Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making Start11 a better product.
The custom taskbar background I had set up is now back, so that's good news! Thanks!
Updated from the last beta build to the final 1.4.11 on Windows 11 Pro 22H2 22621.1344.
Start button set to centered. But when right-clicking the start button, the menu pops up on the left. I tried switching the start button from the middle to the left and back to the middle, but it didn't change behavior.
Also, the clock isn't showing seconds anymore, although I enabled this setting. Tried disabling and enabling it and restarted Windows Explorer, but it didn't change.
Any suggestions? In the last beta build, it worked.
i tried enabling blur / transparency in windows settings. didnt seem to make much of a difference.
- disabling the taskbar on other monitors works
- switching off other monitors works
with other monitors and taskbar... it seems to go into a bit of a crash loop as soon as you restart explorer. the first time it paints it seems to be okish. (more than 1 monitor = issues)
i9 12th gen3070 tiwindows: Start11 1.4.11
all monitors on 1920 x 1080.
Is there anything in Windows event log for explorer crashes?
The right click menu position is normal, it has always been like that for the experimental centre mode.
We will check the seconds thing.
hello, I'm running trough an important issue on Start11.Everything was working nice before, but the first time I clicked over "tasbkar" setting on Start11, the problem showed in my video with the explorer restarting loop started. After that, even reinstalling cleanly Start11, the problem still happen at starup.
I'm guessing it's an issue with explorer patcher, and maybe also that I tweaked my registry to set my taskbar to the top.I'm new to this forum so I don't know how am I supposed to send a so I'll send it on a third party link here that you guys can download and watch locally:https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/975000826915471412/1083307387986915358/bug.mp4
I forgot to write my Windows version so here is an edit: Microsoft Windows [version 10.0.22621.1344]
the taskbar goes transparent the same size as windows normal and no quick link icons (next to start button aligned left). with just the taskbar icons and clock. clicking on the taskbar repaints to a solid taskbar.
nothing seems to work on the taskbar itself
event viewer shows a warning for:

and at some point it has this error
The program explorer.exe version 10.0.22621.1344 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
No. Till version 1.39 right click menu was also centered.I just removed latest version and installed beta version 1.4.0.5-j289 and 1.4.1.0-j294. With both versions, the right click menu appears on the left side. For me, it looks like this behavior was introduced since version 1.4 and after KB5022913. As long as I used Start 11 the right click menu appeared also centered.
After removing latest version and installing earlier versions, I now installed latest version again. And the issue is gone. Actually, seconds are shown in the clock.
Were you perhaps not using the enhanced taskbar options before?
I am afraid we cannot offer any technical support for the use of explorer patcher, you would have to contact the developers of that if thats causing an issue.
I would recommend uninstalling that and reinstalling Start11 and seeing if it works ok to rule out the problem being entirely unrelated to Start11.
Using 1.4.11 with Windows 11 22H2. I have the experimental centring of the Start Button turned on in Start 11. I have a single ultrawide monitor. If I right-click the start button, the context menu appears on the left edge of the screen. Cosmetic issue only. The menu still functions fine.
After updating Windows 11 Home from 21H2 to 22H2, I was disappointed to find that Start11 (Version 1.41) was handling the Taskbar Notification area differently.
Please look into restoring the Multi-line layout for the Notification area.

Unfortunately Microsoft changed how the tray works in the latest release which isn't designed to have multiple rows.
So not a Start11 change but a Microsoft one.
Empty tooltips are back:
And the taskbar is getting green anytime I play a game, then not returning to black until explorer restart.
Woozie, we love your feedback and the dedication you've shown for testing (thank you), but you seem to have had some issues that most others have not. It makes us wonder about what other software on the PC may be causing issues. Did we ever ask you to perform a cleanboot and test under it?

