With the Groupy 2 general release, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.
Object Desktop members can get the release from within Object Desktop Manager
Individual purchases (as well as Object Desktop Members) can also be obtained from your account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products
For guest check-out purchase (no account), from this link: http://www.stardock.com/support/productkeyretrieval
Please include the following for anything found:
Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)
Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen
Screenshots and videos are very helpful. Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post. Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.
If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions. If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.
Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Groupy 2 a better product.
I am going to infer that this really reads 'Steam does not launch when launched from a saved group that also has these other game apps. If I group Steam with Notepad and save / launch, it works'
Would that be true or no?
Sean DrohanStardock Product Lifecycle Manager
Nope it does not launch.
I explain myself better:
No matter the applications I group with Steam, Steam does not launch. All other apps launch with no problem even if they are store apps.
Seems like Groupy does not support Steam, or very much possibly I'm doing something wrong that I'm not aware of.
Any help would be of great... Help
J.
Are you able to post the contents of one of the saved groupy files to see if there is incorrect information being saved?
Also be aware if you minimize Steam to the taskbar it will not reopen as thats an app specific thing which Groupy would have no knowledge of.
Asking for a friend:
Does Groupy 2 work on a chrome book? I know it is hard to get software to work properly on these arm processors.
A chromebook wouldn't run Windows so no.
But we also do not support arm processors either even if it was running the arm version of Windows.
I have been dealing with the same issue as REPLY 31 with File Explorer on Windows 10. Tabs are shrunk down when the window is maximized (Picture 2), when I click to add a tab the tab bar separates from the window (Picture 1).
My solution at the moment is to manually resize the window to my screen (Picture 3), when I do this the tab bar remains full height and does not disconnect from the window when adding a new tab.

Hi,
Here is the simple example of grouping Notepad and Steam together: "SteamAndNotepad.groupy":

I am seeing blank spots in my taskbar now that I've upgraded to Groupy 2. They show up randomly, so I can't give you steps to recreate this activity, but it has happened every day.

I believe I was able to reproduce this. Valve must have changed something as I personally tested this working prior to G2.0. I have filed a ticket to have it looked at.

Thanks for the feedback.
Have you guys looked into the issues I posted?
Hope this got fixed soon...
We have reproduced it and worked around the issue for the next update. Groups with steam will need resaving with the new build however.
The issue was caused by the new steam client and the unusual architecture of it.
Thanks for letting us know.
We should have this addressed with the next update.
Sweet!
As always many thanks.
Excellent !
Eagerly awaiting for the fix.
Are any of the bugs I reported here and then cross-posted here being tracked? I've been able to replicate them on a clean installation.
It's a bit confounding why a promotional post would be released, emphasizing a feature that I discovered 9 bugs with in the span of a few hours of testing.

Some have. However, as noted in every release thread, what you detailed would really help with the following:
Thanks for the feedback.Sean DrohanStardock Product Lifecycle Manager
Thanks for the response. I just added some videos of several of the issues, as well as ~4 new bugs I found in the past 30 minutes. I'll continue to update them with additional videos as I'm able to replicate them.
If you have a debugging/verbose logging build that I can run, I'd be willing to be a guinea pig. It might be hard to catch and identify some of the less-common bugs I'm experiencing (such as icon duplication after hibernation).
If I were to make a guess as to what the root cause of 90% of these bugs is, it's the method of refreshing/not-refreshing the icon group in certain scenarios. It almost seems like there's a race-condition.
Been experiencing an issue where tab close buttons are disabled but you can still click where they would be and it works all the same. I'm assuming this is a bug, since I've accidentally closed tabs this way.

Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. This I can reproduce, I have forwarded your problem to Stardock Support Team for their review. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback .

Long time lurker, first time poster:
Bug found:
Groupy 1&2 don't recognize Unreal Engine 4/5's sub-windows as Groupable windows
They have distinct titlebars and entries in Taskbar so this is a bit strange.
I imagine it behaves the same way with other programs with similar UI design patterns (eg, a lot of business-facing software works this way)?
My personal thoughts (not bugs necessarily, but big usability concerns)
I'm a little cautious and so abstaining on Groupy 2 until its more developed
Particularly, I don't see Tab Bar Shouldn't Extend to full window Width in Groupy 2.
I'm really big on the tabs being clear and visible with that limited width: My use-case is I end up losing track of what's where, and seeing the length of the bar from its silhouette solved that problem almost immediately when I solved the option.
For context:
Inferences/possible problems:
Groupy 2 leans heavily into the Windows 11 look, which I'm trying to avoid (Flat UI is problematic for those with sensory problems, or for attentional decision-making). I use WindowBlinds to opt out of it in Windows 10. My concern is if Groupy 2 is bringing it back, it'll conflict by nesting a chosen style in Windows 11's outer appearance. Not good.
I find Groupy 1's very compact and efficient appearance which is inoffensive blends very well with most skins really well to be very effective: I don't want to part with it, unless I know Groupy 2 can also look like this.
This is still Windows 10. I was feeling nostalgic is all.

tl;dr:
The two essential features I'm waiting on in Groupy 2 before committing:
Some other features which would be nice but aren't essential:
For now, I'll stick with Groupy 1 until Groupy 2 gets the two essential features.
Thank-you for your time & consideration
Keep up the good work 👍
PS:
I was using ObjectBar to organize tools and folders for my workflow for many years but it was discontinued and while I like the tabs, ObjectDock doesn't really come even close. RIP/Long Live Object Bar, you were ahead of your time in some ways, even if your editor was a bit clunky.
You will be dearly missed.

Thank you all for your time and feedback.
Hello,For future updates to Groupy 2 would it be possible to include PowerShell, Windows Terminal, and Command Prompt in the "Replace File Explorer & Windows Notepad Tabs" setting under the "Grouping setting?" The console applications already have their own ability to group sessions together.
