Version 1.71.495432
Hi,
Started a new game after the update to 171.
Around turn 65/66 (?) my civilization name and icon scheme changed to the 'Greckle'. My people seem the same, I have full control, non of the factions are in play yet.
No idea why this happened, unless it had to do with finding an old starmap, sending a colony ship to the new coreworld? The new world seemed close perhaps next to the star so I used the planets tab to send the colony ship.
The only issue I have with this is that now I have to dedicate my first 2 constructors to my home system. One to get the economic boosts started and the 2nd to mine the Durantium deposit. Kind of negates the boost of having Durantium deposit in every Civ starting system. It also means that if I find a Relic next to resources, I have to send 2 constructors. Not saying the change is totally bad, but it wasn't unrealistic for Starbases to have limited abilities to multitask.
I've seen this bug happen in v1.66 or prior on a very very advanced game (turn 350-400). Reloading a previous save fixed it. No idea what caused it at the time either.

I've always used mining bases for Relics, they can exploit them just fine. Is there an advantage to use a culture or military starbase for those ?
So this just happened to me (turn 61). All of a sudden my custom civ the "Alpha Pride" is now the "Liberators". In addition the minor civ had it's logo changed to my logo. This is obviously something that needs to be fixed asap. Here are game saves before and after:

I just assumed that if Economic Starbases can no longer mine, then Mining Starbases will no longer be able to exploit Relics. I may have been premature since they didn't say that. I guess we'll just have to see what happens.
Was able to verify in current game that Mining Starbases can still exploit Relics, so that's good news.
I don't think your update is working I realize the algorithm has min/max's for every setting, but a game setting of abundant everything should never yield a starting sector like this
My next roll got this - talk about extremes
Cool, thx for having confirmed it!

So this is definitely something that is happening basically every game. This time an event triggered it (turn 102). A faction on my home world settled a secret planet and declared war on my Civ. That would be a neat twist, but the program gave me a new logo and colors. I kept my name this time. Have to load a previous save to reset my CIV and hope this event doesn't come right back.
wrt faction flipping:
We are working on a fix now.
Thanks for the update!
We posted a new build with a fix. Be sure to restart steam and start a new game for the fix.
Additional update notes were added under the date 8/18/23
2023-08-18 update is a bit ironic, because red giants do consume nearby planets and asteroids IRL.
It looked cool. Unfortunately, because you could see some of the planets/asteroids but couldn't select them, it felt like a bug.
