If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions. If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Same here, Windows 11 with Context Menu style W10, it doesn't open.
But I hate the W11 Context Menu and prefer working with the W10 style.
By the way, I use Ultimate Windows Tweaker to change that feature easily.
the bat worked for me thank you
I also experienced this with Windows 11 Pro (22621.1413), but turning off "Lock Fences" allows me to create new fences/portals by dragging. I still have to launch the Fences configurator from the Start menu but at least this works.
I also have the issue that a right click on Fences will no pull up the settings menu. I also cannot open the app from the Start menu. Is there a fix planned and if so, when? I am on Windows 10 Enterprise Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and get the exact same behavior.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, from what I remember, you're the first report on this issue on Windows 10. I think it is best for you to update to the latest version of Windows 10.
ThanksBasj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I’m on a work PC so I don’t get to upgrade on my own. Is there not a fix for Windows 10? Maybe I should downgrade versions as others have mentioned?
I am on Windows 10 and I have no such issue. But, I am on Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.2846). Btw, just to confirm. When you right click on Fences or on Desktop you don't get this?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
Nothing happens when I right clicked. I downgraded versions and it's working fine now. I just won't update it until I do some research that the upgrade is not buggy.
Fences4 4.1.1.0-j110 resolves the UI-Issue on my Win11-System
That's great!
But since this is your first post, can I ask what issue you were having?

I wrote "UI-Issue", that is the problem, you can not open the control app by right click on the desktop.
Unfortunately I have a different issue now with version 4 4.1.1.0-j110: I can't create fences. When trying to create a rectangle, only the desktop context menu appears. Very annoying.
With Fences 4_4.1.1.0-j110 under Windows 11 Pro 22H2(Bulid 22621.1635) the desktop quick hide does not work under settings. The automatic hiding of icons, immediately, after 1 sec, after 30 sec, after 2 minutes and 10 minutes if the desktop is not used.
With quick hide below additional options the box is gray and not clickable. Only if you uncheck the Enabled box at the top and check it again, the additional option is available again at the bottom.
When starting the settings, the language is always changed to English (US).
Thanks for the tip!
Could you pls fix Fences' version number? The exe reports v4.1.0.x instead of 4.10.x ... package managers keep telling me there's an update when I'm already on the newest release.
Hello !
I've updated my OS from Win7 to Win10 but forgot to uninstall Fences4 before.
Later I've reinstalled the last available version of Fences4 but in the context menu appears only "Able Fences".
As suggested in other post, I've downloaded and executed Fences purge.bat and after reinstalled Fences4 but the situation is the same.
Then, as suggested in the guide lines, I've tried to move all the icons in a folder, rebooted the system but nothing happened.
This is my OS version
At the end (I spent 2 days for this installation) I've downloaded and installed Fences3 and it works properly.
Why not the same for Fences4 (bought last year)?
Thanks!
Please try this workaround. https://forums.stardock.com/518015/get;3886477.
I updated Fences 4 today, and appear to be stuck in an update loop. The installation completes, then asks for a reboot. Upon rebooting the PC Object Desktop shows the update is once more available, and if I run the installation again it completes successfully, then asks for a reboot, and on and on in a cycle.
Try this, uninstall Fences 4. Reboot immediately after (important). Download again the latest version from your account page : https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install using the newly downloaded installer. Reboot again after that complete. Retest and report back.
In \Downloads, if there is a 'Stardock' folder, delete it and try again.

The title display of "folder portal" is strange(not change).
I create a folder portal on my desktop and go down some folders in the portal. If I then use the up arrow to the left of the title to go up the folder, it is happening that the title remains the same as before even though the folder has been moved.
Reinstalling Fenses does not help.
I think this is happening when there is a shortcut for a folder in another location in the folder, and after moving to another folder with the shortcut, I use the up arrow to go back.
I don't think this happened in previous versions. ...unsure...
I uninstalled Fences, rebooted, then reinstalled, and now the endless update cycle has gone away, so thanks for that!
However, I have another problem now. The scroll function within the individual Fences no longer works properly since this update. The slide bar at the right-hand side runs the full length of the Fence, showing no space above or below to indicate where there are more items to scroll to offscreen, even though I know there are plenty of items to scroll to beyond the size of this Fence. Additionally, if I click on the slidebar and try to slide it to scroll, no scrolling happens. All that I can get to happen is the Fence will "snap" from the top to the bottom of the list of items contained within it. It will go top to bottom and back, but no scrolling through the items in between.
This is on a recently-purchased new HP Envy 17 laptop running windows 11 which had no problems running Fences correctly prior to this most recent update.
Any advice would be gratefully received. Fences is not completely unusable, but I would definitely put it in the barely usable column at this point.
Hello,
May I know what is the Windows scaling factor on your monitor/s? (100%, 125%,200%?). Also, please post a screenshot on this issue.
My screen is 3840 x 2160 and the display scaling is set at 250%.
Try turn it down to 200% or less and see if it help.
