With the Start11 v2.0 Public Preview release, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.
Object Desktop members can get the release from within Object Desktop Manager
Individual purchases (as well as Object Desktop Members) can also be obtained from your account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
For guest check-out purchase (no account), from this link: http://www.stardock.com/support/productkeyretrieval
Please include the following for anything found:
Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)
Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen
Screenshots and videos are very helpful. Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post. Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.
If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions. If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.
Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 a better product.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I watched the video couple of times. May I know what I should be looking at?
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
pay notice to the tray icons on each monitor. You will see that when the taskbar button for a window is moved to another monitor the tray icons are redrawn. In the upper monitor you can see Core Temp icons (the numbers) disappear then reappear. On the lower monitor you can see the date/time do the same thing.
It looks like it happens when a taskbar button is removed but does not happen when one is added. Moving between the two monitors yields a sort of tick tock effect in the tray.
I made a video showing this back in the V1 stage but since w11 now allows taskbar labels I just turned off Start11 taskbar management since windows 11 doesn't cause this.
Okay, I saw it too, only happen with Enhance taskbar button turn on, yes? I have forwarded your problem to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Yes it only happens when Start11 enhance taskbar is on AND the taskbar is set to center aligned. Left aligned works fine.
Windows 11, Start 11 via Object Desktop
I did not realize that the update OD was alerting me to for Start 11 was just a Beta. I've had way too many issues going down that path with other Stardock betas and so have vowed never again. Except I don't recall any indication this was a beta, only that a new version was available.
Installed it.
SysTray is totally messed up. Most everything it had is now gone.
Other posts here say that the installer was replaced almost immediately and to just re-download the installer, reinstall & reboot and presumably it will be set right.
But I got my 'installer' through OD, not a direct installer download, and OD is not offering an update. When I request an email with Product Keys, it lists OD, but not Start 11.
How do I recover from this?
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please download the latest beta from your product account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products Currently, latest is at Start11 v2 2.0.0.2. Download, install, reboot as soon install finished.
You didn't read what I said.
I said:
And btw, when I click on the link you posted, I get immediately redirected to https://forums.stardock.com/ so what's up with that?So there is no latest beta I can download from my account page! Start 11 is not listed anywhere for me, only Object Desktop.
Again, how do I recover from this?
That link works for me -- is it possible you're not signed in when you clicked it?
Also, I only see Object Desktop Manager but there is an option to View Individual Downloads which will show you Start 11 V2 Beta among everything else.
Yes, I am logged in. It's how there is a display name on this post.
The original problem may have been fixed, but there clearly is some SNAFU with my account.
STARDOCK PLEASE READ and HELP
When I click the person icon at the top of this forum page (which when hovered says "Logged in as djMot"), and then click "Account", I get to an "Account Management" page where I can see my information - first and last name, a place to upload an avatar pic, a place to change password and email. If, from that same menu, I choose "Downloads", "Order History", or "Subscriptions", I am redirected to https://www.stardock.com/.When on the "Account Management" page, then from the sidebar menu I click on "Downloads, Orders & Billing", I get to a page where I can click buttons for "My Downloads", "Billing Information", "Order History", or "My Pre-orders", all of which redirect me to https://www.stardock.com/.
From the sidebar menu on the "Account" page, the only relevant option for me right now would be "Get Products & Keys" which takes me to a page asking for my email address and a Captcha checkbox. Entering my email address, I receive an email showing product keys and download links for several Stardock products, one of which is Object Desktop, none of which is Start 11. However, when I click the download link for OD in the email, I'm taken to a place where I can download the Object Desktop Manager, but also the individual programs contained therein, including the Start 11 V2 2.0.0.2 Beta.
So I downloaded that beta and installed it. My SysTray icons have returned, but are 'damaged' so to speak, probably because I was trying everything I could think of to get them back before posting here. If I cannot get that resolved, I'll start a new thread. In the meantime, what has gone wrong with my account? Why, even though I'm apparently logged in, am I redirected to the home page no matter what I do?
It has been a while since I have used OD so I do not know the exact location. But somewhere in settings there is an option that needs to be clicked to say you want to accept beta releases. I do not believe that is active by default. version 2.002 is not yet available in typical update as it is still being tested by beta testers