The taskbar incorrectly painted when "Taskbar buttons should be combined: Sometimes". To fix I need to restart the Explorer. Not sure if I have version 1.4.11, I followed the link (https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products) and after download, installation and restart the "About" still shows version 1.4.1
If I restart the explorer after a while there is another issue. The last icon next to the clock is doubled.
ps. I checked the downloaded setup file, the time signature is March 7.
Version 1.4.1.1is this version the latest one called 1.4.11?
is anyone else experiencing (the) taskbar issue with multiple monitors? (set taskbar to small, ungrouped, solid - and when more than 1 monitor is enabled the taskbar goes fully transparent, becomes unclickable, missing quicklaunch icons, half the sys tray icons go missing) with Windows 11, version 22H2 - start11 1.4.11
im pretty sure this was the update that broke it: 2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022913) and i cant seem to be able to uninstall it
----
edit: not sure if it helps. enabling taskbar you get a whole "explorer needs to be restarted .. lots of text" popup. click yes. then it goes transparent. click restart explorer button. it repaints and is perfect. if for any reason explorer is restarted again / machine restart the taskbar goes back to start icon only. not clickable. fully transparent
expected:
restarting explorer:
clicking on it.. "sometimes" makes it solid but same start button and sys tray. clicking on start menu has a loading icon for some time. eventually everything flashes taskbar goes back to windows normal and then back to transparent / solid but not useable.. and "sometimes" the normal windows start menu appears (then at least you get snip to be able to take a screenshot.
now after all this... from when i started this test.. 5min later.. it "settles" to the expected
i dont think i have any other modification stuff on explorer.
only modifications i have:
- show old right click context menu reg key- when i click shut down dont wait for programs to close- i suppose kaspersky might? but pausing protection doesnt do anything differently
How many monitors do you have?
I checked every program I have on my computer, and there is nothing else affecting taskbar. All i have related to any kind of system tweaks is PowerToys and Link Shell Extension. If you like I can PM you with the full list.I will try the cleanboot but I may not have time to wait for the issue to occur, sometimes it's fine for some hours and then I'm noticing some tooltips are empty.
Those tooltips are not provided by Start11 so if they are blank the problem may exist in Windows itself.
4 but it happens from from the 2nd onwards. if i switch off the others but leave 1 then its fine. as soon as i turn on the 2nd it freaks out.
if i win key + p and select single.. then its fine. (as per the beta thread suggestion)
When using start11 with the start button 'centre aligned experimental', right clicking the start button also makes the context menu appear on the left side of the screen.
Identical like here

As always, thanks for your time and feedback.
I just updated to Start11 Version 1.41 on my PC running Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1265). I am using the Windows 7 Style menu with the Windows 7 Style substyle.
As has been the case since Version 1.36, when I right-click on the Start Menu, on any item in the Start Menu, or on the Taskbar, the context menu displays with a black background. This is not the way that Start11 worked on Windows 11 from October 10, 2021 until the update to Version 1.36. And that's not the way it previously worked in Start10 and Start8 on those respective versions of Windows. For that matter, it is not the way the Windows 7 menu structure worked.
It appears to me that, with Version 1.36, the Start11 code was modified to pick the background color based on the Default Windows Mode setting found in Settings > Personalization > Colors. As has been the case at least since I upgraded to Windows 11, I have the overall Color Mode set to Custom and the Default Windows Mode set to Dark. Microsoft requires those settings to enable the option to turn on Show Accent Color on Start and Taskbar. That is an option I've had on since Windows 7, if not earlier.
Other problems reported since Version 1.36 may well have a higher priority for correction. Still, I’d like to see Start11 display context menus for Start Menu items the way they were prior to Version 1.36, and as they were in Start 10, Start 8, and Windows 7 itself.
If the intent of the change in Version 1.36 was to make a dark background an available option, ideally it should be a configuration setting in Start11. Alternatively, if it is to be based on the Windows Personalization settings, it should only be put into effect if the overall Color Mode is set to Dark or the Default App Mode is set to Dark.
