546.01 also working on my end. There must be another variable at play
update - It looks like there has been stuttering / freezing issues reported with gtx cards. The rtx cards seem mostly ok except a few of the 20's. It is an NVidia thing.
I installed Start 11 2.0 v2 Release Preview on Several of my Windows 11 (23H2, yes the latest possible update) machines last week, and I saw my mouse cursor disappear at times, and I kept having performance issues. I uninstalled Start 11 2.0 v2 and the issues went away.
I really want to use Start 11 2.0 V2 but I can't lose the stability or have major decreases in the performance of my machines.
How can I get insight into the performance and stability of Start 11 2.0 V2 so I can diagnosis and debug what could be leading to the performance and or stability issues?

The only system resource I am seeing an uptick in while using start 11 is system ram. Additionally, it looks like the 23H2 update may also be using more system ram then 22H2 did. Do you see any high utilization of system resources under task manager?
I too have this problem with Start11 version 2.0 BETa 1.02 running on Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 22H2 Buiil 19041.vb_release.191206-1406, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19052.1000.0
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, which problem are you referring to?
Thank you.Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
The start menu / taskbar update speed with Start 11 V2 really slowed down so much I could watch the pixels repaint.
Seems like maybe there is an unknown variable here. Do you guys with the issues know the exact graphics card you are using?
edit - I think this may be a Nvidia thing with gtx cards at this point.

Startdock Start 11 Configuration: Start Menu and Start Button settings - no work☹
Installation of Version 2.0 Beta 1.02 lost my previous version settings and I cannot reset them through the Startdock Start 11 Configuration app window.
This happened to me a while back with start 10. The bad news is this, isnt a Start11 problem . (IF start was having Gpu/driver conflicts of some sort it would be noticable with all drivers you try) The good news is, you'll find this was either an incompatible problem within your system ie.. something else is conflicting or a bad gpu driver install. Download DDU from guru3d > Remove Start11 Reboot > Remove the GPU drivers > Boot into safe mode > Run DDU remove all the nvidia leftovers > Boot back into system and install driver 545.92 re-install Start11 and i bet this works!
Effectively start11 is running the GPU in a low powermode bacically 2D. Look at your card via GPUz and you'll see whilst Start is running your card @ pcie 1.1. My point is the gpu has nothing complex to render with start and the fact that you have gone back a few driver versions and all works kinda supports the fact that this isnt a start problem.
Hope this help!
I'm running on a fully up-to-date Surface Book 3 15” with Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 model and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti with Max-Q Design w/6GB GDDR6 graphics memory
That sounds rather like a GDI or USER resource leak.
If you open taskmanager and go to the details page and then right click on the column headers and pick select columns and then enable user objects and gdi objects (you will have to scroll the list) you should then see a count for Explorer in the list.
After running Start11 for a while see what the counts for explorer are and then open and close the menu a few times and see if it changes much.
It would also be useful to know what menu style you are using, are you using tabs, are you using custom textures or images on anything, are you using a custom font, or font shadows anywhere in Start 11 etc.
Default Tab When Opening Start Menu
I really like the new TABS and I know this is a big ask, but would it be possible to add an option to define a default tab in a group so that when the Start Menu opens the default tab would always be selected.
Example: A group has four tabs; 1, 2, 3, and 4.
The way it works now; if you select tab 3 and click a shortcut to open an object, the next time you open the Start Menu tab 3 is selected.
I want to be able to set tab 1 to default and always be selected when I open the Start Menu.
Thanks for your consideration.

RTX 3090 is what I'm using .. Tried DDU and get the same results. Started in 22H2. Now trying a fresh install of 23H2 and get the same problem. Will freeze every time windows starts and can last anything from a few seconds to a minute. I don't use any other apps like startallback or anything that messes with themes, the taskbar or start menu that might cause an issue, not even antivirus on this system. Installing older drivers works but I lose loads of performance in newer games. Just living with the freeze but disappointing to know it likely never gets fixed. Nvidia take long enough to update drivers to fix performance issues, so I really don't see them taking my bug report seriously and fixing the issues they are having with start11
This is going to sound silly, but does the problem continue if you uninstall Start11?
EDIT
Trying the new hotfix driver from Nvidia (546.08). I'll edit this post and report my findings.
Same with 546.08. guess it's just a waiting game.
Working GREAT so far! Only bug I've found is I can't delete files via a "Pin Folder Menu". I created a folder for Desktop in Window 10x64 19045 then when I right click on a file (which is correctly shown from the desktop) and right click menu -> delete nothing happens. Everything else in this right click menu seems to work fine for individual files.
In other words:
I have two issues:
Thanks
Wolfgang
This is what I did to solve this issue.
In the Registry, go to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\
Locate the entry; {98F2AB62-0E29-4E4C-8EE7-B542E66740B1} and delete it.
See this post: https://forums.stardock.com/478915/page/1/#3646862
I tested this on all the sub-styles of the Modern Style and it works as expected.
Windows 11 Pro - 22635.2700; Start11v2 - 2.02
Taskbar Icon Setting "Small" doesn't work with v2

You see, the same behaviour.Worked perfect with v1, I want to roll back to it - where do I get it?
Thx, Lars
As of right now, we do not have immediate plans to support taskbars on the side of the monitor.
Paid for the upgrade to version 2, to find it's only beta version, why sell buggy software???
Bug (typo), Settings backup
Backup settings to a file
When you type in filename it asks to open instead of save.
Open Cancel buttons instead of Save Cancel
So the information is there.

Hi, so far, the upgrade to v2 is nice. The one feature that ALMOST works for me (which is the only reason I have stayed with Win 10 taskbar vs Win11 taskbar, is the ability to pin "This PC" to the taskbar. This version allows me to show all items in This PC, but I can't get submenus to work, so I can't navigate my entire computer from the taskbar like I do on Win 10 taskbar using "toolbars" feature that's been around since probably Win98, if I'm not mistaken....
I did turn on "Show folders as submenus" on the Taskbar pins option page. But, again, clicking on This PC icon in the taskbar just brings up the items for This PC, but not submenus allowing me to navigate through the subdirectories.
Is this intended, or a bug? If intended, please add this feature... with this, you guys will have completely fixed Win 11 for me!
