Hey there,
the main issue that is preventing me from using Windows 11 at all is the ability to move my taskbar to a non-primary monitor.
No, I don't want my taskbars on all my monitors and I also do not want to change which of my monitors is my primary monitor.
The primary monitor has other functions such as deciding where a program runs by default (i. e. games).
I bought Start11 today. Sadly it seems this functionality is not implemented. The taskbar isn't moveable like the windows 10 taskbar.
I have found older threads on the forum regarding this issue. But it seems since 2021 there has been not change to this.
Is there any intend for the devs of Start11 to implement this feature?
Personally, I am baffled how this hasn't been a bigger outcry within all windows users. Especially those that use multiple monitors.
For me its a dealbreaker issue whether or not I can use Windows 11 at all.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Yes, I believe, there were few request on this feature. So far, there is no new information on this one.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
The lack of this one feature is also preventing me from purchasing Start11. Moving the taskbar to a secondary monitor and hiding it from the primary one is currently possible using ExplorerPatcher, but it's not as stable as Start11's trial has been for me. Being able to do this reclaims much needed vertical space on 16:9 monitors, especially on 1080p monitors. This used to be possible natively using Windows 10, but now on Windows 11, neither native 11 or Start11 provide the capability.
Please consider implementing this feature Stardock ❤️. Until then, I will have to stick to the aforementioned solution.
Considering the End of Life for Windows 10 comes closer I am going to necro this post.
So far I haven't seen this feature being implemented. But maybe I have missed it (Haven't tested Start 11 since).
It would be cool if I could get information whether or not there is a technical limitation/hurdle for this being implemented (I don't even want to be able to drag and drop the taskbar. It just has to move to another monitor) or if its just low prio on your end.
If its the later then I am not gonna be angry or anything. We are adults here. You decide what is most important for your software.
There is no news on this feature yet. But, it might be implemented in the future. Just like vertical taskbar recently available for Start11v2, which also been a feature requested for a long time.
Thank you,

I would be very thankful Basj if you could ask one of the Start11 devs what they think about the feasibility of this feature. Any answer you'd give wouldn't be a promise by any means. As a software dev myself I know that the "elevator response" of a dev can often not be super accurate because it requires a technical analysis of effort. But I would be satisfied if I even got the 2-3 sentence initial impression of someone that develops on Start11.
I suspect that there may be some technical difficulties for it simply because so far I haven't seen other third party tools implementing this.
Hello,I have forwarded your question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
Thanks a lot. I have this thread subscribed so I will be getting email notification on any response.
I'm bumping this because its been 20 Days.
I would love to have this feature too, currently have my physically secondary monitor set as primary in windows just to have the primary taskbar on it.
Sounds like the original post actually wants two different features, enabled at once - ability to hide/disable all taskbars except the primary one and move the primary taskbar to any monitor. I'm mostly interested in the "move the primary taskbar to any monitor" while still leaving secondary ones on other monitors.
There is a way to do it, which unfortunately is incompatible with Start11, at least when it is set to be on top. There is a "Primary taskbar on secondary monitor" mod on Windhawk (I do not endorse it here in any way, try at your own risk, even tho it is open source, both the client and mod itself). It does seem to work without start11, but with start11 on top it moves the primary taskbar on secondary monitor, but does not move the secondary taskbar on primary monitor, so you are left with just the primary one with nothing on other monitors. This seems to be exactly what NonameFTW2860 is looking for, but there is a catch - when you try to maximize a window, it still thinks the taskbar is there, leaving empty space at the top.
