Please try this. Uninstall Start11 v2, reboot immediately after uninstall done. Re-download latest Start11 v2. Install it. Reboot immediately again, retest it and report back.
Today, I want to share that I'm encountering the exact same issue.
Initially, when Start 11 was first released, I purchased and installed the application. Unfortunately, it caused issues with my taskbar, leading me to perform a full reinstallation of Windows 11. Determined to give it another try after some updates, I decided to wait for a while. Time passed, and in the interim, I purchased an OLED Alienware AW3423DWF monitor (3440x1440, 165Hz). Due to concerns about potential image burn on the OLED display, I have been seeking a solution for auto-hiding the taskbar, so I revisited Start 11 and found it suitable for my setup.
Today, I downloaded and installed Start 11 v1, utilizing the license I had previously purchased. In this version, I encountered no problems with the auto-hide feature. However, since I didn't have the latest version that supports folders on the taskbar, I opted to fully uninstall Start 11 v1. Subsequently, I purchased and performed a 'clean' install of Start 11 v2 - version 2.03. After restarting my computer post-installation, I found myself facing the exact same issue with the taskbar's auto-hide feature as described and shown in this thread. Notably, the taskbar stays hidden almost 95% of the time but behaves correctly on my other monitors.
The taskbar issue has escalated to the point where it is entirely invisible. Intriguingly, moving the mouse downward does not make the taskbar appear. However, if you navigate the mouse and click where an icon would be on the taskbar, it still launches the corresponding app. I've included a video demonstrating the issue. As I own an OLED monitor, it's crucial for the taskbar auto-hide feature to function correctly to prevent a 1px line from burning into my display. I kindly request you to review the video and provide guidance.
First have you try the uninstall reboot immediately, redownload and install latest version, reboot again immediately. Retest it? If you did that. and the issue still there. Need to know more on your system.
I performed a clean install of the software which means that after the installation of Start 11 v2, I rebooted the computer.
My system is an Intel i7 13700K with 32GB DDR5 6400MT with an MSI GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM X 24G graphics card running Windows 11 Professional 23H2 on an SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2 Internal Solid State Drive. I have 3 monitors on this setup and my OLED Alienware AW3423DWF monitor (3440x1440, 165Hz) is my primary monitor.
Please try Start11 v2.04 : https://forums.stardock.com/524909
I can not get to the download page for some reason... it keeps redirecting me back to the forums. Please advise.
***Looks like it's working now. Will install the BETA in a few moments. Going to uninstall, restart, install then restart and test.
