I disabled taskbar preview thumbnails in Windows but when I install Start11, now they are showing, I hate that, please give us an option to disable taskbar preview thumbnails
Same problems as everyone here. I had the delay and disable and they kept coming back. Only way I've had to fix them was to restart explorer and then it's fixed for a while. I'll have to try just doing the enhance taskbar disable and re-enable next time.
No idea why start11 messes with this feature so much but it's definitely some bad interaction between windows and start11.
Having same problem and sometimes the thumbnails do not go away, it is to the point of being unusable
Hello,I have forward this issue again to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thanks for forwarding it. Such a weird bug.
If any of you reporting the issue put your PC in a cleanboot state:
https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1334935592/Start11+Clean+Boot
And as directed in it, while under a new (temporary) Windows Admin (<-important) account, can you still reproduce the issue?
Ensuring that you all have version 2.07 installed is also crucial.

Taskbar thumbnail previews have been driving me nuts as well, as even when setting the delay to 90sec or whatever sometimes they appear after that and will not go away.
99% of the time this happens with taskbar previews because I work with them all the time, but... In some instances other tooltips appear and get "stuck" the same way. For example, if I've reacted to a Teams chat message that is situated in the highest visible part of the chat window and I quickly move my mouse through it (e.g. to go to my profile button), I can get a tooltip popping up showing what the reaction to the message was even though my mouse is hovering something completely else on the window.
Again, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the taskbar previews, but to me this same kind of behavior elsewhere would lean towards a mouse / pointer lag issue - or more like mouseover moving away from something not registering properly and thus leaving a haunting tooltip or, even worse, a taskbar preview.
Using pretty much every registry hack, local Group Policy and performance setting to mitigate the issue I've gotten to a state where I can live with it but a permanent fix would still be nice. Just my two cents for perhaps not looking at this merely as a taskbar issue.
Any chance of this being fixed soon?
Have you tried the suggestion by Adam in his reply#30?
Thank you,
No and I am not going through that, this doesn't happen all the time so even if I did that and the problem does not show it means nothing
That is strange, if the issue was base on Start11, it should happened all the time since Start11 is always on. Most probably conflicting with other applications. Hence, the cleanboot suggestion.
Not sure what combination of circumstances causes the various taskbar preview problems but I know what avoids them - using StartAllBack instead of Start11.
Bumping this as it's still going on. Fix is still to restart explorer.
I have tried in safe mode not the full clean boot and it didn't happen but it also doesn't happen all the time in standard windows and restarting explorer fixes it for a while so while it might happen in safe mode it didn't in my tests.
I did go and try StartAllBack for a couple days and didn't notice it but I much prefer Start11 just hope that this can be fixed one day.
this is happening for me as well, and has for months, and i have done all the suggested work arounds. none of them work
it is 110% related to the "enhanced task bar" setting in start 11. and you're abolut to lsoe a customer because of this BS run around.
Yeah, thanks for "restart explorer" button in Start11 configuration. Makes easier to get rid of these damn icons. My friend does not use start11 and has the same problem. Its mind boggling that this wasnt fixed by MS. Theres literally option to turn it off that is not working at all and nobody cares in that massive company. But if they did - we wouldnt need Start11 in a first place I hate that previews but like I said - I doubt its strictly Start11 related, since people who do not even have Start11 are struggling with same nonsense.
Bumping this again because this issue is still persisting in Windows 11 even when applying the batch file in the registry. It is very annoying having to get these mini taskbar windows off my screen because they immediately pop up when clicking an open program in the taskbar, staying there until I move the cursor over the bottom area several times. It's enough to trigger an OCD attack. There has to be an option to disable them altogether with the enhanced taskbar feature enabled because it's driving me nuts.
I'll just go and give another confirmation as well. Still happening.
Best solution I've found, don't remember where I saw it, press the ALT button on your keyboard and it'll get rid of them. Better than restarting explorer when you have a lot going on. But we really need a proper fix so it just doesn't happen.

Install winaero tweaker, it is a good program and one of the things you can do is disable the taskbar previews
I will give it a shot - heard good things about it, thanks for reminding.
[edit]
All Winaero Tweaker is doing is setting in registry really long time for mouse hover Something I have done before manually. Its good enough but if you leave mouse over the element on taskbar it will eventually pop up.
BTW, I dont understand how such big company can mess up such simple things (Microsoft I mean). I have installed that dreadful 24H2 update because my son had zero problems with it. I thought people are exaggerating about how bad it is. In my case it slowed down whole system to ridiculous levels (waiting about 1 minute for click to actually work...). I had to roll back and all is fine and dandy. Eh... Anyways would be cool to see Stardock finding out way to block those things. Good luck with it. I absolutely cant imagine using windows11 without Start11 anymore Late Happy 2025 everybody!
yeah still appearing, this is ridiculous , I was hoping with the latest update it would fix it but no, don't worry I am sure it will be forwarded again to the support team
I mean its not a simple task since creators of the system itself cant fix it apparently No other software can as far as I know. Winaero tweaker is only pretending to do so by prolonging time... So I dont blame Stardock they cant fix it either.
Install Windhawk and then install the mod to disable thumbnails, works perfectly. You have to keep Windhawk running at all times but so far no issues
After updating to 24h2, this damn taskbar preview started making my life hell again.
Does Stardock intend to fix this with an update or should I migrate to a competitor that fixes this (yes, startallback fixes this annoying thing)?
Install windhawk then the mod
Yup, just to confirm - Windhawk is the only thing that worked for me. I cant even install 24H2 because its completely messes my system up... But even in 23H2 they have also make those damn thumbnails to come back. Windhawk gets rid of them and offers many other improvements through mods that are not possible otherwise. Fantastic software.
