Stardock Announces Start11 v2
New Start Menu Designs, Taskbar Enhancements and Enterprise Features Now in Release Preview
Stardock announced Start11 v2 and the release preview of the industry's most advanced Start menu, today. This program allows users to fully customize the Windows 10 and 11 Start menu experience with unique features, designs, and restore classic functionality from previous versions of Windows.
New with Start11 v2 are three new Start menu styles that seamlessly blend with Windows 10 and 11. Each new style is centered around a different theme: Apps, Professional, and Launcher, and are fully customizable from top to bottom.
Start11 v2 is also enhancing the taskbar with new functionality that makes it faster to access your files and folders. With this release, you can now pin a file or folder directly to the taskbar without having to open File Explorer. And if you want to build your own quick access menu, you can turn a folder into a popup menu for quick access to frequently used files directly from the taskbar.
"This is a significant update and ships with more than two dozen new features” said Brad Sams, General Manager of Stardock Software. “And we are also introducing new enterprise features as well, including the ability to load a Start menu configuration on login, kiosk functionality that lets you lock components of the Start menu, and improved tooling for advanced deployments.”
Also new with Start11 v2 is an updated search experience with native integration with the Everything search engine. Additionally, Start11 v2 introduces the ability to backup and restore your settings from a file, improved animations when navigating within the Start menus, tinting for a unified icon experience, options for removing folders from the ‘all apps list’, and many more.
Start11 v2 is available today for a discounted price of $5.99 (reg. $6.99) during the release preview period and is also included in the award-winning Object Desktop suite. For more information, visit the Start11 v2 website here.
How do we get people to give us more money? Add v2 to the end of the product name.
I think you will find it is a significantly upgraded/different product. We could have named it Start12 but given the OS name is Windows 11 it would have caused confusion.
All my taskbar icons are missing. Windows defender, remove usb devices etc....
Windows 10 19045.3570
Well, I installed it, but it wiped out all the settings from my previous version of Start 11. Not a good idea at all.
Thats odd as it uses the same settings as Start11.
You didn't pick remove settings from the existing Start11 uninstaller did you?
Just to clarify then. Those of us who bought Start11 do NOT get the update to v2?
btw. Anyone know what wallpapers they used for the demo images, they look nice!
I tried using the upgrade link, but it was only under the single license. If you have a multi-device license, does the upgrade cost quote from entering your email account for that?
First off, I really do love the new start menu styles a lot. Good work!
Question; Are you guy's hoping to get this version working on Windows 12 once that OS launches?
Thats odd as it uses the same settings as Start11.You didn't pick remove settings from the existing Start11 uninstaller did you?
I installed it over the previous version on Start 11 Neil. I did not uninstall the previous version first as I did not see that as a requirement anywhere.
Anyplace to download those wallpapers?
I have four licences for V1, will I be able to upgrade them for free?
Is there a Windows10 Style in v2 please? thnx
Of course. It even better has more features than in v1 with support for wider groups if wanted, tabs, group colours etc.
Thanks. just purchased it, can't wait to try it!
Sorry last question: Is it sure and certain that I won't lose my tiles config when upgrading to v2? Cause I spent A LOT of time creating the tile pages. Thanks
The same as Reply #3 and now??
You can save your existing config by exporting the following keys using Regedit
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Start8"
You need to uninstall Start11 v2, REBOOT and redownload the new install file from the servers. Then install that.
Thanks !!
No, you must buy a new license for this update. Rip-off!
im wondering this too, where the upgrade link for multi-device license?
It depends when you purchased Start11 v1. Within 28 days I think it is free, otherwise discounted upgrades are available.
You are free to use the existing version and do not have to upgrade as it is purely optional. The product you purchased continues to work on the existing versions of Windows so if you are not interested in the new features then you can continue using what you were.
You notice this is no freeware hobby programmer group or a wellfare organisation but a company that has employers that have to feed themselves and their families with their hard work?
You realise how many licenses I’ve got for Stardock products? Is that the best comeback you have? I’m not the only one unhappy nor am I the only one moving to StartAllBack. I predict there will be more unhappy people. I have a right to be unhappy. But thanks for trying.
Your existing product continues to work there is just an optional upgrade available with a massive number of enhancements available for a small upgrade fee if you want. If you are not interested in it then simply ignore it exists and you are in the same situation you were in before.
There are many great features available to you once you register, including:
